Horrible at every turn. Was told I had bone loss in my gums and that I was in danger of losing my teeth. I was also told that I needed a deep clean as my gums were so bad. They called out the size of the pockets as a bunch of 4s and 5s and tried to charge me hundreds of dollars for a deep clean. When I insisted on doing the regular clean that was supposed to be covered by insurance, they somehow managed to charge me $75 with insurance. Six months later, I go to a great, reputable dentist in Brentwood. Turns out my pockets are normal, my gums are fine, and that I never needed a deep clean. On top of that, imagine my surprise when I discover that my insurance covers a routine visit, and mostly covers dental bonding that Donelson Smiles insisted would be an expensive, pricey procedure. This place is a complete scam and should be reported to the Better Business Bureau. read more

BEWARE!! ? Donelson told my wife she needed 2 teeth pulled because of infected roots and then add implants - cost $7-10k. We went back and they confirmed diagnosis. Went to Meharry Dental College with our X-rays in hand from Donelson. Two Dentists (and two students) used those X-rays, then took their own and diagnosed NO ISSUES - shadow on X-rays. Teeth actually better when comparing w 2 years ago X-rays. So is Donelson Dental like a bad car mechanic who diagnosed the worst for $$$??? You decide - but we will never be back to Donelson and will tell our story to anyone who will listen. read more

I do wish I had done more due diligence on Donelson Smiles and read these review prior to my visit. Similar to others, these people run a shady practice. I came in there for routine teeth cleaning and they refused unless I paid $700 out-of-pocket- on top of what they would bill my insurer- for another service that was unnecessary. Marie, Sarah, and Madison were the three individuals that I spoke to while there (apart from the tech who did my X-rays) and all three were more consumed with selling other services or upcharging for things that were totally unnecessary than providing a basic service and doing a routine cleaning. Marie made a completely illogical and idiotic comment as to why they could not do the routine cleaning- it would somehow make what they deemed a gum condition "worse." Very much a fraudulent dental office and I hope to see them on American Greed soon. Please report this practice to the TN Division of Consumer Affairs so other prospective customers don't get scammed by it. read more

Please don't go to this place!!! They are scammers! They pressured me to get a crown and one lady called Mary is their sales person!! They told me to get a crown and I only needed a filler! They put me in debt that I'm still trying to recover from!! Not only on that, they put a cheap crown and misplaced it. Now two months later, I've seen another dentist that told me the crown is of no use and they damaged my root canal! I'm in debt and the crown needs to be removed! Went here and got a cleaning done and was told by Ms. West had to pay 1,669$ with my insurance without it was almost 8K and was told I had multiple cavities and needed a root canal done. I went to another dentist with hundreds of high reviews and was only told the tooth they said I needed a root canal on was just needing a filling and my total went down to 86$ with my insurance. Donelson Smiles told me if I didn't get a root canal soon that I could risk losing the tooth, my new dentist I'm seeing said a root canal was absolutely not needed! Please save your money! read more

My partner and I didn't do our diligence prior to booking with Donelson Smiles, we regret not reading trough the experiences others. We were similarly uncharged for potentially unnecessary work. One doctor performed adequately the other performed poorly and had such terrible bedside manner that we left, in pain, with services un-rendered. I liked this place until my experience yesterday! I came in for an emergency appointment due to recent tooth pain. After an x-ray, the dentist came in and spoke briefly about my options. He then decided to do a cold test. I'm not sure if he didn't explain well or I didn't understand well, but he clearly got upset. I asked for us to pause because I felt myself getting anxious, and I called my husband. I was then apologized to by someone else because he was having a rough day. I was not emailed my treatment plan as stated, and I am still in pain. I will not be returning to the office because of this experience. I would have probably been okay if he would have apologized and we started over, but he sent in someone else to do his dirty work. The friendliness and care starts with Kayla at the front desk and it gets better as you get called by Madonna and get treatment from Dr. Madison that also asks how your day is going. I went to this dentist for the first time today for an exam and cleaning. The door stays locked until your appointment time to reduce person to person contact. Definitely a good start. I was taken in seven minutes before my appointment time and was promptly taken back for x-rays. The tech was efficient and friendly. She took me into the room to await the dentist. Five, then 10, 15, 20... you get the idea. 45 min later the dentist finally shows up with a "Sorry to keep you waiting." Yeah, I'm sorry you kept me waiting too. Two minutes later she is done with the exam and the tech promptly comes in and cleans my teeth. Again efficient and friendly. The only reason I gave three stars here was because of the tech. I will be on the hunt for a new dentist. read more

