We met the winemakers at both vineyards, listened to their very interesting history and about their processes, and tasted a few wines at each. Back to downtown Montreal after a little traffic by 6PM. We saw PLENTY in the half-day tour--wonderful trip--try and get Gail--she's a hoot. Highly recommend.

The facility is quite picturesque in the woods with a view of the winery in the back. For meeting facilities they have quite a nice place and the food for lunch and breaks was fresh and had a good selection of sandwich, salad and dessert! We appreciated being the only function here for the two days. Speaking with some of the people that worked there, they mentioned they have planned over 50 weddings for the year! We purchased some bottles of wine and had a tasting of their sparkling rose. Wine was okay, nothing that overly wow'ed me but it is kind of cool that there is a winery in the woods of Laval west! The crowd in my car became kind of antsy and the micro brewery sign was my only hope to calm down the grown up kids. What we found around was awesome: * restaurant that offers the wines and beers of Les Vents d'ange and where the food is exclusively seasonal. We decided to taste the three beers offered by the microbrewery, which came with complimentary pumpkin seeds, the beers are wonderful and La 31 brew is pumpkin based. Our little snack were snails prepared in delicata squash and garnished with pumpkin chips, absolutely outstanding dish. The bistro has a terrace with nice views of the surrounding farms. * store offering the very same beers and wines, which you can actually taste there * and last, but not least, pumpkin market! All the incredible pumpkins and squashes available for us to pick and choose. They have signs describing the different sorts, so the buyers can actually plan their next potential culinary experiment. In case you have too many pumpkins you can transport them with a construction trolley to your car. Without knowing what are we going into we decide to do the full tasting that includes all the wines. Note the tasting is not complimentary. Pours are not extremely generous, but absolutely sufficient to sense the bouquet of the wines and decide to buy some. Our big disycovery is the straw wine, the owner would explain in details the process of preparing it during the tasting. There are three of them produced by Le Chat Botté, they are on the sweet side, but rich and extremely aromatic. As we sip I build a vision about foie gras and the amber straw wine. We leave with three bottles of different types, one of them will be indeed consumed later at home with mousse de foie gras and strong cheese, and believe me it was amazing. The straw wines cost 40 cad the bottle (35 cad if you buy two), but they are the absolute treat and worth buying. Beautiful discovery and strongly recommended to visit!

Parking however is a bit confusing as there is an area to park but no lines anywhere to guide you in. Therefore everyone just parks randomly. You can however park on the road up to the vineyard which isn't much of a walk. Once you get there, you can either choose to get a bottle of wine and sit on the terrace or do an individual wine tasting of five different types of wines with a cheese platter. You also end up getting two free glasses. The walk through the vineyard was very nice, it's massive so don't stray too far. The fruits were already harvested but it was still nice to walk through. I'd recommend you try this place if you're in the West Island and craving from some cheese and wine with beautiful scenery.

We decided to go with the wine sampler option because unfortunately there wasn't any other option available like a vineyard tour. They didn't seem to have food that we could have maybe paired with our wine sampler or maybe they did but we weren't informed, so I suggest that if you haven't bought the packages available on the website in advance to eat before going there. The vineyard is pretty big. They had alot of seating areas all over and they also had an upstairs patio. They have 8 different wines when you can sample from, my favorite was the swenson white. If you wanted to purchase a bottle, it ranged between 20$ to 25$

We had a semi-dry, sweet wine tasting! Our assessments: 1. Maple - our favorite! I personally couldn't taste the maple as much but undeniably sweet, but not very that it's overwhelming 2. Brianna - smooth, not too rich, a close runner up to the Maple 3. Highlands Blush - taste like strawberry! Delicious! 4. Arctic Fox - cool and smooth. Wasn't a favorite among the group, but personally I wanted a bottle. 5. Riesling - still delicious, but no surprises here - expected 6. Aromella - very fruity! Looked like a family was running this place. The older lady who served us was so friendly and explained how they make their own maple syrup too! We bought a bunch and can't wait to try.

Judy and Jim were two of the most down-to-earth people you could ever want to meet. The wine was best we had tasted out of the five vineyards we visited. The farm is impeccably maintained. Everything is organic, and there are absolutely no fertilizers or pesticides. If you venture to northern Vermont, their vineyard is a must to add to your trip!

Two of my friends and I decided to make an impromptu stop here last week while we were killing time…read moreon our way to the airport. (We had flown in for a weekend wedding.) What a wonderful find! The property itself is beautiful. It's just off of Hwy 2, and as we walked up we were greeted by the "meter greeter", a friendly poodle named Luna. Classical music was being played from the top of a small hill, which only added to the peaceful, lovely scene. We were greeted by Judy, who owns the farm with her husband Jim. She gave us a nice tour of the vines and we got to watch some of the grapes being harvested. Had a taste too--delicious! Then she led us up to the sugar house where they not only ferment the wine, but make maple syrup in the spring. She proceeded to take is through a fantastic wine flight and we even tasted the two premium maple wines. Heavenly! I would love to come back to Vermont someday, and definitely plan to return to the Hillis' farm.
