The food here is great I especially like the crunchy cod, and I love the fries they are always so crispy! The pasta mezzo mezzo is also to die for I'm sad I didn't get a photo! The only thing I don't like is that I believe they add wine to the slaw mixture which makes it a bit tangy, I think that could be an improvement on the slaw! We ate a late lunch here and enjoyed it. A classic Florida marina bar/restaurant complete with a line showing how high a hurricane got into the restaurant. Food was good: we had fried grouper, seared tuna on salad and grouper Ruben. All were good. Salad was marred by the tuna not being cooked to order, but it was still fine. Shrimpers has been one of my favorite restaurants in the Stuart area since I was legitimately 6 years old. Now nearly 20 years later, it's still the first restaurant I want to go to when I come back to visit. Nestled along the beautiful Manatee Pocket, nearly every table has a waterfront view to watch the boats going by. The decor "inside" (it's a nearly all outdoor restaurant by the way) is classic Florida; I am always amused by the hurricane water level lines! Even the walk up into the restaurant is a boardwalk ramp (accessibility for the win!) The staff is always friendly there and service is consistent with the speed of getting things in my recollection over the years, even if it's packed. Food wise, Shrimper's has this bread that is just incredible and I can't exactly describe the flavor. I think it's a rosemary and poppy seed bread but I would pay money for their bread recipe. It's that good. I don't think you can get it anywhere else. My typical dinner choice is definitely on the "turf" side, where I like to get the Philly cheesesteak or some kind of pasta dish. This time I went with the pasta primavera, which was new on the menu. I added blackened chicken on top. The veggie quantity was good, and I liked how there was a lot of artichoke, which is more unique for a primavera. Anyhoo, I currently live about 1000 miles away from Shrimpers so I'm not there too often anymore but I always look forward to my next visit! read more

As a former hotel director, I evaluate service, food, primarily but also management. An establishment is a reflection of its management team. On this occasion, although our server Bella gave wonderful service, I noticed a manager hovering over her and watching her like a hawk. I witnessed this before on a previous visit, but from an older female manager, who complained loudly about a server. Note to owners: If your establishment is suffering from a high staff turnover, I think it's time to refresh your management team. Intimidation tactics on this young generation is ugly and should never be used to compensate for the lack of skills management has. Well, the view excellent. I sat at the bar nearest the water had a very bad oder. I ordered the soup and sandwich for lunch. The potato soup was very thick, it was supposed to have Clam Chowder. However, Clam Chowder has Clams in it. I was told that the sandwich would be Chicken Salad, I was served corn beef with cheese on Rye. Our first time tonight and it was such a cute spot! The drinks were good, the service was attentive, the food was fresh and hot but the view was the main attraction. The "famous" grouper ruben was perfectly fried portion but was missing sauerkraut. My husband enjoyed the clams and oysters basket. Look I was really hungry and all I wanted was some good food. Chris had already been here a couple years ago so he said that it was going to be a good atmosphere and good food selections. It's hot down here in Florida now, Let me tell you that much! I started with the sweet tea of course, followed by a classic Mojito, a cup of conch soup and shrimp skewers platter jerk-flavor style. Well, it's kind of true what they say. Eat fish in a fish restaurant. Even though the special was prime rib, I found it to be a bit lacking in flavor. It wasn't tough, but it had a whole lot of waste on it. A bit bland and mediocre. The mashed potatoes were lacking in flavor and texture. A bit of milk or butter whipped into them might have saved them from being the stiff, dense potatoes that were served. My companions had the scallops and grouper reuben and were satisfied. No raves...the ambience of this restaurant being right on the marina goes a long way in recommending it if you want a waterside place to eat. Our server named David was very fun, personable, joking w us but most importantly accurate and professional. This is a must visit place that is lively and a tropical atmosphere next to a pier with ample parking. The bartender and the locals were friendly. They have a nice happy hour. The artichoke dip was good and the clam strips appetizer was even better. The shrimp scampi pasta dish was fresh and delicious with the right amount of garlic and ample for two people. We honestly enjoyed this restaurant so much. We had a party of 6 and 3 of us decided to get a bunch of appetizers and slit them. We ordered the Lump Crab Cakes, Seafood Stuffed Portabello Mushroom, Cracked Conch and Oysters. Everything was truly wonderful. If we were to redo it, we would not have gotten the crab cakes because those were just okay. Not bad, but not amazing for the price. However, the Seafood Stuffed Portabello Mushroom, Cracked Conch and Oysters were sooooo good. OH almost forgot, we as a table split the lobster fries and they were AMAZING!!!! Work related again. I was in Stuart, Fl for business and fortunately everything went smoothly. So it's lunchtime. I actually spotted this restaurant being very close to where I was. It's on the water but really it was the name that got me. First, it's mid day in Florida and that means it's hot. Did I say HOT, 95 degrees hot with high humidity. I walk in and no one is at the hostess station. Hmmm. But within seconds I have two lovely ladies attending me. Betsy is my waitress and very very lovely. Of course I want shrimp but that's most of their menu. They have tempura shrimp with Teriyaki sauce. I hate when people do this but I ask Betsy if they can hold back the tempura. No problem. Came with cole slaw and one side. I chose rice pilaf. Everything was excellent especially Betsy. Not only easy to look at but attentive and kept filling up my drink even giving me a to go cup. So why not 5 stars, I hear you ask. Although all the seating areas were covered non were enclosed, so no AC. On a day with 95 degree temp. I'm melting. Will I be back? To start, it seems like you're bothering the hostess the moment you walk in, if she doesn't want to be there, then quit, it really does set the mood for the entire stay. The food, well, outside of the snowbird season it's just over ok, but good enough to come back, which is what brings me to this review. I'll outline it to keep it brief: 1. When you order a dozen oysters you expect a dozen oysters, not 11, and when you bring that up to the waitress and all she said is "I'll let them know" and nothing happens AND you're still charged full price, means they don't care 2. The drinks are, bleh, not even meh, pure trash. When I let her know the bloody Mary was "just a bit over ok, drinkable" she says nothing at all 3. The green beans are BASIC, no seasoning at all, pure bland. The Tuna is absolutely frozen garbage and the slaw they served has absolutely turned rancid. My wife's shrimp skewer was burnt on one side and rubbery on the next, bravo for being the first I've even seen to screw up shrimp like that, there aren't enough drugs in the world I could take to screw up shrimp that badly. The rice pilaf, from a box, just plain sad. 4. It wasn't until the END that the waitress says "I feel bad, do you want me to get you a free drink?". Seriously, WTF? How about comping me for screwing me on the oysters? If you went to the gas station and bought 20 gallons of gas and only got 19, you'd be pissed off. Also, another drink, another pedestrian awful drink at the end, when I'm leaving to drive? Help me make this make sense. Overall, as a lifelong native, we won't be back and won't recommend them to others, this place is just another overpriced low rent dump. read more

I went last week & thought I was in the wrong place it wasn't the same anymore the vibe was even depressing. The bar empty , it was around Lunch time thou? I came with my friends from out of town and they were looking forward to it as their last time they loved it & couldn't wait to finally have some conch!! The menu came no conch on the menu ? As a matter of fact it was lunch with DINNER PRICES! I ordered a sandwich & paid for steak prices ! It was a fried fish sandwich? Not a meal , I use to get two sides now just one! Like 5 fries. I asked the waitress what is going on with the menu? Where's the Conch ? Where's my fish? It looked like a kiddie plate. I said where's the manager Paul?? He was always so professional & nice , I knew he would always make sure his customers were happy & go above & beyond for you. I was told he wasn't there anymore!!! Oh no that explains a lot more.
