Taking an adventurous drive, we decided to stop in for lunch. Just walking in the door you feel like you're walking back in time to old Florida. The decor is quirky and fun and authentic. We were warmly greeted and chose to sit outside on the terrace. We started out with two gin martinis that were delicious and refreshing as it was hot outside. The menu is fun and very Florida for the cuisine which we were delighted by it was exactly what we were looking for. We started with the smoked fish dip which was presented quite well and very authentic and very picky when it comes to this dish it's one of my favorite Florida appetizers. It did not disappoint. For our main course, we chose the coconut shrimp and the special meatloaf sandwich. Both dishes did not disappoint. The coconut shrimp was cooked perfectly came with a side of plantains, and the meatloaf was quite impressive. Very very large portion with onion rings on top and definitely quite flavorful we chose the Keylime crème brûlée for dessert, which was highly recommended by our server who was absolutely delightful and very helpful. It was absolutely delicious and quite a generous portion. We noticed that they had a private event room, so the manager gave us a tour and went over the possibility of an upcoming event we are planning being hosted there, and they were incredibly helpful definitely highly recommend and we will definitely be back. The views are spectacular. The ambience was fun, playful and beautiful. there is plenty of parking. There's both indoor and outdoor seating overlooking the water. My wife and I had dinner there this past weekend while staying at Hutchinson Island, and really enjoyed the experience. Our meal of crab lobster bisque, ahi tuna appetizer, bacon rolled shrimp, and dolphin and yellow tail snapper dinners, hit the spot. So did the specialty cocktails. The patio is the preferred seating area with a panoramic view of the Indian River. We toured the place after dinner to enjoy the collection of memories dedicated to the founders of the restaurant and their bygone era. Having been over 10 years since I had been, I couldn't remember much about the place. Found parking on a busy Saturday and walked in to meet lovely hostesses who were on point and sat us quick. The ambiance was old school seafood restaurant and the waitress was very friendly and efficient. I was disappointed in the selection on the menu, but ordered the blackened swordfish, potatoes au gratin and vegetable. The piece of swordfish was about 2" wide, 5"long and about an inch thick, sprinkled with some red seasoning of some sort and mushy. Highly disappointing for a seafood restaurant on the water in a state almost completely surrounded by water! It's my opinion that if you don't know how to blacken anything, then don't offer it as an option! I skipped dessert. All in all, I was disappointed and won't be going back. read more

On June 11, 2026 my daughter and I ate dinner at the restaurant. I ordered the blackened dolphin (mahi-mahi) with mashed potatoes and green beans. My daughter ordered a different meal. Within a few hours of returning home, I developed severe diarrhea and gastrointestinal distress. The symptoms continued through the night and into the following day, causing me to miss work and lose approximately $100 in wages. I contacted the restaurant the next morning and spoke with Jennifer to report the incident. I was told that the General Manager, Brad, would contact me, but I did not receive a return call. I understand that I cannot definitively prove the source of my illness, but the timing of the symptoms immediately following this meal has caused me concern. I am requesting that this complaint be documented and that appropriate follow-up be conducted to determine whether there may be any food safety issues that require investigation. read more

We've been wanting to try this place for a while but it's a little out of the way from Palm City. We took the little to Kiwanis today and wanted to go somewhere for lunch. I remembered this spot and I'm so glad we stopped in. It's exactly what we were looking for. There was also a pleasant surprise - a better salad bar than Ruby Tuesday! You can order it as a meal for $20 or add on to an entree for $10. I thought I'd still want the entree but after loading up my salad, I had to take it to go. Initial Reaction: Dolphin Bar was a great spot for fresh seafood, specifically gulf shrimp. The bar has its history by the looks of it. Very old ship-like wood makes up the interior dining area with a large neon sign from a bait and tackle store that looked like it was probably from the either 50s or 60s, living room furniture in the reception area that has an old vintage tv from the similar era as well as an old barber's chair, and a view of the intercostal that would probably go for a fortune if sold today. But what Dolphin is known for is its seafood and the seafood delivers in spades. The baked stuffed shrimp is incredibly satisfying with the blue crabmeat stuffing, hollandaise sauce, and the risotto. All that makes for a deeply satisfying meal that embraces synergy. Synergy. Additionally, they check off the box when it comes to their bar following drink orders and making per specifications an extra dirty gin martini, which was on point. And the bleu cheese olives were lovely. read more

