I've used Don's in the past so after my garage door cable snapped last night, I knew exactly who to call without even considering shopping around. Everyone with this company is always so incredibly kind, from the woman on the phone who scheduled me, to the men that have come out to my home for repairs and tune-ups. My window was 8-10am and just before 8:00am, I got a text with a photo and an "about me" section so I could see who was coming to my home. Such a nice touch! Their senior technician, Josh, arrived a few minutes after 8:00am, looking just like his photo, with another young man who was shadowing him. I showed Josh what I thought happened, he was very reassuring that this is common (which was such a relief to hear), and within a few minutes of looking it over, he calmly explained what my garage would need and why. Despite my door being crooked and assuming there would need to be a lot replaced, most of it was repairable. Only the cables and a couple of brackets needed replaced. The price was phenomenal, lower than I was anxiously googling last night, so I was even more relieved! The work was done in a reasonable amount of time, the guys made me feel safe and comfortable, they showed me the utmost respect, and suggestions for future items to consider were explained without being pushy. My elderly neighbor, who needs a new garage door, saw their van and came outside to ask them to chat with him next. I know they probably don't always have time in their busy schedule for a quote but they made time for him, which was very sweet. I called Hamilton Garage doors in Westfield for repairing my Garage door. Note- this is the same as Don's Garage, which I did not realize till later when the technician called. They were very polite over the phone and requested follow-up reviews post call. Lucas Mill was the technician allotted for the work. He called me before he headed here, but I already had a another person lined up before he could get here. Out of curiosity, I asked him the price for getting the garage door down( mine wouldn't come down) and replacing it if needed. Both prices that he quoted over the phone were double of what I am currently paying. So yes... very polite in interactions- but expensive for services. So shop around before proceeding... read more

Repairman came in a timely manner and was able to fix the problem, however it ended up being a very expensive fix. Additionally, the mechanic was new to the position and struggled to use the company's online payment system. This caused about an hour delay to him being able to perform the service. read more

In or around August 2025, I contacted Don's Garage Doors to service my garage doors. The technician, Brian Rempel, arrived as scheduled and was courteous. At the time of service, one garage door required maintenance and the second door was completely inoperable. The technician serviced only one door and advised that the spring on that door needed to be replaced, stating it was undersized. Relying on this professional representation, I agreed to the replacement. I was charged in excess of $600 for the spring replacement and servicing of that single door and also a $150 for an annual service plan. I also requested an estimate to replace the garage door tracks for both doors and was quoted $2,500 per door. I later obtained a comparable quote through a Costco-affiliated provider for the same work on both doors for a total of $1,500. Based on this information, I believe I was significantly overcharged. As a senior customer, this raises serious concerns regarding deceptive business practices and potential exploitation. Additionally, the original spring that was removed appeared nearly new and was retained by the technician, preventing independent verification of whether replacement was necessary. I also felt pressured into purchasing a service plan that I later determined was unnecessary. Taken together, these circumstances support a reasonable belief that deceptive practices and theft occurred. This experience reflects a lack of transparency and ethical standards. As I am unable to pursue legal action at this time, I intend to make my experience known by sharing this complaint publicly through all available social media and consumer review platforms read more

My experience with Don's was very mediocre. I was scheduled for a tune up service. At first, our technician seemed very kind and was very communicative, letting me know that he was on his way. However, after he started doing the tune up, he tried to tell me that his recommendation was that I spent $2k on a new machine to help the garage door work. Honestly, it just felt somewhat slimy and like they were just trying to get me to buy something because our garage door is still pretty new. In addition, I used to be able to open my garage door via an app on my phone, but have not been able to do so since he did the tune up. Overall, I will probably be using another garage door servicer in the future, which is very disappointing, because I would really like to support a local business. read more

Stephen Roberts was prompt, professional and honest. We were quoted $450 for a coil and chain adjustment, by another company. They had been so late that day we didn't have time for the repair. We called Don's and Stephen came out. On time. Polite. And realize that our sensors had become too loose to work. Tightened to bolts and had it fixed in 5 minutes. For free. When I was fully expecting a $450 repair. You don't find many people like that anymore. read more

