I had a panic attack while I was under sedation because they didn't monitor my dosages or vitals correctly and Dr. McClenahan told me to "suck it up and stop acting like a baby" while he continued to perform gum grafting surgery as my numbing medicines and sedation wore off so I could feel what was going on. I could not breath properly due to my nose being stuffy from crying and he just yelled at me to take a deep breath through my nose. Then they didn't send me home with enough pain medicine so I was miserable for a week. I called them to have medicine called in for me...they didn't answer my calls or return my call in a timely manner. When I tried to confront the doctor at my recheck appointment he acted schitzo and pretended like nothing ever happened, he walked in the room and said "what a beautiful day it is today". They do not care about their patients in the slightest. If you want to be disrespected, leave angry and in pain then I highly recommend this place. When I left they asked me to schedule my six month check up and I told them not to bother, I would never come back to their office ever again!

Personally, he performed two flap surgeries on me back in 2011, followed by a gum graft to support bone loss in a different area in 2012. The procedures seemed normal and, according to other dentists I've seen for routine cleaning, the grafts look really good. Maybe they say that to everyone but my probes are healthy. He righted the ship and saved me from having to go down the implant road--for that alone, I'm thankful. Plus, I've been going to him for semi-annual cleanings ever since!

Extremely rude behavior from either the dental assistant or receptionist. There was zero communication that I couldn't bring my children (plenty old enough to sit with their tablets). The dentist came, and said "how can we make this right" then immediately asked "so do you have someone to watch the kids". I have never been to any appointment where I was met with such ridiculously rude behavior. My children have attended many of my appointments for other medical needs. If you are ok with working with people who aren't the slightest bit willing to work with their patients, and be even slightly kind then this is the place for you! If you want to be met with basic respect, don't go. It's simple, and it makes a difference. Period. I'd like to update the review based on what would occur later BECAUSE I provided a transparent review. After I left this review, Ariata would then charge me $50 for a cancellation. The reason for me saying "I need to find a new dentist" and originally choosing to leave with my two children is I no longer felt safe. I couldn't in my right mind allow him to proceed with the appointment. When I saw the charge, I called to respectfully ask to reverse the charge and the dentist quite literally was yelling at me on the phone saying "I was going to do you a courtesy of walking out because of your circumstances BUT then I saw your review... f*** around and find out". I was appalled. This man was absolutely unhinged on the phone and accused me of things that never happened. He then began to insult me as a mother and accuse me of leaving my children unattended when, that never happened, and that was never something that I planned on happening. Ever. The "conversation" would continue to be him speaking aggressively and saying that he will not reverse the $50 charge. Throughout this conversation, my asks were very simple: please add clear communication to new patients and on your website that kids are not allowed in the office and second to please reverse the charge. That is it. Ultimately, it was an absolutely horrific experience and I write this to make others aware that if you attend or plan to attend this dentist office, please do so CAREFULLY.

The operation was fast,and I only had very mild pain and bleeding on the first day. I didn't have to take any of the painkillers that I had prepared before the surgery. I did using the frozen pea to cold patch the surgical area constantly for the first 24 hours and warm patch after. After 24 hours, I only had a little bit of discomfort and no swelling. By third day I was basically feeling fine. It's been three weeks since the surgery. The only thing I need to do is avoid crushing and hard food, and wait for another two months for it to heal. Dr. Tatch is out of dental Network, and he was on vacation anyway, so I decided to check out a different (rather new) in-Network surgeon 3 miles from my home, and that guy gave me a page of "smoke and mirrors" with "big discounts" and a bunch of "IF"s and contingencies and additions, and that's before new implants, so I went to NorthShore Center for consultation anyway, and... OMG,.. I met Dr. Yost Smith, a very kind, patient, competent, intelligent, and detailed doctor, and I was so impressed that I scheduled my implants removal and bone graft right away for the next day, and - Attention! - their plan/estimate was lower than the other so-called "in-Network" guy. Next night something in my mouth woke me up - it was my 2 fused implants that fell out on their own. Dr. Smith was very skillful and patient again answering my new questions, and he never charged me for implants removal, no games or questions asked. The staff has been always amazing for the last 20-25 years, but this time I met a dozen new associates who were very caring, friendly, and skillful. Wow, what a great experience! I don't have dental insurance so I hadn't been to the dentist in a few years and I explain to them I would like them to check me over completely and let me know what I needed to have done. Turns out I had two small cavities and it wisdom tooth that needed to come out. The doctor performed the services at extremely reasonable prices and I plan to return in the near future for a crown.
