Her office staff and she are just nice because that's who they are...not because they are trying up upsell you on some gum treatment of $30 mouth wash. They operate onetime, which makes me feel respected as a customer. I live 45 minutes away from their office, but it is worth it. I come out feeling like I was treated well and not ripped off. If you need a new dentist, Dr. Makeya Jenkins gets my highest recommendation! The office of a dentist is a reflection of the dentist in the office and Mission Dental gets an A+ from me! I usually don't write reviews, but this was one of the worst experiences I've ever had…read more This was my first-ever dental appointment. I grew up with parents who believed, "If it's not broken, don't fix it," so I was never taken to the dentist because I never had a toothache or any obvious dental problems. As a young adult in my early twenties, I decided to take responsibility for my health and be proactive about my dental care. The dentist knew from the beginning that this was my first dental appointment. During my first visit, she told me I needed to schedule another appointment for a cleaning and fillings. When I asked for more information, I was told that the hygienist would explain things during the cleaning. I then scheduled the recommended appointments. The dental assistant was kind and acknowledged that they often see patients who have had dental work before. The hygienist was also patient and explained her part clearly. Unfortunately, I did not receive that same level of communication from the dentist. She did my procedure in a hurry. Before the procedure, I asked questions because I genuinely did not understand what fillings involved. Instead of explaining the procedure, the dentist seemed surprised or irritated by my questions. I was left to figure out what was happening as the procedure went along. For example, I did not know that getting a filling involved removing the decayed portion of the tooth. I also did not know that my teeth and gums would be numbed. These things may seem obvious to a dental professional, but they were not obvious to someone who had never been to a dentist before and has never experienced a toothache or other dental symptoms. At one point, I asked about what fillings are, and the explanation I received was essentially that a white substance would be added. During the procedure, the dentist even mentioned that they usually take pictures when patients ask a lot of questions or are surprised to learn they have cavities. I would have preferred for her to simply explain what was happening to me instead of making me feel as though I should have already known. I also had to stop the procedure briefly to ask how many fillings I was getting. I was given a very brief response, but I still did not understand where the fillings were being placed or what exactly was being done. I believe it is the dentist's responsibility to explain the procedure, including where the fillings are being placed and what the patient should expect before the procedure, rather than leaving the patient to piece everything together. The filling appointment also felt very rushed. Afterward, the dentist asked how my teeth felt but did not wait for me to answer. When I tried to ask a question, she referred me to another staff member and said she needed to go to another room. I was especially concerned because this was my first-ever dental procedure, and the dentist knew that. I needed clear explanations, but instead, I felt rushed and uninformed. I felt like I had to search for information myself rather than being properly educated about my own treatment. The surface of the fillings also feels rough. I've been told that's not normal. This was not addressed because I was not given an opportunity to discuss how my teeth felt afterward. I was scheduled to have three additional filling appointments, but after this experience, I do not feel comfortable returning. I was so sad about the experience that I cried afterward. I understand that some of these procedures may be routine for dental professionals, but they were completely new to me. Patients who are having their first dental procedure deserve to know what to expect. All patients deserve to know what to expect. And at the very least, a few minutes afterward to hear them and to make sure they got the right results. The surface of my fillings feels rough. I just pray my teeth would be ok.

Every step of the process was seamless and well managed. His team was incredibly nice, efficient, and knowledgeable - they even offered to pick me up from the airport when I came for my first appointment and gave me restaurant/hotel recommendations (I flew into Nashville for his services)! He was able to conduct my consult virtually and made me feel at ease in every part of the process. I came to him because I had a huge insecurity about my two front teeth which had old veneers that were too large and discolored compared to the rest of my surrounding teeth in different lighting. He presented me with several different use cases and ideas for enhancing my smile to look more natural and balanced. I couldn't be more pleased with the results!

I did a lot of research on different practices to make sure my investment was going to someone I knew would prioritize my needs. I wanted a bigger brighter smile that naturally fit my face and I didn't want my teeth to look completely fake. Dr. Nabors and his team absolutely exceeded my expectations. Dr. Nabors is innovative and extremely detail oriented. The best part about him, is he is going to listen and make sure you have the opportunity to share your voice. He will make sure you are comfortable throughout every step of the process. I had ample time to thoroughly review every tooth before, during, and after my veneers. I was so pleasantly surprised with how seamless the entire process was and how much time Dr. Nabors spent to make sure he achieved the results I wanted. Listen, if you want to cut corners - don't go to Beam Smile. If you want to work with a practice that is accommodating, responsive and thorough then look no further. I am so unbelievably happy with the choice I made, and cannot speak highly enough about this practice of Dr. Nabors!!!!
