I've been taking my dogs here since I was little. My dogs always come back happy and they are always well taken care of.

We had a wonderful experience with O'Briens. Recently went on an extended trip to Europe and left our two dog children in their care. They were accommodating to our dog's schedules and feeding instructions. I texted a couple of times to see how things were going and they were very responsive, which made us able to relax and enjoy our trip. When we picked up the dogs, they were healthy and happy. We have used their service for our out of town travel for many years, most recently this past weekend. Both Barbara and Don are very nice people. Barbara is so good with our dog and she is very attentive to our Shih Tzu and knows her habits. Couldn't have found a better and safe place to board our furry family member. read more

Don O'Brien's kennels could also been known as the NEVER ON SUNDAY KENNELS. The kennel is owned by Don (Country Bumpkin) O'Brien and his charming wife Barbara (Drama Queen) O'Brien. I have been boarding my dogs there about 3 times a year for the past several years, as I travel extensively internationally. For the most part I have gotten along with the O"Briens except for a brief skirmish a couple of years ago when a delayed flight caused me to pick my dogs late one weekday. Don O'Brien was upset because he had to watch the kennels until I arrived, and he missed his lunch date that day. Since his wife Barbara handles most of the work recently it provides a buffer from Don's cranky and abrasive personality. Recently I traveled to the Caribbean for a week, and I had to spend two nights sleeping in airports due to the hurricane and storms traveling up to the east coast from the Caribbean. Unfortunately due to the airline delays I was unable to pick up my dogs on Saturday July 10th by 11:30 AM as scheduled. On Sunday Barbara O[Brien called my residence to see if I had returned to town. I stated that I had and explained to her how frustrating the trip was and I asked if I could pick up my dogs on that day. Barbara O"Brien stated "absolutely not, it is our family day, and you will have to wait until tomorrow". I expressed my disappointment at not being able to pick up the dogs since I had just been traveling for 24 hours, and I was only a 15 minute trip away from the kennel by car, and they actually lived on the kennel property for a quick pick up. Barbara stated she felt I was blaming her for my travel issues. I advised her I was not blaming her for my travel problems, but I was disappointed I could not pick up my dogs. On Monday Don O'Brien greeted me in his office and proceeded to tell me that he had never seen his wife so upset with anyone in the 32 years he has known her. Don advised that I should try and talk to her. I asked Barbara if she wanted to talk and she said NO. Barbara then stormed out of the office pouting like a child. I advised Don that his wife was totally overreacting, but at this point I just wanted to pick up my dogs and leave. I asked for and received a 60 dollar discount due to the situation of not being able to pick up the dogs on Sunday. Now you know why Don is the Country Bumpkin, and Barbara is the Drama Queen. I have found kennels closer to my home that are available for animal pick up seven days a week. I call this the Never on Sunday kennel, and you would be wise to skip the drama and find a more accommodating kennel. Larry C. read more

We recently had to board all of our animals for a little over a week as we were moving house, and wanted them safe and not underfoot. Barbara and Don were awesome as usual. We knew the dog would be fine, but the cats (3 of them) had never been boarded before, so I was quite anxious about them. Barbara had the cat's enclosures ready for them, and took notes on each cat's temperament. They each had a nice sized condo to hang out in for their stay. The cats were well cared for and when I picked them up to bring them to our new home, they were happy and healthy and their enclosures were spotless. The O'briens run a stellar operation and I continue to recommend them to anyone who asks about boarding in the area. read more

Love the owners Don and Barbara! They take very good care of my two dogs. I love that my dogs are not mingled with the other dogs at play time. They get lots of love and attention. My dogs are happy to see them and tired when they come home from their doggy vacation! My vet recommended them because they take such great care of their own dogs. I hired Don to train my 6-year-old lab mix dog. My dog had been the man of the house for too long! The typical training program is 3 weeks but because my dog was older and very stubborn, Don kept him for another 2 1/2 weeks to get him where he wanted him to be before he went back home, which he didn't have to do, but which I greatly appreciated. And he only charged me for keeping him another week. He was more concerned that my dog would be good for me than with giving me a half-trained, kind-of obedient dog. I have been thrilled w/ the results! Once Don got me trained (the other half of the battle!), I am now able to walk my dog and have him obey my commands. Now I just keep reinforcing what he learned and he's been such a better boy! I have boarded my dogs w/ Barbara and Don for several years and am really grateful for their expertise and way they care for them. read more
