Believe me, as a Dominican myself, I know when the food is the real deal and I've also dined at the other places in town. Had them two years ago at an event and have been ordering from them ever since. I literally drive 35 mins and pass about 20 other Dominican restaurants to get there. Food is fresh, clean, and welled seasoned. They have so many options to choose from and the prices are good. I am not giving them a 5 star because I do feel that they need to work a little on their customer service techniques on how to answer the phone, taking orders and getting up to date with technologies to help with the traffic of people ordering. Don Manual is probably the best Dominican spot I've been to in Jersey! Best mofongo in Jersey for sure, the queso mofongo is soo good. I live in jersey but go to college out of school and every time I'm back in the area I def stop by! (I am like 20~25 minutes away from Perth Amboy). I'm Dominican and the food here is definitely up to par. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because the service here needs a lot of work. I stayed for dine in and we waited over 45 minutes for our food. On top of that when we sat down we were there for over 20 minutes and nobody attended to us. I personally enjoy a good bargain and this place definitely offers that. I love the churrasco Don Manuel; it's a skirt steak with shrimp, tostones, (fried plantains) and steamed vegetables. You will definitely not be hungry afterward. I normally split this meal with someone else; that's how much food they give you. If you want you can always order a side plate of rice and beans, which is practically another meal. Most people come for the take-out service they offer which appears to be just as good judging by the number of walk-in customers. The service is okay. Every time I go, whichever waitress attends my party takes our order and then disappears like some two-bit David Blaine. Sometimes it's a different waitress that brings you your meal and sometimes you get your drink before your food arrives; you just never know. I like to consider it part of the charm, without actually being charming. It can also be a challenge finding parking in this area if you don't know where to look. First time going tonight and I must tell you that their shrimp mofongo is really good and must be ordered with the ajillo. The service is good and the waitress are very nice and knowledgeable. Although the food could be tasty at times I was so upset and extremely disappointed when I went in the other day. The workers in the restaurant served TWO not one but TWO people without mask screaming over the glass partition their orders. Now everyone else respected the signs that they have placed all over the place, however, these two thought they were above the law and did not care. I blame the workers for not saying anything. Great food and so is the staff. I have been to the restaurant multiple times. It is difficult to be noticed if you just walk in and sit down since the line for takeout is usually very long. Not only is the staff catering to those in line, but they also cater to whomever is dining in and answering the phone for those who want delivery. Like any other restaurant sometimes you need to wait for your food; I've read some of the other reviews and wonder how people are complaining about waiting for their food. If you don't want to wait then don't order off the menu and just order something that is already made in the bar that's in the front.
