The dentist shaved down a bottom tooth even when I mentioned this was not the reason for the tooth chipping. Completely disregarded anything I had to say and spoke to me as if I was an uneducated child that couldn't comprehend the sorcery he was about to perform. Now, the shaved tooth is razor sharp. Having the other front tooth previously chip, the respective bottom tooth was not shaved down. My bottom teeth are uneven and the tooth is significantly smaller (both at the top and in the front, compliments of the "minor adjustment"), even though I was reassured it wouldn't be. The top tooth has once again chipped no more than a week later. The dentist stated he would be more "aggressive" if this were to happen. Since I went in with one tooth issue and left with two, I'm going to have to respectfully pass on this "aggressive" procedure. I was told the previous was minor so aggressive makes me fear what that procedure would hold in store for me. Stating this would have been the course of other dentists begs to question why my other tooth is still holding strong and the unnecessary requirement to shave down the bottom. Nearly identical scenarios, different dentists. I now have two issues plaguing me daily as a result of this visit. As I was trying to gather myself in my car, upset about my uneven and smaller bottom tooth, along with the top. The dentist knocked on my window, having followed me to my car to only again state that I probably couldn't understand what was done. It was very uncomfortable to have him follow me into the parking lot and confront me. Demeaning to say the least and insulting to my intelligence. Maybe, I don't fully understand his profession but to speak to someone as if they are ignorant or brainless was very unprofessional. I would not want to step foot in there again. Passive aggressive comments about people's intelligence compared to your superior intellect is not cool. Lastly, it took several calls before the office got back to me. @

Every single appointment my family and I have tried to make over the last FIVE YEARS has been rescheduled at the last minute because of some vague "emergency." Not once. Not twice. EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. What makes it even worse is the complete lack of communication and accountability. They don't call to apologize, explain, or work with you to find a better time. Instead, they'll casually send you a new confirmation text less than 12 hours before your appointment, even if you have had your appointment set for over 6 months, as if your entire life is supposed to revolve around their incompetence and disorganization. People take time off work, rearrange childcare, move schedules around, and plan weeks ahead for medical appointments. This office clearly could not care less. Their attitude seems to be: "Your time means nothing, but ours is sacred." It's unbelievably disrespectful and honestly insulting at this point. And the billing department is just as bad. They repeatedly send duplicate bills claiming no payment was received, even after you've already paid. If you go here, keep EVERY receipt, every statement, every confirmation number, and document the date you paid because apparently their recordkeeping is a complete disaster. If you don't fight them on it, they'll happily act like you're delinquent instead of admitting their own mistakes. I have never dealt with a healthcare office this careless, disorganized, and dismissive toward patients. After years of this nonsense happening to multiple members of my family, it's obvious this is not an occasional issue, it's just how they operate. Avoid this office unless you enjoy wasting your time, arguing about payments, and being treated like your schedule and money don't matter. They have a mini fridge available with waters in the waiting room and a coffee station. Once called back, the appointment felt rushed. I had imaging done and then had a 2-3 minute interaction with Dr. Max. There was no discussion of options, risks, etc. I was prescribed an antibiotic and told to schedule the next two appointments for root canal retreatment. I was a bit disoriented. I did as asked but eventually cancelled those two follow up appointments and scheduled with a different practice with more time for patient care and education.

Update 11/19/2025: Yesterday we visited Dr. Max in his new…read moreoffice for my wife's rather complicated root canal in the last molar. The office is very clean and up to the latest word in dentistry and endodontics. The staff, Taylor and Jessica, were wonderful, and Taylor called us today to ask how my wife was doing. The doctor was second to none this time again. My wife didn't feel a thing during procedure or today. Dr. Max asked her how she was feeling every step of the way during his 1.5-hour procedure. He explained every step and every X-Ray and scan before, during, and after the treatment (several X-Rays and CT scans), and he patiently answered our (especially my) every question (and I had many of them). How amazing is that?! He is so gentle, kind, and caring! SECOND TO NONE! 2023: I just found out that Dr. Max opened his new Grayslake Endodontics practice, and I decided to share our experience. I visited Dr. Max for root canal treatment twice 1-1.5 years ago in his previous office. He performed an extensive diagnostics and treated my root canal, and it was painless. My wife had her root canal done by Dr. Max as well, and she had great experience with him as well. He is not only an excellent endodontist/dentist/doctor with gentle bedside manners, but he is very down-to-Earth friendly guy. He explains everything and answers all questions in very clear plain terms. We also noticed how he communicated with his dental assistant, front desk, and the rest of his staff, and how they seemed to be at ease with him. Absolutely amazing doctor!
