I called this company to come and give me a quote on doing some landscaping and hardscaping work on my house. I have an 11k sq ft yard and I was ready to spend whatever it took to get my yard looking its best. I had a 3 pm appt and at 2:59 I received a call that he was waiting on some loam so could he move it to 5:30-6:30...I said sure no problem. When he arrived what I met was the most rude rep. I couldn't believe how abrasive he was from the get-go.... He starts off by insulting things around my yard saying "whoever did it did it wrong' and you need to get this replaced (fairly new walkway)... Which would not have ruffled my feathers...I like direct feedback. He said do you want this done and I said can you tell me what the cost would be and I can tell you, but let's look at everything and we can come up with a plan once I know how this works... I guess he didn't like that and said well I'm not going to WASTE MY TIME and go through everything if you aren't going to do the services....Whoa buddy...SMH I was stunned and said "are you sure you want to say that to me?" I couldn't believe it... First of all, I never said that I wasn't getting service done and it was literally only a few minutes after his arrival. Are we supposed to start signing every dotted line right when you walk up. Like what??? What I can say is I not only was willing to pay thousands for this work, but I specialize in the home industry and have clients every day that need these services. I really admired the work I saw around town from this company, but I will never ever use or recommend this company due to the experience I just had. If I recommended them and he talked to my client like that I would be horrified.... You don't talk to people like that. I don't know if you think we the customers are beneath you, but you should have the decency to at least take 5 minutes to go over the process. Needless to say, I said "You know what I wont waste your time. This conversation is over." and he said Are you serious? lol YES, I am very serious. I don't need to be spoken to like that and there are thousands of other companies I will be happy to give my business and my clients' business to who will speak to me with respect. I was patient and professional and I am so very disappointed in my experience. That was completely unnecessary. Business is business but it starts with building rapport and for that you get an F! I highly recommend Bruce and team at Done Right Landscape. I wanted a chain link fence removed from my property replaced with a 6 foot vinyl privacy fence as well as some additional fencing and a gate to fully close off my yard. I got 3 estimates from local companies and decided to go with Bruce and I'm very happy with my decision. From the moment he showed up at my house for the estimate you can tell that he is very passionate and knowledgeable about what he does. He brings his tablet so he can give you a estimate on the spot and he took the time to go over different options and show me pictures/examples of things he's done for other customers. I decided to go with his company and his time estimate was 3-4 weeks due to COVID material supply backlogs (which was actually at least 2-4 weeks sooner than the other estimates I got). His timing was accurate and he started my fence within 4 weeks. Him and his crew got this project done in under 2 days, staying until 6-7 pm to make sure I'd have my fenced in yard by the weekend. The fence came out beautiful (see pics) and I've already gotten compliments from anyone who comes by. Bruce takes great pride in his quality of work and goes the extra mile for his customers. One example: he put down loam under my new fence to fill some gaps. He told me make sure you seed and fertilize that so the grass can grow. I started to ask questions about what to buy (because I am new to this) and he said actually don't worry about it, I'll come back tomorrow (a Saturday) and will seed and fertilize it for you. Sure thing, I look out my window the next morning to see not only had he put down seed and fertilizer, he was out there watering it with the hose. That is the type of extra service that is never expected but always appreciated. I found Bruce to be professional, responsive, and a perfectionist every step of the way...all important qualities in someone doing work on your home. Outstanding Service - Done Right! I am so impressed by Done Right. It is the perfect name to describe the owner Bruce's passion, quality, consideration, and friendliness. If you are considering any landscaping projects you want to call Bruce. I am so happy I did. My wife and I take regular walks and hikes throughout most of Middlesex and couldn't help but notice over the years the many properties with immaculate landscaping and design by Done Right. I have used landscapers over the years and quite honestly have become frustrated with the service and cost. As much as I like taking care of my own lawn, I know my limits. It's like coaching soccer when the children were young. You may only go so far before you need somebody who does it for a living. I wanted to aerate my lawn and decided that this may be an opportunity to meet Done Right. I called on a late afternoon last Friday and reached Bruce. I had never met him. When I told Bruce what I was looking for and asked him if he would consider that small job he immediately said of course. He asked where I lived and when I told him near the Stoneham/Wakefield line he said that he was actually going to be in that area quoting a hardscape project and could stop by and take a look. How is that for a quick turnaround. Bruce came by early evening and I was immediately impressed on how friendly, kind, and outgoing he is. I appreciated how he took a careful walk throughout the property and how he notices every single detail! He never once tried to push any other services on me although it is clear he loves his work and loves to talk about how he travels throughout the world for real ideas, designs, and how to properly upkeep and maintain. When I asked how soon he could do the aeration since I wanted to overseed he said he'll do it Monday or 'Tuesday if I wanted. He knew it was important to me to have it