Medical condition prevents me from being able to eat large portions. I regularly order off a kids menu anywhere I go. They tried to add a surcharge simply for being an adult even though there would be no additional food for the additional cost. I usually put the difference in cost between adult and kids plate towards tip. Instead I opted to just not order anything while watching my husband eat. The food was below average. We ordered the mixed Pinnaple fajitas and we got five shrimp and one tacos worth of thin small pieces of chicken and steak (pic below of veggies to meat). Average food, pleasant service but it was extremely slow. We had to ask to move tables to another table and they understood why.

The food was average and the service was terrible. Our waiter didn't seem very familiar with the menu and spent most of his time openly talking on his phone. We asked for a refill of chips and salsa, which we never got. We had to remind him that one of our entrees came with tortillas, but we did get those later, and our drinks were refilled promptly. This is becoming one of my favorite Mexican restaurants in the area. Their chips and salsa are delicious, the loaded guacamole is a solid must have staple for an appetizer. Well, we went on a Friday night, didn't seem busy at all but we still got put on a wait for a party of 4. I'm giving this place 2 stars for the salsa only. It's actually really good. We ordered queso for the kids, that came out fairly quick, but we also ordered the chorizo queso for us. No kidding we waited 30 minutes for that to come out at the same time as my entree only. Mine was cold already, and the kids meals and my husband's meal didn't show at all. We walked out and went to Culver's. I don't recommend this place on a busy night. read more

To say I was extremely disappointed in this place would be an understatement. I was just expecting more. I was seated right away, which was a positive and they were not busy at all. I ordered the Shrimp Fajitas, which was a major disappointment. When I order Fajitas I expect them to come back to my table "sizzling" hot, which was NOT the case here. The food was just warm and I thought they were skimpy on the shrimp. I had to track my waitress down for napkins along with some tortillas and they were soggy. The waitress wasn't attentive at all, until it was towards the end of my meal and time for me to pay. Towards the end of my meal she got extremely pushy. She came by the table multiple times to see if I had the check ready to process. They had about another 90 minutes before they closed for the evening, so I'm not sure what the rush was all of a sudden. Very annoying! The place had your typical Mexican decor for this style of restaurant with music playing in the background. Overall a big disappointment! read more

I came in on a Friday night with a friend. We were seated right away and service was friendly enough, but we both noticed as we sat down our table had not been cleaned very well, and there was food all over the floor underneath the table. I'm unsure why we weren't seated at a clean table as there were plenty available. Onto the food. I generally trust Mexican restaurants to be able to deliver a decent vegetarian option (so many delicious options with rice and beans alone!) but I did not find that to be the case here. I ordered a fajita burrito (menu stated veggies were peppers, onions, and mushrooms) and asked for the meat to be subbed with black beans - and the burrito came out filled with broccoli and cauliflower, amongst a few other veggies and a piece of shrimp, which I found very odd. I'm not sure if the kitchen was running low on fajita veggies or what, but it was definitely one of the weirder Mexican meals I've had. The rice and black bean sides, along with the typical chips and salsa, were just OK. Maybe part of the problem was my entree choice, and going meatless - but I wasn't terribly impressed. I will probably not try this location again, and will look for a more authentic Mexican location in the area instead. read more

I ate here for the first time today and had a great experience! The server was attentive and friendly. I loved the chips & salsa and the guac was also really good. There were 6 of us and the food came out really quickly which surprised me for a Saturday evening. The portions were gigantic! I do not recommend this place to anyone. The tables were dirty and the food was not appetizing. I got the chile relleno and when the server brought it it was stone cold so I asked if it could be heated up. When ahe brought it back the contents of cheese had come totally out of the chile and was a cheese sauce. It was disgusting. It was inedible. Our server never once asked us how our food was. I would have told her but was never asked. My husband got the tampiquena plate and the beef was chewy. Save yourself a trip and so not waste your money. read more

Service was just okay, nothing special. I sat at the bar and ordered hard shell beef tacos and a side of refried beans. The beans were good and the beer was cold. Can't say anything good about the tacos. The first taco I picked up, the bottom fell out along with most of the filling. The shells just got soggier as they sat on my plate while I ate. The ground beef in the tacos tasted very bland. No flavor. Reminded me of unseasoned boiled ground beef. Probably won't be going back. read more

