Let's start with the prices. They handed us a menu, we went to our table, figured out that we wanted: A large salad to share, an extra large hot stuff pizza, two beers, and water. The total came out to be about $61 which is about $20+ more than what I was expecting. I asked to clarify the price and received a polite apology and was told that these are old menus that haven't been updated in several years. I do not see prices listed anywhere else. I managed to stop the second pour of beer to save money. I was offered no receipt, nor did I ask for one as I left frustrated.. Beyond that, the pizza was fabulous: it had been years since we ate at Don Carmelo's. It's just as good as I remembered. The salad wasn't as good, however, supposedly $7.99 for the large (who knows how much it was). It was alright. My suggestion: Stick to the pizza. It's New York style, great crust, wonderful sauce. The hot stuff pizza had pepperoni, spicy chicken, and jalapeños which were perfectly hot and spicy. read more

Well cooked, awesome price, reasonable wait time and still tasty after a quick drive home (we ordered takeout). The pizza here is very delicious! We ordered a XL size pizza (NY Finest & All Meats combination). I would like to give a five star review but this pizzas is a little pricey. There have been a couple times when the pie could have stayed in the oven a bit longer, but that's pretty rare. The Strombolis are damn good. Probably some of the best pizza I have had yet in Omaha. You can't really compare it to any other place around here. It has its own flavor. The sauce is really tasty and the crust is one of my favorites. I got a meat lovers and it was a little greasy, but thats expected. It tasted amazing so thats all that matters. Its also pretty pricey, but I guess you get what you pay for. This pizza is good and idk how its not more highly recommended on Yelp when you search Pizza in the area. Don Carmelos has a great menu of options to serve everyone in our home- including 2 little boys. I actually bypass the pizza (even though it's hot and delicious) for the anti- pasta deli salad. Heading to Elkhorn, Nebraska and had less than an hour before my sons baseball game. We looked around and there was a DQ, Subway, Burger King, Arby's and then we saw Don Carmelo's. We hadn't had their pizza for years so we thought we would give it a go. Our waitress was both friendly and attentive. We ordered our meal which was their largest pizza and a side salad. The pizza came out hot and in my opinion was fantastic. I enjoyed their New York style pizza with fresh toppings. So glad we stopped and plan to go there again when in Elkhorn. The ambience in the restaurant is very plain but both the food and service were excellent. Love their pizza and the salad was good as well. Good: New York style pizza and great that you can order by the slice with a lot of different toppings. Not good: their salad is just iceberg lettuce with nothing else. Seriously, the salad is a joke. The completely crappy: their iced tea is out of the fountain. Oh, they try to fake you out with the container that looks like it is brewed, but trust me it isn't. After falling for that trick 4 times, I'm hoping I have it figured out. I really don't think it should be legal to call that stuff out of the fountain tea. It blows. Other notes: it's about as nice as a subway inside. I'd take a group of kids here for pizza after a ball game, but I wouldn't suggest it for a "go out" dinner. Pizza was New York style but fell a little short with the crust that just wasn't floppy enough in the center and doughy enough on the crust. Decided to order in at the Home 2 Suites and found that this pizzeria delivers. Pizza was very good New York style baked to toasty brown (ordered veggie, and it was loaded with them). Antipasto salad was nice blend of meats, and veggies. With tax, delivery and tip a bit pricey, it was worth it to be able to stay in and have the food delivered A service note: We asked that the onions be left off the pizza. I went in Don Carmelo's today on Sunday, five minutes after it opened. I was the only customer dining in the restaurant. I saw the TV was on a repeat of the Texas/Oklahoma State football game that was played on Saturday. I asked if the TV could be switched to an NFL game. The waitress said, "No NFL games can be watched in Don Carmello's." I saw the lady who I thought was the owner. "I can't watch an NFL game?" I asked. She said it was her husband's decision. He came out and said I could not watch the NFL because the NFL had disrespected the flag. I decided not to have my sandwich if I could not relax and watch a live football game while I ate. I had one swallow of Diet Pepsi before I made this decision. Don Carmello's charged me $2.86 for my ONE SWALLOW of pop. I have eaten in this restaurant probably 100 times since it opened. I will never ever set foot in the place again. How rude to a devoted customer. I guess the owners think it is patriotic to treat their customers like this. read more

LOVE this pizza, especially if the owner makes it. I cannot know why but, it is better when he makes it. He has even taken care of my order because he was there already, even though the store wasn't technically open yet. So, it was just him and me. He's awesome. The restaurant itself is clean but pretty plain so don't expect a lot there. Someday maybe they'll upgrade that part out in Elkhorn. Their dining room in Rockbrook Village is a way more "upscale" looking but quite a bit smaller. They have, by far, the closest thing to NY style pizza that I have been able to find in the Omaha metro area. I've been going here for probably 17 years and it is so delicious. The calzones and strombolis are also great. The brownies are pretty good and the cheese bread is okay- that honestly is not my favorite so I don't get that anymore. Sorry to say I did not have the same positive experience on my second visit. Will admit that the food was good, but the service was atrocious. I stopped in with my son for a "quick" dinner. We were fortunate to be there before a private party arrived, so actually received our food in a reasonable time, but then the problems began. I tried on multiple occasions to get the attention of our server, but she repeatedly ignored us. They were clearly under staffed for the private party and their dining room suffered. We waited patiently for more than 30 minutes just to get our check before finally going to the counter and literally having to beg to pay our bill. We will not be back anytime soon. read more