done soon and he wanted to take care of us. Well there he was with his crew today, Monday. I quickly saw that their equipment isn't what you rent at Home Depot, It's the real thing. As they aerated, Bruce starting using a cultivator to prepare certain damaged parts of my lawn for seen. I felt bad that they were just supposed to aerate and here him and his team are also going along the edges making sure everything was Done Right. Bruce also noticed that our Red Bud tree had several branches touching the house. He was begging me to let them prune it at no cost! That's the way he is. He truly is passionate. He was very thorough explaining what he was doing and listened to my concerns. I asked for a magazine job and obviously that comes with a price. I was impressed with the attention to detail of Bruce and his crew. Bruce was always onsite making sure that everything met his high standards. Bruce's experience in the industry shined through when I was soliciting quotes and asked for other landscapers to give me their vision and they couldn't. Bruce was able to design a beautiful space for my family and friends to gather. The initial work was done last July and I hired his crew back again this year to replant the annuals around the pool. Had a great experience with Done Right Landscaping. I called the office on a Monday, and Bruce, the owner, came that same day for a free estimate. The yard was a jungle and I was nervous about the bill so we were shopping around, but Bruce was really professional and didn't push us to get anything more than what we needed (which was very bare minimum because we were on a budget). Yard gets done 2 days later while I am at work and I come home to a beaaaautiful yard that even my idiot teenage brother complemented (took notice of). Bruce (the owner) and his team at Done Right performed the following for this job: Edging and mowing of the front lawn, clearing of rocks from plant beds, re-mulching and re-soiling plant beds, clean-up and beautification of the front yard trees - which included very clean tree-base cutouts and generous mulch mounds around the base. Done Right also planted two healthy Rhododendrons and gave very thorough instructions for maintaining them while they set their roots. We had options for mulches, and we went with black mulch (as per Bruce's recommendation). In the back yard, we had Done Right remove a fallen tree and all the leaves and branches left behind. There was no wood chip mess at all. The team removed the 5-foot-tall stump from the ground by hand, and everything is very clean. The work looks amazing. We are repeat customers, and call Bruce at Done Right for all our landscaping needs. The work is top notch, and his team is very professional and talented. We are moving soon, and Done Right has made our yard look great, and ready to sell. Bruce arrived at the house on time, and with a few of his trucks ready to go. The team was very polite and hard-working. Bruce makes sure to keep good communication throughout the process. Everything was very easy. The only reason I give them 2 stars instead of 1 is because Bruce was super responsive to a phone requesting a quote for yard clean up and a maintenance contract. However, he said he would get back to us and never did. Its been 3 weeks now. I even followed up via email after 1 week and mentioned that they didn't have to do our back yard which I was told was going to be difficult for them because we had a fence up. Nothing. If you don't want the job, or you are too busy, just say so. Don't leave customers in the dark. read more

Biggest a hole I ever met. I would never do business with this company. The guy came over, made fun of every aspect of my house even though I just moved in. Basically told me how poor I was and then laughed and didn't even give me an estimate because he assumed that I had no money when I had just made 320,000 from selling my last house. We've had this done by other companies in the past, but the amount of work and time Done Right put into our yard was amazing. People were picking weeds between the tiniest of stones, which was so appreciated. Bruce & Co did a great job demo-ing existing stuff and installing a PVC fence in the backyard, complete with finishing touches like a rock border. He also cleaned out a flower bed in the front, and planted all new greenery. When some of the original plants died, Bruce came back out and replaced them with new ones that are thankfully still alive. Everything was top notch work, looked great. It wasn't cheap, but it was worth it. It's obvious Bruce takes great pride in his work and puts his customers first. Recommended. read more

I am just now getting around to writing a review for work done at the end of the Fall for cleanup around my property. I had a ton of leaves and had tried raking them myself but realized it was going to be too huge a job. I called Bruce, and he was able to get the job done in a very timely manner. My lawn and flowerbeds and all around the house were meticulously raked; They were thorough and left everything looking great. They took away all the abundant leaves and even hauled away the several paper bags I had filled myself. My house is on a very hilly lot with plenty of trees and is not easy to work on; I really appreciate the quality of the work and will call Done Right in the future, for sure. P. S. Bruce came back to check my gutters for leaves after the job had been done because it had rained and I had a problem with water in my basement. He was able to check them out and reassure me that I had the screens/covers on them so my gutters were not clogged with leaves. (I thought that may have been contributing to my basement issue.) My yard & lawn was in desperate need for some work. Being a new homeowner, I knew I needed some help in getting it "back into shape". I researched several landscaping companies, but Bruce from Done Right came out on top in terms of giving my lawn the attention it needed. He accommodated to my schedule and came on a Sunday afternoon. He spent more time than I anticipated to examine the grounds and provide several suggestions on how I can make my lawn look better. I gave the job to Done Right and they did