I was recommended Grillstock by our local BBQ expert, Ahmed Kage (if you haven't come across Rib Nights and you're a fan of meat, you HAVE to check it out). He had bigged up the restaurant as one of the best places to get BBQ in the UK - so we knew we had to make a date to go and see for ourselves. It was just lucky that we ended up passing through Brizzle on our way to Cornwall for our Honeymoon! We had read on the website that you can't book - but it was open from 11:30am in the week. We rocked up and arrived almost bang on opening time to grab some early lunch on our travels. We were greeted warmly and seated straight away. As it was early on a Monday, we didn't have any problems getting a seat... But I imagine on a Thursday/Friday/Saturday evening - it would be wise to get there near opening to avoid a lengthy wait for a table. After a quick look at the menu we quickly decided to go for the sharing platter. For £30 it had nearly every meat on the menu on it and looked like the right choice to try everything. I can confirm it certainly WAS the right choice! With everything from a full rack of ribs to chicken wings and pulled pork and beans, it was huge! You could sensibly feed three with the amount of meat, 'slaw and fries on offer, but we did manage most of it (with only half of ribs taken away in their awesome packaging for later devouring). All of the meat was totally fantastic. Tender, deliciously seasoned and cooked to perfection - it was some of the best BBQ I've ever had. Our meal (with a couple of fizzy drinks) came to under £40 with some food to takeaway. We didn't eat for nearly 24 hours afterwards either. If perfectly cooked meat at a reasonable price floats your boat - I recommend a trip to Grillstock!

The restaurant is made up of one table in the middle and a bar at the end, with open kitchen behind. Drinks wise they serve Orchard Pig cider, obviously, as it's the same guy owns Orchard Pig and Grillstock (what a legend) and a few other soft drinks. The food comes out on metal trays with nice branded paper underneath. The burger was delicious. Not the best in Bristol, but a very decent burger all the same. Our friends had the hot dogs and the brisket; the sauce around their mouths and instant silence said it all! All in all a decent place, Grillstock. There is A LOT of competition in Bristol for BBQ, Grill, Pulled Pork style dining - but these guys are the originators!

It's a good place to grab a cheap lunch especially if heading for a Cardiff City match at the stadium next door. A baked potato and filling will set you back only £2- amazing! Don't touch the coffee though; it's really not the best. It can sometimes be really hard to get a seat, although it is possible to eat standing up (if that's your thing).

The Costco website explains more about how to become a member, and you don't necessarily have to be a business owner either. Costco is a great place to shop, if you have a family or any other need to buy in bulk. They don't sell cheap merchandise, but they do sell very good value products. I use it to stock up on tea bags, washing powder, loo rolls and other items that we always seem to run out of quickly. Everything is good quality and if you go on a good day, you can find really amazing bargains. I found beautiful cutlery sets with 8 place settings, (heavier than a set I got in House of Fraser for triple the price!) for £20, the fluffiest bath towels we've ever had, plus loads of other stuff too boring to mention. They also sell the best sirloin steak we've ever tasted (even in expensive restaurants), whilst not cheap it is competitively priced, British meat and cut very thickly, just how it should be. I cooked a birthday meal for my Dad and he said the same and he's probably eaten a fair few in his time (he is 73). Costco sell everything from electrical goods (TV's, music, games etc) to housewares, food and drink, tools, furniture, clothing and gifts. Many items are American style (oversized) and mostly are known brands. If you see the Kirkland brand in there, it is their own brand (usually made by a well known manufacturer, for example Kirkland coffee is Starbucks) and of high quality. Their food selection is second to none for parties, since they offer both ready prepared food e.g. massive pizzas for around £7 (but they are enormous) and even big platters of buffet food like sandwiches. They also do birthday cakes very cheaply, e.g. personalised iced cakes for around £10. I haven't tried these are we don't really like shop bought cake, but they do look good, if you're stuck for a birthday gift idea. You need to travel to Costco by car, since it's on a new retail park and you're sure to buy more stuff than you could carry on public transport. On the same estate there are other new stores nearby including Next Home, JJB (with an awesome new gym, that's another story) and Hobbycraft. There are coming soon signs for Gregs, Subway and others, although if you get peckish and you're in Costco you'd be better off buying something from their café, as it is very cheap and good quality, e.g. filled baked potato £1.25 or a massive hot dog with re-fillable drink £1.60. Costco opened in November and I've been there weekly ever since! It is worth going often if you are an ardent money saver or have a large family since the prices seem to change often and they have bargains but it isn't always obvious if something is on special offer. You need to take your debit card or cash as they don't accept credit cards, and be prepared to buy in bulk if you're after stock-up items for the house, but other than that I'd say that it has something for everyone and is really worth a visit if you've got a few hours to spare.

