This fantastic new (2023) hostel is off to a great start! As someone who has trouble with the top bunk in most hostels, I love how they have custom built STEPS up to the top bunk! No more worrying about going up and down little ladders for us older folks. Each bunk bed has a privacy curtain, a little shelf, a place to plug in your devices and a small lamp. These little conveniences make a huge different in terms of comfort. You can tell a lot of thought went into it. There's a fully equipped kitchen in the rear of the hostel, and also a cute little cereal and coffee/tea area near the front if that's all you need. I was the only guest there during my December visit, so it was pretty quiet, but there is definitely potential for excellent social time in the common areas and I get the sense that the hosts are hoping for exactly that. There's also great outdoor space. If you're looking to explore the four corners area of the southwest, this is a great place to make your base. read more

Oh my gosh - what a wonderful couples days in magical Dolores thanks to the the Dolores Bike Hostel! I have not been to a cleaner and more comfortable hostel in my life that includes several European hiking adventures, safaris in southern Africa, and a recent bike trip across the US. I stayed in the bunk room with 2 other guests including a Dutch traveller and a gentleman on his way to the Telluride Bluegrass Festival. The bunk room felt like a single room because of the curtains on each of the beds that provided a comfy sleep cocoon. Note: the sheets smelled yummy. With a fully equipped kitchen and separate grilling facilities, my daughter and I prepared a sumptuous meal we shared with Jake - the friendly host who is the hostel visionary/host and a solid dude. The shower and bathroom facilities are simple, clean and elegant. Funky art brightens up bunk rooms and communal spaces. The hostel has a European feel for sure. While in Dolores, we participated in the "Mile Beer Run" with many friendly locals and visitors from all around the globe. The Dolores Bike Hostel and the Dolores River Brewery teamed up for a surprising mixture of running, fellowship and beers. What a blast! Early the next morning, after a very sound sleep, Jake loaned me his bike for an off road adventure in the hills sounding the town: breathtaking views and well maintained trails turned a regular ride into an unforgettable Fathers Day experience with my daughter. Before heading back to DC - the hostel provided pristine shower facilities, freshly brewed coffee and a yummy breakfast. My one regret - I did not make time to enjoy the on-site sauna and cold plunge tub. But not to worry - I will be back. read more
