The first employee I spoke with could not clearly explain the store's return policy to me in simple terms, so I was told to call back and speak with a manager. I then spoke with another employee and eventually had to call back again to speak with two different managers. After all of that, I was essentially left with the impression that the issue was, "not our problem." I understand that there may be a return policy or limitations on what the store can do, but what disappointed me most was the lack of willingness to work with me. I even asked if there might be a small discount on a replacement birdbath or some type of glue or repair solution. Either would have been a reasonable way to help resolve the situation and make me feel like my business was valued. It really just seemed like that didn't care. Instead, after multiple conversations, I walked away feeling like once I had purchased the item, I was on my own when it broke less than two months later. I wasn't asking for anything unreasonable. I simply wanted someone to clearly explain the policy and see if there was any way they could help. Unfortunately, the way this was handled has made me hesitant to make another purchase here. It disappointing because my family just moved to the area and I have been trying to support local businesses instead big stores but after this issue purchasing something made for the outdoors in an area that we live in looks like picks from Slavens might not be the best.

Choice supplied the materials for two houses we built and a large carport/storage building. In all that time, I've never encountered surly employees or instances of poor management. Quite the opposite, in fact. Now, I'm working on a renovation of my daughter's house, and I'm back at Choice nearly every day. Still the same kind of courteous service. I enjoy going in there and seeing friendly faces. Free popcorn too. I'd give Choice five stars if they had followed the Covid guidelines more closely, but they did a better job than their competition, which deliberately flaunted them. Determined to rid myself of the blue menace, I walked into the Ace Hardware store on Main Street and asked the friendly clerk behind the desk if they had a lint roller. The clerk told me exactly where to find it. With the roller in hand , I thanked the clerk and was on my way. Ace is the place with the friendly hardware folks! If I lived in Ouray, I would probably be in that store at least once a week because of how organized it was and how friendly the clerk was.

In some 20 plus years I pop in there from time to time 99% of the time they have just what I need. And employees are always upbeat. There were workers around that were happy to help you find things. The young man that helped me was very nice and pointed out things that I may not have noticed. So I go in main door and back into garden center dragging the flat heavy cart. I get about 10 bags on the cart, about 300 pounds or so and have to drag it all the way to the opposite side of the store to pay for it. Maybe when you go you'll get lucky and the garden center register and gate will be open and an employee will offer to help. I probably will shop elsewhere next time.