My boss offered to pay which subsequently encouraged a Five Guys free-for-all. In total 15 Burgers and 1 Hot Dog was ordered. The latter being mine. The Bacon Cheese Hot Dog with Jalapeños. Sliced down the middle, slightly crispy and ridiculously delicious. My only regret is ordering this while in work. I've had to undo the top button of my trousers and am currently attempting to resist the temptation of having a teeny tiny nap behind my computer screen. *pause for huge yawn* Food baby aside the online ordering system is super easy and allows you to arrange a pickup time that is convenient for you. Here, have some random Five Guy Facts before you scroll on... There are over 250,000 possible ways to order a Burger at Five Guys. They only use fresh roll stamped prime beef. There are no freezers in Five Guys locations, just coolers. Nothing is ever frozen. They only use Peanut Oil.

There are a good couple of sit-in restaurants that have popped up around town that fit that description, but to find one that will deliver is rare. I ordered through JustEat and what I've seen from further reading suggests their menu is bigger than what you see on there, but that wasn't a major hang-up. The quality of the food cannot be disputed - I ordered the aged Welsh beef burger, and it was exactly what I wanted: the quality of the meat was good, the size of the burger was great and the gherkins were thick. I'd argue that they have the best seasoning on their chips, better than anything I've had from any other chip-selling establishment ever (yes, that's right, the big "e"). There was only one problem really, and that was the time it took for the food to be delivered. I live in the Bay, so it should only ever really take 40-50 mins for food from Crwys Rd & the area to get to where I am. Unfortunately it took closer to 1 hr 40 mins. In fairness, a lady named Sophie did call to tell me that they had messed up and there was only half a portion of whitebait left (yes, whitebait - amazing) but food would be with me soon as it was ready to go. That was about an hour after I had ordered, so around the approx. delivery time. The food, which Sophie had so convincingly told me was ready (and I believed her, she sounded genuine...), didn't show for a further 30-40 mins. Was it cold? No, only the complimentary chips had started to lose some warmth, but the big hitters of my order were still hot enough for my taste. A nice touch was the inclusion of two, old-style Coca Cola bottles. They had coke in them, it wasn't just for decoration, but I liked that. Good job. Overall, I would recommend this place to others but be prepared to wait for your food. A bit of further reading showed that I wasn't the first to have experienced this with CF24 Project, but do not let that put you off - the quality is worth the wait, you might just need to get yourself a snack after you've ordered cause you're probably going to be waiting for upwards of an hour.

The regular is pretty darn large, so large I thought it was the foot long so I was happy. I got it with grilled onions and cheese. I took my first bite and realized, it is not spicy, it is just nice and hot, right off the grill! Whoops! My mistake, should have known! Even though the sausage wasn't spicy, it was as advertised, nice and hot. The sausage was very good and was loaded with onions and a slice of cheese on a tasty bun. This food stand is at the entrance to the Cardiff Market that's at St. Mary's Street, so not the most popular end, I would venture. I find it's a good place to grab a snack before browsing one of my favourite places in the city - Cardiff Market.
