So the receptionist at the hotel i was staying in (Renaissance Wien Hotel) recommended this place…read more The way she described it was amazing so i jumped on the train and headed this way. So glad i did. I went with the steak and fries because i had not eaten most of the day, and a pint of the local beer. So so so good!! Well worth the trip. The food came out quick, the servers were attentive and the meal was delicious. I wanted to try a desert but i was so full after the steak i couldn't dinner. So i just sat back to enjoy the rest of my beer and talk with a few of the guests at the bar. One of the things i love about Europe is that nobody rushes you to get through your meals. You can actually sit back, relax and enjoy the environment with no pressure. The only reason i gave it 4 stars out of 5 is because they sat me at the bar when there were plenty of tables available. I didn't get it. I arrived at 530, almost every table at the restaurant was empty. (I guess i arrived early). There were about 5 tables with guests, and when i asked for a table the host said there were no tables available. I looked around in awe because i didn't understand. Apparently they were reserved. I wasn't about to leave because i literally jumped on a 20min train ride to get here and I'm glad i did. I didn't understand why i couldn't get a table because there was nobody here. Even now as i finish this review and more guest have arrived i can count 9 open tables. But that's ok. I had a great meal, the service was great and I met some new people. They made up for it on other ways. I will definitely be back!

What I ordered: I believe on the menu it was just called the Vienna burger, but it was a tofu schnitzel burger that came w fries and a soda. I also got the lime sauce that was an additional 80¢ and was so yummy and refreshing! The burger was amazing! This place really knows how to do vegan food! They also had a cool selection of sodas. I just got the cherry coke. The price was around 11€ which isn't bad for the taste and quality of the food. This place does everything right! I wish I lived in Vienna so I could come here more often!

But thankfully their vegan nuggets are gluten-free so I got their Nugget Salad (which is their soy protein "chicken" nuggets on a garden salad and a garlic sauce). (I would have preferred to have something that was vegan and gluten-free that was NOT fried, but I suppose I should be happy I had something to eat.) And it was tasty! The nuggets weren't dry at all and had a nice texture. There was a nice creamy sauce on the nuggets, and a different light (balsamic olive oil?) dressing for the salad that was also a great combo. I also got a lemonade for my beverage, but it was a carbonated soda, so not really my kind of thing. I should have gotten something else to drink. Would have been nice to have had at least a couple of other gluten-free options to choose from but the Nugget Salad was satisfying. No wifi unfortunately.

This version is a bistro so one can expect lighter fare and lighter prices. The airy sky-lit main dining room is as charming and attractive as ever and a reservation is necessary to snag a table here. A great deal here is the Chef's menu. This is five courses where the chef will serve up dishes not on the regular menu. As with all chef's tables, you don't choose. You eat what is served. Each of the five courses was very delicately prepared and tasty and I could have eaten more of each one. Thank goodness for the generous bread basket. The meal began with a totally delicious erdäpfelsalat (potato salad) followed by a vanilla and green spargel (asparagus) salad. The next course contained wild broccoli with sweet potato chips and grapes. The main course was a fantastic concoction of karfiol (cauliflower) cooked in an olive crumb marinade with a parsley sous-dressing. A pomegranate sorbet with apple slices ended the feast. Service was friendly and impeccable and I can safely say Tian Bistro lives up to its hype and is one of the best vegetarian restaurants I've ever eaten in!
