Has a great lunch special! 3 rolls for $11.95. We were seated quickly. The server was nice. It took a while to get the rolls but we had 5 people with us. The sushi was tasty it. I've always been fairly pleased with the food. Been here probably 6 times now. Service is always just horrible. The people are nice but they're always understaffed which leads to lots and lots of waiting. One server here today with a packed house. I loved this place! I tried the Philadelphia the basic Hawaii, the volcano and the incredible. I went there for a week straight with my husband but realized I'm not rich haha. The prices were normal for a sushi bar. The only downside was the wait but you should expect that with and sushi bar because they are made fresh and as you order. The servers were way nice! I have gone to Dongs sushi multiple times now. They have great service and our waitress has been very friendly each time and always checks up on us to make sure things are good. The sushi is pretty good too. The only reason I am not giving it five stars is because as good as the food is I don't think it quite meets a five star standard. With all due respect, I paid $30 for 2 rolls and rice and I've had better sushi at the grocery store. We had to ask for ginger and wasabi - both the cheap grocery store versions. This sushi place is great! They have really good sushi for a great price. This stuff is far better than anything you will ever buy at a cafeteria or grocery store, but for the same price or less. I haven't been to Pineapple Grill, so I can't compare the two, but my wife and I come here all the time. Be warned though, sometimes they are VERY busy... Really good the first two times I went right after they opened--Fresh, clean, good quality. Next four times i visited over the last year it got worse by the visit. Fish quality went noticeably downhill and the rolls sloppier and sloppier. Hopefully they can turn this around because, dammit, Rexburg needs a decent sushi place. read more

We showed up and the server was nice and got us a seat for my 11 month old son. We asked for shrimp tempura and it came out fast. But parts of it were cold and we weren't sure if it was fully cooked or not.... I decided to go with the beef yakisoba. There was a picture and it looked good. So I got it. When it showed up much much later. Which is weird since we were the only ones there on a Monday at 6pm besides the two dudes at the sushi bar. They set it down and my wife's had more than mine. And mine was very minimal. Like half as much as you think there would be. Which is weird since we ordered the exact same thing. Then I asked about the soup and salad that it came with. The server informed me it came with the teriyaki beef and rice. Not the beef yakisoba..... if it did it would make a lot more sense to pay 13$ for the small plate of food. But it didn't. I felt bad for the server since she was good to us and probably a student working on spring break. So I still gave a good tip. The yakisoba was decent. I am from Oregon and I have tried several sushi bars/restaurants​ but this place was the worst I have​ ever been to. Frist off, I had to seat myself. When my group tried to talk to the lady at the desk, she was on the phone and being very rude to everyone. Second, the food was very bland. We got the Lion Kind platter, California​ and Crunchy Roll platter along with the beef teriyaki. The teriyaki​ was pretty good, but that'​s also kinda hard to mess up! Overall, the servers are always nice, but the sushi is just okay and the location is NOT big enough to support the demand as basically the only actual sushi place in Rexburg. Whenever we come here, we make sure not to come at a busy time for a couple of reasons. First, they can't give you a wait time...they just tell you it's whenever tables open up because there's only like 12 tables there and they seat parties of 2 at tables for 4 when they can easily break the tables up to accommodate more couples... Second, it takes forever to get your food because they only have 2 sushi chefs from what I have seen. My husband and I alone order like 5 rolls so it makes sense why when you only have 2 chefs to make the sushi, it takes a really long time to get the food out to the customers after they've ordered it. The sushi really is not anything amazing and for some reason all of the rolls come with spicy mayo on top and I always forget to ask for mine to come without it and have to scrape it off we've kind of given up on this place and don't want to revisit it until they've gotten a new location and hire more people to fit the demand. read more

Worst service I have ever experienced. It was lunch on a Monday and there were a total of 5 customers who all had been helped when I walked in. I was greeted quite quickly by the hostess and shown to my seat. I was told "So and So" would be my waitress. I waited a good 10 minutes and was about to head over to Wingers instead for their all you can eat wings, when finally the hostess, not the server, came over and apologized for the server not coming over. Apparently the hostess had asked several times in that ten minutes for the server to come and talk to me. Well I stayed... bad choice... I got 2 sushi rolls, waited, and started to eat. There was absolutely no flavor. All I could taste was wet rice and a hint of something else. I had to pile on the wasabi, soy sauce and gin sang in order to feel like I was having something other than wet rice. Upon completing my meal the server had still never stopped by. She had taken several other peoples orders as they had come in and had brought them food but seemed to be completely ignoring me. I waited for an additional 5 minutes and then stood up to find someone to get me my check. For the bad service and the price I think I will make wet rice at home next time. (Brolums, BYU-I's Cross Roads, and Winco all have cheaper better sushi) read more

If you have ever had real and true sushi do not go here. If you have never had sushi and want to "try something new" thinking it is real sushi then by all means go ahead.