They told me I had Paradontal Disease and required about $1000 up front.They ground down one of my teeth so much that a crown couldn't be done and left it that way...didn't even cover it...it hurt. They accidentally broke one of my front crowns and it was a fight getting it replaced...which came out wrong color. This is the second time I've visited Donelson Smiles and had such a great experience. From the moment I was greeted by Marie (front desk), she was so accommodating and kind. I didn't feel at all pressured about spending more money which I've felt in the past. I trusted her immediately. I'd never met Dr. Curry before but she was so engaged, kind and I will truly recommend her to everyone I know. The dental hygienist, Donia, was so professional and did everything timely so that I could get back to my day. Overall, it was a perfect visit. Went in for a routine cleaning. The up-selling is out of control. Four different people came in and talked to me about all tobscure extra "services" they recommended, which would've been hundreds of dollars. When I declined, they added it to my bill anyway and tried to make me pay before the cleaning started. Sat in the exam chair for a full hour before my actual cleaning started. Never felt so uncomfortable at a doctors office in my life. It felt like a bunch of pushy salespeople in a used car lot, except they are taking advantage of people's willingness to spend money on their health. Okay let me tell you about this dental office. Staff was friendly, I felt 100% comfortable & I had already been to a couple different dentist offices. So I already know how some dentist can be liars & some of the staff. Long story short after I find out I need a crown, the manager Marie Hoover comes in & I'm assuming she's the one who is supposed to sell me this bs as the closer. The energy shifted in the room so something told me she was being dishonest & I could feel it in my gut that something wasn't right. She tries to sell me on my crown & root canal is $1000 all together. Now I haven't mentioned that my insurance covers 85% of this, which of course they knew I had insurance. As I'm leaving she mentions a payment plan & I'm I looking at her as she tells me this, she was definitely lying about the price. I leave & do some research on my insurance just to make sure I'm right about 85% of my insurance covering the work. I call them & pretty much let them know I'm not coming back & find another dentist that treated me right. Also the work I need ended up being a lot cheaper than what Miss Marie Hoover mentioned . I wouldn't recommend this dentist office too anyone, don't do it. It's some very misleading dentist offices in this area & this was the 2nd or 3rd time I was treated this way. How are you in the business of helping people but you're taking advantage of them at the same time? If you're going to make money that's cool but be fair. read more

I should have read these reviews first. I had my remaining 7 teeth removed and a bottom denture made. I was black and blue down to my collar bone for about 3 weeks. The denture did not fit from day one. I kept going back for adjustments, at one time my front teeth were about a 1/4 inch from coming together. Finally they ground out the entire inside of the denture and put in a temporary soft lining. I never could eat with the denture in even when using denture adhesive. The liner wore out, I called about getting another one, they quoted me $415 or $1200 for a new denture with my insurance. I have had a top denture since 15 yrs old, so I know about dentures, this practice should be out of business. I paid them $3000. for this. Also my husband's "same day crown" took 3 weeks and it put his partial out of line so bad he can't wear it now. STAY AWAY!!!!!!! read more

Like many others I had some trauma from previous dental experiences . This way by far the best experience I have had to date. It was my first time at this clinic and I went from walking in the door being nervous to leaving actually having enjoyed the experience. Everyone was caring and explained everything that was happening . I was seen by doctor Keller (I believe that's her name). She was gentle, honest, and listened to my concerns. SCAM ALERT!!! This office ran unnecessary xrays then billed my insurance company, who refused to pay because they were for people with braces. The "dentist," which i suspect he may not even be, told me i had all kinds of serious problems. Verified by my old dentist i had none of those things. They tried to talk me into $3k of work that i didn't even need. Then they had the nerve to send me a bill for $50, for what i don't know. When i called to complain they quickly canceled it. I am currently without Dental Insurance so I chose this office mainly due to the affordability. Dr. Surati listened to my story, was very understanding and offered me the least expensive option. No one tried to upsell me at all. The staff I dealt with were great. I like this office so much, I plan on sticking with them in the future for my dental care. Worst experience I have ever had in my life. I went in for a simple cleaning and before I got into the the chair I was subjected to a 45 minute X-ray that was painful and totally unnecessary. Once I was sat in the chair I was subjected to several exams by various opinionated techs and or Dentists. I asked when my cleaning would start? I was then met with a receptionist who gave me a laundry list of items that I would need to be done over the next few visits. The girl quoted me over 1500 dollars. I once again asked if I could just please have my covered cleaning done as I had now been in the office for over 2 hours! The girl stated that I would need to make a decision on her quote. I stated that I had made my decision to leave and got out of the chair and escape the high pressure sales pitch. I felt very upset and advised my wife that we would never return to this place. I can only compare my experience to one of buying a new car. Never ever again and I hope that anyone who reads this will stays far away from this sham of a dentist. I went to donelson smiles looking for just a cleaning. Instead I got told I had to have a root canal with a crown on my front tooth. Their endodonist is only there one a month so I had to find someone else to do the root canal. By choosing another endodonist I was able to save a grand total of 1,600 dollars. read more

Professional and friendly from start to finish. Super clean with up to date equipment and people expert in using it. I loved their more open rooms so you never get shut in and wonder if you've been forgotten, not that it would happen; everyone was so friendly i felt they all had an interest in me as a person. Not once did i feel like i was just another task on the to-do list even though i could tell they were all working hard and staying busy. They did a fantastic job coordinating with each other about where i was in my multifaceted treatment (i had several procedures being done). And it was so comforting to be able to hear them talking about my care in the hall and discussing what the next step was in my plan of care (no doors..i love it!!). A month later after getting the prep work for a crown they still had no crown and could not give a date of expected arrival. However, they did manage in that time to take our $750 and bill our insurance - including billing for a "post op visit". Still appealing to have the claim reversed with insurance which causes problems getting the service done at a reputable dentist. Both dentists they had suspiciously vanished and I was told one was "travelling the world". Yeah OK. They also bill for ridiculous items such as "Oral Hygiene Instruction" if they clean your teeth. Will never use them again and would suggest you consider another dentist before using them. Shame cause when I got my first crown they actually did a good job but they cannot be trusted on billing. The detailed invoice I was shown in the office was not the same line items as what was on my EOB. read more

Be wary! In my experience, the staff was very friendly but Dr. Clegg suggested procedures that were expensive and I didn't feel were needed. My instinct was confirmed upon visiting another dentist in Nashville who found no evidence that I needed those treatments. I've learned that it never hurts to get a second opinion if you are feeling uneasy about the doctor's recommendations, and I am certainly glad that I sought another opinion in this case. read more
