And for good reason. The portions are ginormous and I'm always left satisfied. Last night's sandwich was a beast of a meal. The Viking contained mountains of roast beef (sliced to order) and a heaping helpful of delicious horseradish mayo. Winner winner, roast beef dinner. The sweet potatoes were long and tender. Compared to other SPF's around town, they're run of the mill, but still very good. You can never go wrong with Valhalla Grill. Check 'em out for yourself!

Tonight's special, the Smashburger, was the meal my husband ordered. It is half a lb with caramelized onions, American cheese, and bacon. You can get any entree in combo form with sweet potato or crumble fries, tater tots or eggplant fries. In addition, you can add poutine or beer cheese to your sides. Sadly they were out of beer cheese, but I was not disappointed with the eggplant fries and horseradish mayo I got with my Phoenix or spicy version of a gyro. I think someone who can handle a bit of spice can tackle the Phoenix because it is slightly spicy, but not very spicy with its Thai sauce. I got a "smaller" burger for my son, but it is as big as his head. He will have lunch for tomorrow as well. My daughter chose The Curry Phoenix, but got the sauce on the side because she is sensitive to spicy dishes. We will be back and often! I am so grateful they are located nearby, even if it is only temporary.

With food, there's usually about 8 trucks or so scattered around, with everything from pizza, tacos, and reuben sandwiches to cupcakes and other sweets. Plus, you can take advantage of the businesses in the cottages for sweet ice cream, peanut brittle, and snowballs (which were my personal favorite). Remember to bring a camp chair or blanket, as there is no seating available. Also, if you want, you can bring beer or wine. Finally, you could end up having to park all the way down the street, so you may want to arrive early just in case.

The stage was angled oddly this time so it was not directly facing the majority of the crowd. Also, there was a huge tree right in front of the stage which blocked the view. Parking is a pain typically with any event at Lake Ella. There were 7 food trucks out there this time, which includes Lucy & Leo's cupcakes in an adorable vintage style camper. I bought food from El Criollo and Street Chefs. Friends bought food from Valhalla and Fired Up Pizza. Overall, if the weather is good, this is a relaxing way to spend an evening out.

Tallahassee's newest Food Truck Gathering Place is in Killearn every Wednesday in The Parking Lot…read moreof the old Food Lion Shopping Center,,let's start with the good in that it's got two of my favorite food trucks in town every week(Donaven's and Valhalla Grill) and The Cake Shop has a booth set up as well...you cant go wrong with the food at either of the previously mentioned food trucks with The Shepards Pie at Donaven's and The Roast Beef Sandwich(The Viking) and The Bleu Cheese Burger(The Blue Ox) at Valhalla Grill being particularly noteworthy...The Cake Shop also brings a selection of cakes and cupcakes out there which are all great and they are the best Cake Shop in town and far superior to Tasty Pastry IMO...now for the not so good...it takes place in a parking lot with a view of a run down shopping center and a Circle K with cars whizzing by on Kerry Forest Parkway...certainly not the ambience of The Food Truck Rally at Lake Ella or even First Friday at Railroad Square...after you get your food there is no where to sit but a few picnic tables so most people just take their food home to eat, so this prevents this Food Truck Rally from becoming a communal scene like a lot of them do...the amount of food trucks is not enough right now and this leads to most of the food trucks running out of food long before the stated 8:00 closing times...besides the ones previously mentioned El Criollo..A Wood Fired Pizza Truck..a Cambodian Food Truck..and a Hamburger/Hot Dog Food Truck are usually there...with the big crowds that show up every week it would be nice if some of the other really good Tally Food Trucks like Mobi and Foodz Traveler would start coming so that there would be more selection and food..even though I am a big fan of Food Truck Wednesday I can only give it 3 stars for the reasons I mentioned and when comparing it to other Tally Food Truck Events like Lake Ella Thursday and First Friday...it's in it's beginning growth stages right now and I am hopeful in the future I will be able to up my rating if the rally expands,,,definitely worth going to now, but get there early to assure yourself of getting food else you may end up settling for a nasty hot dog on the rollers at Circle K across the street

We have had all kinds of different versions of bbq all over the country. They can vary quite a bit and we have never had a bad experience; but King's, now called Drive-Thru BBQ Tally, right here in Tallahassee, is my favorite by far. Thank you to the foodies who alerted us to this location. I am not one to be able to break down the intricacies of ingredients and flavor profiles, I am only able to give a general idea of the taste. His sauce is not a thick tomato based one like most and the meat is not overly rubbed or seasoned but has a good smoke flavor to it. His sauce is the consistency of maple syrup with the color of golden honey. It is sweet and flavorful, which I love. I have never seen bbq sauce like this. We braved a Tallahassee afternoon monsoon today and got soaking wet getting our order and it was worth it. We ordered the DT BBQ Bundle #1, which included 1.5 slabs smoked ribs (I counted 20 bones); 5 smoked chicken leg quarters with thighs and drumsticks separated, and five smoked sausage links, as well as four large sides. We chose baked beans, mac and cheese, cole slaw and potato salad. The sides are great and round out a full meal. The smoked sausages are some of the best I have had anywhere. There is more than enough food for five to ten adults. We will be using this for meals for several days. At less than $50, this is the best meal deal in town, bar none! The menu includes ribs, chicken or sausage dinners, pulled pork and pulled chicken sandwiches, desserts, and more sides than we named above. Drive-Thru BBQ is at the corner of 7th Avenue and Thomasville Road in Mid-Town. They are open Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays from noon to 8(or until they sell out). Very limited outdoor seating taken up by 1-2 students and all their books. So...Don't expect to sit and enjoy once you've got your food, unless you like eating standing up. If you've never had a lumpia, it's basically an egg roll but better. The wrapping is less doughy and more flavorful but if you see it and say 'egg roll' you won't exactly be wrong since that's how you say egg roll in Spanish. You're welcome, now you can order food and won't starve when stuck somewhere where they only speak Spanish...like Miami. Very large portion for the meal itself. The adobo chicken was tasty but the rice's blandness didn't highlight it but take it away. Would be better if they served it on less rice with a small side salad.
