My latest was to arrive - 4-5 weeks after our last appointment with a "we have to redo forms, scan insurance card, drivers license, etc as it's a new year.". Nothing has changed? "Yeah - it's our policy." Really? Policy or complete inefficiency? Inefficiency for sure. I then had to sign 3 printed sheets - (is this 2023? Or 1993?). I received a 3 page receipt which I didn't even need a printed receipt for a $15 copay. Why waste the paper and tree? Why not at least ask me if I wanted or needed? Or even better email if I need it (doubtful). Doctor experience ?- great. Office experience? - terrible.

Being as smart as I am ;-), I knew not to go to my primary physician because they would just send me to the hospital for x-rays. I also knew that if I went to a sports medicine Doctor, they would have an x-ray machine onsite and the doctors specialize in injuries such mine. After some research, and calling around a few places, the DMC Sports Medicine office was accommodating for same day service. The receptionist who answered the phone was so so nice and said she could get me into the office to see Dr. Kakos in the afternoon. As many as you have experienced, the receptionists usually think they are doing us a favor by allowing us to be seen- not a this place. Everyone, including the nurse was very pleasant and helpful. Moving on to Dr. Kakos! He was amazing! He had a great attitude, listened, and very thorough. He explained the pros and cons and how he came to his diagnosis. I am so glad I found a good Doctor that specializes in injuries related to the gym/sports.. etc etc. Also, I was very happy that I didn't wait at all.. I was in and out with a x-ray within 1 hour. If I had gone to the ER, I would have been there for 5-6 hours.

My husband has to tell the staff member (no clue what their qualifications are) that the person she was looking for was in room 4 as he heard every detail of the event through the walls. Luckily we are only dealing with bones and ligaments? I guess HIPPA doesn't apply to orthopedic patients? Oh, but it does. We then get a call from a third party ( the next day) asking us to verify the delivery address for the right knee scooter the dr ordered. Since my husband has a left ankle issue, I obviously didn't verify our address for delivery of room number 4's scooter. Such a disaster. We are now in need of a second opinion as we have zero confidence in all aspects of this practice.

Hearing that, from your doctor that you've seen over and over again and after doing physical therapy, can leave you with a bad feeling in the pit of your stomach. But after going here I realize that all that anxiety was wasted and I'm so glad that my doctor referred me to this specialist. I was scheduled for an EMG test which is basically a nerve test. It shows if you have misfiring in your nerves because of a pinched nerve and other things. This office does do other neurological tests from what I understand, but this is what I went in for. Now this test I knew nothing about until my doctor's office told me (when they gave me the referral). They told me there were needles and electricity involved and I really got freaked out. Then when I called and I made my appointment they were so kind, and said anything you may have heard about this test most of that doesn't happen here. They explained the procedure but I still googled it. That was a bad mistake. Do yourself a favor ask your doctor questions and don't ever look anything up. People post the worst stories and yes, they might have had a bad experience, but everything that I did read online about this procedure was kind of outdated. The needles that were used for my procedure were almost like an acupuncture pin. If you look it up online and there are long probes that are as thick as a safety pin and as long as your middle finger. That's why I had anxiety all day When I came in and I met Dr. Brennan he knew almost immediately what my issue was just by touching my thumb. That's what a sharp mind and 30 years of experience will do for you. Everything I told him he said was completely textbook and I was so easy and he made me feel so much better. To have an accurate diagnosis that now and MRI will confirm exactly how to treat I know that I will be better sooner than later. I'm going to keep Dr. Brennan in mind if I need to go back for any more physical therapy or any more tests and I will specifically ask for him if the occasion comes up. Hopefully I'll never have to go back or not until much much later in life.... but now that I know that all of us who do any bending twisting and lifting can have these problems, there is a solution and you will feel better.

We interviewed several highly recommended surgeons and chose Dr Vibert based on recommendations from other doctors and our meeting with him. Very pleased with that decision. Dr Vibert has excellent bedside manner. Explained the procedures in a manner that we could understand, very personable and caring. Surgery and aftercare has been great! A dying breed of doctors who gave us his cell phone for any after surgery concerns etc. and responded almost instantly every time. Husband is very pleased with the results and although it will be a bit of time to get back to a new "normal" we would recommend this doctor to anyone who needs back surgery. Such an important decision choosing a surgeon for this type of procedure and we feel blessed to have chosen Dr Vibert.

I wanted to share a review of Dr. K and his staff. I went to their office in severe sciatic pain…read moreand having to stay in bed the majority each day. So, as you can see, I felt a dire need for someone to help me. Dr. K was one of the kindest, professionals I have ever met. He really listened and together we agreed on a surgical plan. His office coordinated with me to get all the necessary prior tests completed. His staff is really on top of their game everyday. Every question was answered in a timely fashion. So I felt confident in the process and choice I made. The surgery day came and it did take longer than expected. But the care was never changed, he worked hard on my back to complete a fusion of the 4-5 area. The recovery as he had stated takes some time and a will to get better. It has now been six months and yes I am glad to have had the procedure. I still have a ways to go to reach a one year mark. I am confident I will continue to improve. If you are nervous, worried or in pain, seek a consultation to get a definitive answer to what is happening. Dr. K spends whatever amount of time needed to explain and advise you of his recommendations. I do not believe I have ever had a physician this caring and personable as Dr. K is. Dr. Nowinski himself is a great Surgeon and did an awesome job repairing my shattered ankle over…read morethe Summer. His office staff however seem to be extremely incompetent and rude. I had changed phone numbers and updated the staff with this new information when I was scheduling a recheck appointment after my surgery. A month goes by and it is the day of my appointment. I drive all the way there only to find out they had cancelled my appointment three weeks prior because he was going to be out of town, yet they failed to properly notify me. They said they tried to call me, but got a message saying the line was no longer in service. After asking which number they tried calling it was apparent they never updated my records like I had thought. My immediate thought was "If they had cancelled the appointment three weeks ago and couldn't reach me by phone, why did they not send me a letter in the mail notifying me as well as asking me to update my contact info with them?" I asked this and the girl just looked at me dumbfounded and clueless. No apology what-so-ever for wasting my time, gas and most importantly my patience. Most recently I had another recheck scheduled (this time over two months in advance) and I missed the appointment. I do take some responsibility for this as I should have marked it in my calendar, but I am pretty irked that I didn't get a reminder phone call or even a call after I missed the appointment to make sure everything was okay. Any other doctors office I have ever gone to has always given a reminder call 24 or 48 hours prior. If not a live person then a recording which is just as good. When I called to reschedule I asked if they normally do reminder calls for appointments and the lady had this snotty tone to her voice and said no as if I had just asked her some kind of joke question. Like a "how dare you ask me" type thing. Okay then... - Bottom Line - Doctor = Awesome Staff = Poop
