    Quesabirrias

I went specifically for the quesabirrias in August and have been back two more times. If I lived closer... I'd be in trouble. Some of the best quesabirrias I've had so far.

Two Pollo and Two Birria Street Tacos - Mmm!

I liked the tasty food and reasonable prices at this Mexican food truck, which was semi-permanently located just off I-35 at 24th St (the Lamar exit). The menu included a variety of Mexican favorites including street tacos, burritos, quesabirrias (their specialty), quesadillas, tortas and menudo (weekends only). My four street tacos ($2.25 each) were ready just five minutes after I ordered at the window, where the service was mixed - the gray-haired cook was friendly and welcoming while the young man at the window was just accommodative. The tacos had generous portions of tasty, moist, shredded meat with diced onions and cilantro on soft, fresh, double layer 5" tortillas. They came with lime wedges, cucumber slices and two sauces - a tasty mild green and a hot red with a good, but not overwhelming amount of heat - nice! They offer an outside seating area with umbrellas. Overall, very nice!

Let me start by saying by far some of the best tacos I have tasted in a while. The tacos are always good, the food is always fresh. I love how they include Consome sauce when you order the taco that has more than 1. Some people charge for consome, here they automatically add it. They include enough limes and extra onions for the street tacos. The customer service is wonderful if I call they answer questions with no problem. The food is very high quality and they do not over charge. With them being a food truck they get your food completely in a timely manner.

I love the consome soup that we got. The only other place that I found this soup is in California. The lady helping us was very kind and polite. The are was clean and was very well upkeep. We will definitely be returning.

Wow. So good. I ordered the Birria quesabirria to go and it was amazing! Looking forward to visiting this in person soon! My photo doesn't do it justice, I dug in before I took a photo.

I had an asada burrito and 2 pastor tacos. The burrito was 10/10 and very filling. The tacos were fine but I prefer the tacos down the street at El Matador. The meat didn't have a ton of flavor and the whole thing was kind of overwhelmed by the raw tasting corn tortillas they were wrapped in. If you want a burrito I would highly recommend Don Rudy's though.

This food truck doesn't look the most appealing- but DAMN, the food is soooooooo gooooooddddd ! I tried it for the first time about two weeks ago and have had to stop here 4 more times! You can't miss with this food!

Had the asada burrito, wasn't steak tbh it was ground beef. Wasn't great. Tortilla was the best part. Don't believe there was cheese inside either

BOMB A$$ FOOD! The tacos are SO good, best Al pastor I've had. Tacos come with green and red salsa, limes, and radishes. Can't forget to mention how full they pack the tacos. Very nice & fast service. The quesabirria is full of flavor with delicious consomé. A place to visit!

Chips and queso were pretty good. I like that they lightly seasoned the chips. I was expecting the pork and chicken to have a big punch of flavor but it was really lacking. I liked the flour tortilla shells that were used but it would have been better if they had warmed the tortillas first. They do provide a generous serving of meat, but I would have liked more toppings on the tacos. Service was ok. They were able to move through the orders fairly quickly. If anyone is a germaphobe, I wouldn't recommend eating here. I saw he used the same gloves to grab your order card, stick it up near the window, prepare the chips and grab the tortillas. It wasn't that big of a deal but just a heads up if something like that were to bother you.

I got the Dr Pepper burger & an NA grapefruit IPA. The burger was very yummy, as were the fries that came with it. There was a casual sauce for the fries and I loved it. The beer was good, but not amazing. It wasn't made by Red Crow though, it was a can. I know Red Crow makes some top notch beers from visiting them previously, though. I just didn't want alcohol because I went in with a headache & it would have made it worse. Red Crow's ambiance was great, though. It's cute & quirky and very relaxed. Everyone in there seemed happy (staff included). I'll make my way back again in the fall if they have their chai stout back.

Order: Mixed plate for lunch (about 20 minutes). Comes with two charbroiled chicken pieces, half order of grilled steak, rice, tortillas, grilled peppers and onions, salsas, and a cup of charro beans. Chicken: Juicy, smoky, seasoned so well it could compete with tandoori chicken--rare to find that level of flavor. Steak: Tender, flavorful, nicely grilled. Charro beans: Soupy, shockingly good, and well seasoned. Rice: Basic, plain, no real seasoning. Warm tortillas are a nice plus. Peppers & onions: Good flavor, but could be cut thinner and grilled longer. Lime: Small but perfect touch to brighten the meat and beans--attention to detail you rarely see in a food truck. Wish list: Bigger salsa cups without the extra charge, julienned peppers and onions, grilled longer for more flavor and easier eating. The vibe: This is a hidden gem--when Hispanic families and construction crews are making the trip just for this truck, you know it's solid. Gas station itself isn't busy, but the food truck draws a steady lunch crowd. A couple of benches outside, some eat in their cars, lots of carryout. Bottom line: Flavorful meats, generous portions, and thoughtful touches make this a standout. Easily one of the best food truck finds in KC.

Burnt Ends: The best dish of the day, truly a representative of Kansas City barbecue. The perfect balance of fat and lean meat--the fat was tender and oily, the lean was soft and juicy--a truly soul-satisfying experience. Unfortunately, it was a little too salty. Dipping it in the sweet, sour, and slightly spicy Night of the Living Bar-B-Q Sauce neutralized the saltiness and added a touch of stimulation to the taste buds, elevating it to another level. Ribs: Once selected as one of the "America's Best" ribs. The picture shows only half slab, which feels a bit small . The fat melted into the muscle fibers, making the meat firm on the surface but actually tender; it fell off the bone with a gentle touch. The seasoning was very restrained, with only a subtle smoky flavor, highlighting the natural aroma of the meat. It's great with a simple dip of salt and black pepper, but even better with a little lemon juice! Pulled Pork: Tender and juicy, not dry at all, with a rich smoky flavor--the best pulled pork I've ever had. Sausage: Firm and springy, crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, with a rich smoky flavor, a warm aroma of black pepper, and a distinct sweetness. The Z-Man: A legendary sandwich created in 1997. The smoked brisket and Provolone cheese create a robust aroma, while the onion rings add a crispy texture. However, the Joe's Kansas City Bar-B-Que Sauce was too strong and sweet, largely masking the natural flavors of the ingredients. In some ways, it's better enjoyed separately. Creamy Cole Slaw: Standard flavor profile, with just little toppings, quite refreshing. BBQ Beans: A surprisingly delightful side dish! Various beans were stewed with grilled beef brisket and shredded pork. The meat melted in the sauce, resulting in a rich and mellow flavor; the beans were incredibly soft, served hot with a hint of spiciness--a truly comforting meal. Potato Salad: The salad dressing was too creamy and sweet. Slide of Texas Toast: The toast itself was quite ordinary, but soaked in the grilled meat juices, it became completely different! All the meats are pre-grilled, and the staff cuts them according to the order. I imagine it would be even better if they were freshly grilled, but given the price and the self-service nature with no tipping required, it's incredibly affordbale in the US.
