Horrible experience, i ordered food from here just to go back home and find that they made it wrong. I go back to correct this as 50% of the protein was missing on both orders. No apology, just an agonizing experience of someone claiming that I'm wrong. I offered to pay the difference, no matter, that lady still kept a nasty attitude and made me wait another 20 mins just to pay for her mistake. Then to just realized they ruined it a second time. Visited a friend in Perth Amboy and we grabbed dinner to go at Don Manuel on Fayetteville St. The service was great, they weren't busy, but this was around 3pm on a Friday. As soon as you walk in, the food is memorizing. We had pernil, baked chicken, tostones, potatoes salad, rice with gandules, and their FLAN! (Idk if they make the flan but 10/10, I recommend it). This spot right here puts other Dominican Restaurants to shame. Being Dominican and a big foodie makes me a pro at tasting when a dish has been cleaned and seasoned well. I try to stay away from Dominican versions of fast food restaurants because the meat always taste weird. Rice is nasty and hard, or too soft, but Don Manuel has been a game changer. Had them two years ago at an event and have been ordering from them ever since. I literally drive 35 mins and pass about 20 other Dominican restaurants to get there. Food is fresh, clean, and welled seasoned. They have so many options to choose from and the prices are good. I am not giving them a 5 star because I do feel that they need to work a little on their customer service techniques on how to answer the phone, taking orders and getting up to date with technologies to help with the traffic of people ordering. I am a Perth Amboy native, but now live in Delaware. Every time I'm in town I stop here 2-3 times. It's the nicest Dominican restaurant in town and the food is excellent! Believe me, as a Dominican myself, I know when the food is the real deal and I've also dined at the other places in town. The ambiance and customer service at Don Manuel truly sets it a-part from the rest. The breakfast is so yummy and it's a plus that they make homemade orange juice. The churrasco is definitely my favorite as a lunch/dinner meal. Nice size and comes with veggies and tostones. Don't get me wrong, the traditional rice and beans is always a solid choice as well. He told me that this is a Dominican restaurant and the people that work here are Dominican. Im like b***h! Just bc they're Dominican doesn't mean they're not Mexican. Dominican is a state in Mexico. I know because I took fourth grade AP history! Anyways back to the food, I noticed that the guys were not giving me the attention I deserved. Don Manual is probably the best Dominican spot I've been to in Jersey! Best mofongo in Jersey for sure, the queso mofongo is soo good. I live in jersey but go to college out of school and every time I'm back in the area I def stop by! (I am like 20~25 minutes away from Perth Amboy). I'm Dominican and the food here is definitely up to par. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because the service here needs a lot of work. I stayed for dine in and we waited over 45 minutes for our food. On top of that when we sat down we were there for over 20 minutes and nobody attended to us. We had to get up, wait some more and then ask someone if we can order. They told us to sit back down and they were going to take our order. Overall food is very good though. read more

The food is excellent although the wait time sucks.This is the 2nd time they over charged us . The first was with a pick up order and the second time was today . There menus have one price and when you get the bill it's charged completely more then it is on the menu .( check your bill ) Not only did they get mad at us for saying something they where very rude to me and my friends when we asked them to change the bill and to see a menu . It's a nice place to grab a meal and relax but you might feel out of place if you're not able to communicate with them. The food is authentic as expected and full of flavor. Now, if you want to eat some good Dominican food for an amazing price then definitely take more than a gawk and gander at this place. I personally enjoy a good bargain and this place definitely offers that. I love the churrasco Don Manuel; it's a skirt steak with shrimp, tostones, (fried plantains) and steamed vegetables. You will definitely not be hungry afterward. I normally split this meal with someone else; that's how much food they give you. If you want you can always order a side plate of rice and beans, which is practically another meal. Most people come for the take-out service they offer which appears to be just as good judging by the number of walk-in customers. The service is okay. Every time I go, whichever waitress attends my party takes our order and then disappears like some two-bit David Blaine. Sometimes it's a different waitress that brings you your meal and sometimes you get your drink before your food arrives; you just never know. I like to consider it part of the charm, without actually being charming. It can also be a challenge finding parking in this area if you don't know where to look. First time going tonight and I must tell you that their shrimp mofongo is really good and must be ordered with the ajillo. The service is good and the waitress are very nice and knowledgeable. You must also order the shrimp and octopus salad.. Very nicely done with no after taste of seafood.. I can't wait to try their fried sea bass next as well as their mofongo with chicharon. by far worst experience i never received from a latin restaurant. my lady & i happen to be in town and decided to eat some spanish food. we enter and take a seat waited around 15mins before a waitress approached us. that really didn't bother us. the thing that did is that we waited 49mins to realize that our order wasn't even put in order and on top of that noone never came after the waitress took our order which she never placed!!!!! i will never go thier even if they paid me too!! never!!! as a business owner myself i will never let this behavior occur in my establishment this something the owners should acquire into. thanks for keeping us waiting in hunger. we left and ate at a mexican restaurant which happen to be a great choice. if i could give zero stars i will but cant so one will do. hope ya have a better experience than we did read more

Although the food could be tasty at times I was so upset and extremely disappointed when I went in the other day. The workers in the restaurant served TWO not one but TWO people without mask screaming over the glass partition their orders. Now everyone else respected the signs that they have placed all over the place, however, these two thought they were above the law and did not care. I blame the workers for not saying anything. Not to mention the ignorance of the two individuals doing this. I for one personally am solo and often times have to compromise myself to get food and to see this was sad. Great food and so is the staff. I have been to the restaurant multiple times. It is difficult to be noticed if you just walk in and sit down since the line for takeout is usually very long. Not only is the staff catering to those in line, but they also cater to whomever is dining in and answering the phone for those who want delivery. Like any other restaurant sometimes you need to wait for your food; I've read some of the other reviews and wonder how people are complaining about waiting for their food. If you don't want to wait then don't order off the menu and just order something that is already made in the bar that's in the front.