not disappoint. They came earlier than expected because they saw the rainy forecast ahead and wanted to get the job done before hand. They worked on my lawn spanning 2 days and their team worked hard to get everything looking great. His team also threw in some bonuses that I wasn't expecting. Apparently during the job, one of my gutters came loose and when I asked Bruce about it, he said that his team told him the gutter was already loose. However, without hesitation Bruce made the extra trip back to my house and took care of it anyway. We even discussed future projects down the line and he provided rough estimates so I can think about it. I needed a fairly large project completed at a newly purchased home. Left messages twice with their answering service seeking a call back to get an estimate. Two calls in the span of three weeks. Never heard back. Called a third time and again got the answering service. It could be that this company is too busy to return calls because they are so good at what they do. First, I want to apologize to my significant other who told me that Bruce was very mean to her on the phone when she called to talk to him about the gate his team installed 2 years ago had started to break. I thought she was exaggerating when she said Bruce immediately blamed us for being abusive or negligent because he installed the top quality product and it would be impossible for the gate to come apart without it being our fault. I thought she was exaggerating but I had a conversation with Bruce tonight and I couldn't believe how much he tried to insult and patronize me. Two years ago we used Bruce and his team to build a fence and install a gate around our yard so we could feel safe letting our 3 kids play in the yard without them potentially running into the street. At the time I remember we chose Done Right because Bruce kept talking about how awesome he was and how he uses the top quality products and how much the other guys suck and always cut corners which need to be fixed a few years later. I specifically remember and appreciating him talking about how he focuses on building relationships rather than just doing jobs. At any rate, I found the latch on the gate partially torn a few months ago and tried to email and leave messages for Bruce with no response until a week ago when he spoke with my significant other. The latch eventually broke off altogether so the gate can no longer close. I wanted to verify from Bruce if he'd absolved himself from our situation during his conversation with my significant other, so I called to confirm. This is so I could make a decision to use his team to fix it, or simply use someone else. I called him tonight, he answered, I reminded him of who I was and the conversation from a week ago, then I directly asked if he absolved himself from the broken gate situation so I could figure out the best team to get it fixed. He refused to answer for 7.5 minutes and expressed how he wasn't going to pay for it and how the only way the gate could break would be if someone abused it by slamming it or neglected to close it and that it was a commercial grade product and he didn't appreciate that I was accusing him of coming to my house and purposely breaking my gate and that gates don't just break on their own, none of which was relevant to what I asked. I tried to make it clear that I was only asking whether he absolved himself from responsibility of the broken gate. This made him hostile and he started asking if I had a brain and proceeded to explain that he doesn't want to waste time answering stupid questions. The patronization of the possibility I didn't have a brain came up about four times and he repeated himself many times until he finally absolved himself by saying nothing was his fault and he takes no responsibility for the gate latch breaking off. Although I disagree, I'm ok with the fact that he thinks it's my fault and he doesn't take responsibility. I just don't understand the hostility and defensive attacks to what I thought was a fair question. On the plus side, the fence pieces are still standing. That might be worth 1 star. Perhaps using Bruce and team would be a good idea if you don't plan on calling him when things go wrong. read more

Each time I was asked "BRUCE hasn't contacted you yet", "well, he likes to come out and see the property" OK but how will BRUCE know what I want for landscaping? I called done right based on these high reviews for a fence estimate. Bruce was very fast with a reply and to schedule an appointment. Come that weekend day at our appointment time 10 am, Bruce called and stated a job was running late and could he come later (noon), sure I said. That time came and I got another call, sure Bruce I'll wait another few hours as he stated they would be finishing up and he would be over after 2pm. Well, Bruce not only never showed up but never called back.....ever. What I recalled after that day was my first conversation with Bruce telling him I found him based on his high yelp reviews, I remember him saying he wasn't surprised they were high and that his only bad reviews come from people who are mad he's too busy to do the work they want. I remember thinking it such an odd thing to say to a potential client but I'm guessing this blow off appointment happens more frequently than people take the time to review. I fully understand working a long day, bad scheduling things not working out etc, but to just waste someone's full day and not have the decency to return the call and apologize as a courtesy is unacceptable. We spent so much time trying to find the right company to install our post and rail fence. So many companies never showed up for their initial appointments, failed to send their quotes back in a reasonable amount of time and some never even return the quote (which is just plain weird to me, but whatever.) Bruce from Done Right was consistent from the beginning. He showed up when promised, over delivered during the construction and the finished product is absolutely beautiful. He was not the cheapest option but after weighing our options, checking the ever-dependable Yelp and BBB reviews we decided to go with Done Right and we are happy we did.