The place has nice history and the inside ambience is very good. The service was very good and ours waiter was very attentive. Now for the food. We started with fish dip which came with a three piles of chopped onions, tomatoes and jalapeño peppers, sliced carrots sticks and celery. The dip was just on the creamy side and not too dry. The issue was it was totally bland. I'm not one to add the onions, tomatoes or peppers. I have only had one worse than this. Then off to dinner. Wife got shrimp and grits and got the shrimp tacos. Guess they have never had shrimp and grits from the either SC or NC as again they were kind of bland. The shrimp on the tacos was fried with coconut. The issue here was shell had big amount sliced cabbage and a few others things. Then the shrimp. No sauce on the slaw so it was dry and crunchy. Dolphin Bar is a solid waterside restaurant. We went for an early dinner and caught the locals. The "dolphin dip" was delicious and not made from dolphin. We learned that it's the local name for mahi mahi. My husband enjoyed the shrimp and grits and the Dolphin alla Dolphin was fresh and in a light caper sauce. For a waterfront restaurant, the menu is very non-seafood centric, so options are a little more limited than some places and it has an old supper club vibe. I made a reservation beforehand and they easily accommodated me for my preferred time & seating area. Plenty of parking & easy check-in. The mimosa bar was tempting, but I ultimately chose the Bloody Mary bar & brunch buffet, which included prime rib, turkey, omelet station, waffle station with all the yummy goodies! I loved the decor, the different rooms, the different bar locations and the great views. Our waiter, Will, was very good. Friendly, professional, efficient. The food was very good. My wife had the Coconut Shrimp Tacos. She really enjoyed them. My brother had grilled Mahi with a sautéed vegetable medley. Very good. My sister in law and I both had the Shrimp and Grits. I really liked it - the smokiness of the bacon and the heat from the pepper mixture on top, but I think it was a little too spicy for my sil. We started with Brie with Local Honey and a Fish Dip plate. We really liked the fish dip. We thought the Brie needed a bit more honey. The seating was comfortable. They had a very cold NAB for me with an iced cold glass. The bathroom was very clean. My wife went into the gift shop and she said they had a lot of great stuff. We will be back! read more

Very good place for all kinds of food options. Their specialty is obviously dolphin (mahi-mahi) but they have other fish on special. I've had the crab stuffed shrimp and risotto which is my favorite dish of theirs but their salad bar is my absolute reason for coming every time, it is TOP TIER. Over 50 items to chose from and all delicious. I wish their bartenders were a bit more consistent, some nights the drinks are perfect and other night the drinks are nothing but alcohol and a splash of juice. I also wish they did happy hour for drinks and included the restaurant tables, but that's another conversation lol. read more

We've been to Dolphin Bar previously and always had good service. This was no exception. One of my favorite aspects of the restaurant however is the ambiance and this time I had mixed reviews. We had a party of 8 celebrating my husband's birthday and asked to be sat near the water. We were in the newer area to the back left, which was nice, but not on the enclosed outdoor patio. As far as the food, my husband and I split the Indian River Citrus Roasted Chicken, which I thought was tasty but my husband found a tad dry. We also added the salad bar to the entree but ended up being charged for two . Our friends had the shrimp and grits, fettuccine, sirloin steak and the filet and there were no complaints! For dessert we had to have our usual favorite Orange Sunrise Cake and it didn't disappoint. Creamy and citrusy and full of flavor. Amazing food always! We went for Easter which is usually like throwing the dice at restaurants, not here hands down they killed it. It was super busy but servers were on top of it! While the waiter made a good recommendation for excellent sides, the "fresh catch" grouper, which two out of five of us ordered, was much like eating rubber. We mentioned it to both the waiter and the manager. Neither seemed to really care. The waiter said that it was over cooked and the manager just shrugged his shoulders & said he was sorry.
