From the beginning, I clearly explained exactly what I wanted in a vehicle, and the salesperson even wrote down the specific feature that was most important to me. I was repeatedly assured that the vehicle included that feature, only to later discover that it does not. Since then, I have felt ignored and dismissed. The general manager told me he was considering either refunding my money or finding a solution to address the issue, which gave me hope that the situation would be resolved fairly. However, after leading me to believe progress was being made for two weeks, I have now gone another two weeks without any communication at all. I am left with a brand-new $35,000 vehicle that I regret purchasing and rarely drive because I am so unhappy with it. More than anything, I feel misled and taken advantage of throughout this process. I purchased a new Kona in 2022. This dealership definitely has serious issues with Customer Service. Especially with SERVICE dept. I am still having trouble with them (3yrs). I am a woman so that may be part of the problem. The process to call them is impossible. They will NOT return my emails or voicemails. They set up an appt. for me three times and when I get there (30 mi. away) I hear, "we don't have you scheduled" and they made the appt. I despise Don Wood. I will NEVER deal with them again. I am ready to trade my car in, because of the crappy/no customer service at Don Wood. I dealt with the one in Athens. I also went to Don Wood in Logan for warranty problems. The complete lack of communication and disregard for customer concerns was unprofessional and unacceptable. The issue was only resolved after I prepared to file complaints with regulatory agencies. While I eventually received proper documentation, the 48-day delay and poor service were completely unnecessary. Recommendation: I cannot recommend this dealership based on this experience and the documented pattern of similar problems. Future customers should ensure all documentation is correct before leaving, demand immediate temporary registration, and be aware of this dealership's history of regulatory compliance issues. This dealership has repeatedly quoted me one price for services and added on items without my consent at check out. I complained the 3rd time I was there to their shop mgr. and he implied I was lying and said, "That isn't what I see on my screen and if I didn't like I could go elsewhere!". He didn't realize I had my original receipt and I asked to have a copy of my prior services receipt that he was talking about. The copy shows they had removed the item in question that I was charge/paid for and now showing a different lower cost in their inventory system. I tried to speak to both Tanner Wood and Jeff Wood neither returned my calls. Took my car to another service shop and showed him my paperwork. I sent daily messages to Michael their sales representative, receiving AI generated assurances that my vehicle will be delivered soon. After waiting for 20 days, I sent a message to cancel the release on March 5. After I did not receive any response, I assumed that the lease had been cancelled. Come to find out today after I received a bill from Hyundai finance, that my lease had been started on January 31st. I still have not received my car. We purchased our truck about 3 months ago. The traction control light came on the other day so we made an appointment with DonWood in Athens, but by the time the appointment arrived the light had turned off. Upon arrival they did not provide any estimate of services that we agreed to, in fact the estimate on file for diagnostics stated $0.00. They ran codes and saw the history that the traction light did in fact come on and my fiancé rode along to see if they could hear the noise we were hearing and they could not. They noticed that the spare tire was loose so they tightened that down, this was the extent of their "repairs". Then when it was time to talk cost they claimed 1hour of labor for $200 and $20 in "shop supplies charges". With taxes this trip came out to $235. I am begrudgingly paying it, but I'll let you be the judge if this is the place for you. read more

The waiting area is dirty with food crumbs on the floor and literal trash over flowing out of the trash cans. Bathrooms are dirty and not stocked at all. This dealership uses the "Black Book" to value vehicle trades. This book uses the LOWEST amount given for a vehicle at recent automobile auction. Don Wood's valuation seemingly does not account for mileage, condition, or options/packages for your particular vehicle. This very negatively undervalues your trade. To add to this insult, it appears that Don Wood's used car selling prices are valued not by the "Black Book," but by some other higher valuation such as Kelly or Edmunds. beware of these scammers!!! this dealership scammed me on the purchase of a 2012 chevy equinox and concealed major engine issues in order to get the sale. not to mention we paid way more than the car was worth! they knew our situation was desperate and we needed a vehicle that day which they took to their full advantage! only got 10 miles down the road the day we bought it and the check engine light came on and it was pulling multiple trouble codes! the dealer had already closed at that point so i called them first thing the next morning and they refused to do anything to help us! they unhooked the battery to make the check engine light go away and to conceal the major issues the car was having! checked the oil 2 days after we got it because the motor sounded like a diesel engine and was knocking! come to find it was completely bone dry on oil! little did i know the car would continue to drink oil we were putting 4 quarts in it every 1000 miles! we only got to drive the car for 4500 miles and got the oil changed one time as specified by manufacturer. over the course of the 4500 miles we put over 30 quarts of oil in it! then finally it had consumed so much oil that the timing chain jumped time and ruined the entire motor. don wood told me i had to purchase a service contract thru wynns plus or i wouldn't be eligible for financing when the motor failed completey i thought this service contract they made me get and cost me almost $1800 more would pay for the failure but nope after a month of going back and forth they refused to pay for the motor replacement! $6000 it cost me to replace the engine and now it still needs another $1300 in work (our payoff is still $7500 and its not even worth $3k now) our local dealership service manager said the motor had already endured significant damage when i took it in 2 days after i purchased it from don wood! which again proved they sold me a vehicle and concealed the engine problems! i am now working with a dealership fraud lawyer don wood will pay for their scamming fraudulent ways! read more