This is a perfectly acceptable turn and burn Mexican restaurant near the Legends shopping complex. All of your favorites are on the menu. They are served piping hot in large portions. Unfortunately, service could be better. Our server wandered off a couple of times and was slow to take our orders and provide refills. On 3/5/24 me and a couple of my friends met up for dinner. Waiter did not greet us or introduce herself. Ordered our drinks - We went to the restroom and when we came out the managers We're hover over the exits as if we were going to dine and ditch. Keep in mind that our drinks took 20 minutes to come out. Food: Meat was DRY. When they brought the bill we were hovered to make sure we took care of the bill and felt very rushed and everyone watched us left it was very overwhelming and uncomfortable. I do not recommend. Date 08/22/2025 12:01PM Order # 00501 Server Cajero. I called my order in over the phone due to the online ordering was not available. The customer service i received was horrible. The server Cajero (per my receipt) was argumentative when i informed her my order was incorrect. Some of the food was made incorrectly, we were missing items and I received complaints about soggy tacos. I do want to say thank you to the young man that assisted me with my concerns when i returned to the restaurant. Even when he stepped in the correct the error. The server Cajero still wanted to continue to tell me I ordered my personal food wrong. I have a food allergy so I am very careful when it comes to ordering. Went to this restaurant for a business meeting as soon as I walked through the door there was no customer service and I had to proceed to find my table. Once I found my table I was able to check the menu out to see my options. I ordered the platter which included a variety assortment of beautiful food. The pork tamale was great also rice and beans were great. The ground beef taco I let get soggy but it was great. I will go back to this restaurant. read more

After a morning of shopping at NFM, my husband was hungry for Mexican food. We decided to give El Toro Loco a try. We were greeted quickly and chips and salsa were brought promptly to the table. The salsa was pretty neutral. Some chunks of onion and cilantro forward. The menu is quite expansive with many dishes and combinations. We were waited on by Carlos who was very nice. I ordered 3 street tacos al pastor (my litmus test for good Mexican food). My husband got the taco platter. My tacos were very good, but I think the meat could have been seasoned more. My husband said his tacos were really good. I tried the refried beans from his plate and they were excellent. Overall, I would recommend you check this place out. The service and ambience are fine but the restaurant recently went through a new management change and went through drastic changes to the menu!!! The tacos were great in the past, they changed the meat and the cheese entirely!!! The beef had no flavor at all and the cheese is now no better than Taco Bell we informed them that they were no longer going to frequent the restaurant anymore. Went to this place with my husband last night. They were busy, we waited at least 20 minutes and finally got a table. Took the waiter over 10 minutes to acknowledge us after the scowling chip person set down chips and salsa without a smile or even a hello. Salsa was OK, chips were a bit greasy and unsettled my stomach. Waiter finally came over (after ignoring us twice walking by), didn't say his name and dutifully took our order. We planned to share the Special Dinner which comes on 2 plates and includes a Taco, chile rellano, tostada, a couple of enchiladas, rice and beans. I'm a big mexican food fan, and not particularly picky, but this food was gross. Standing oil on the plate mixed in with cheese, the oil tasted a bit rancid even, old at best. The beans had a weird aftertaste, none of it was good. We paid the server and left after several bites (the beef Taco was edible, tostada was just OK). All I can figure is because the Legends KC is a tourist destination for lots of folks from out of town, it's a one and done vacation dinner for lots of people. Not a favorite. The building is rough that they're in, sidewalks falling apart, bathrooms very rough and it just feels sad when you walk in. I had the lunch chicken fajitas, here's a word to the wise, the lunch "specials" aren't special. They're maybe $1 less than the normal menu. Cheese dip was okay. Salsa was good. Iced tea was meh. I will complain about the food. The chips had a rancid frying oil aftertaste. The salsa was flavorless. My husbands fajitas had zero seasoning not even salt. My taco was tasteless. Zero flavor in anything we ordered. Mexican food is one of our favorite kind of food. We eat it a lot, even at home. And it's because of the spices and seasonings. It's not happening here.