We purchased a garage door and a Linear garage door opener from Hamilton Garage Doors in 2016, and they replaced the springs in 2021. Since we had dealt with Hamilton previously (and I knew that Don's Garage Doors had purchased them), I called Don's on 7/28/25 since my garage door opener had developed a noise when the door was going down. Samuel Logan came to the house on 7/29/25. He admitted that he wasn't familiar with Linear, so he called the office. After a lengthy conversation, Sam told me that he needed to do a diagnostic check on the door, at a cost of $170. I hesitated but begrudgingly agreed. He took the unit apart but saw nothing. However, he did ask at the outset if the center track had been greased when the unit was installed, and I said I didn't know. Since it obviously had not been done then, he gave it a healthy shot of grease. (I've done semi-annual maintenance on my garage door for many years, but I was never told to do that.) However, the noise prevailed, so he called the office again. After another lengthy call (during which Sam sent several pictures and videos), the office said they were confident that the bearings were going out, to which I said that the noise appeared to be coming from the center track, not the unit itself. Sam told me that I needed a whole new unit, at a cost of about $1,400; in addition, since Don's had not installed the springs, I was told I would need a new set of springs as well since they couldn't touch them due to safety (and legal) reasons, at a cost of about $1,100. That was perplexing since we bought them from the predecessor company! We said we would need a second opinion before proceeding further. Guess what...later that same evening, I put the door down multiple times, and there was NO NOISE at all. Apparently, the grease finally kicked in, and THAT'S ALL THAT I NEEDED. Sorry, but we're never going to call Don's again (and I'm going to tell my neighbors), mainly because we felt they gave us a line of BS and tried to oversell us to the max. FINAL THOUGHTS: 1. While I called for service because I was worried about the noise, their proposal would have been the extreme method for eliminating it! 2. Sam evidently used some extra special grease; however, too bad it cost me $170! 3. On more than one occasion, Sam called me "boss man", which was annoying; "Tom" would have sufficed. read more

I called Don's based on a flyer offering a $29 inspection special, wanting a simple inspection on our current door to assess condition and whether it was time to replace the overall door. Tech immediately started pushing for a credit/financing check, before even looking at the garage door. He spent almost 2 hours pushing various temporary fixes, quick and easy repairs, even after repeatedly telling them that we were considering a door/track replacement, making temporary fixes a moot point (the door is still working). The final price quoted (almost $9k) was almost 3 times that of a local named competitor, and the quote shared via email was unclear as to how that price had been arrived at (a $400 "shop service fee" to cover nuts and bolts seems wildly excessive). After stating that I wanted to consider the quote and take a day or two to decide, the tech continued to push replacement options for various parts of the door. Among these, the tech said that our opener was old (6 years, so not old) and worn down (also not correct), and wanted to replace it at 3-4 times the cost of the unit (we looked up the exact model). At the end of the visit, the tech tried to upcharge the visit again with an additional service fee, even though the customer service line had told us it would be $29. The final "inspection", in which the tech did not even fully complete what was listed on the flyer, was not worth the 2 hour "what can we get you to buy" bombardment. I would not recommend them to anyone. The follow up text from Don's 2 business days later offering a lower quote was not even entertained. If you want someone's business, consider offering a reasonable quote in the beginning without driving up costs to an absurd level. Absolutely will not use businesses who operate in this way. We called another company the day after the "inspection". They showed up and and within 30 minutes gave us a realistic quote based on what was actually needed, without the excessive sales pitches. We are going with the competitor - $3k, with nicer components and better door insulation. read more

Made an appointment for arrival between 8 and 10 am., which was confirmed via both text and email. No one showed up. Called at 10:30am to follow up. After 10 minutes on hold was told the appointment had been moved to between 10 and 1 pm. No notification was given. I had to cancel since I had other obligations later. Maybe their service is fine, but they may not show up. read more

Hamilton Garage Doors has come in clutch for us over and over again. Our garage door seemed to be a home project from the previous home owner, so we had several issues wrong including a short pulley on a long track, bad sensors, the door not going up or down. With each new issue that pops up, they come to our house with 1-2 business days which is awesome. Matt is incredibly nice & funny when he answers the phone. Mike has come to fix our garage door a lot & is always incredibly nice & beyond fair in his pricing. They're very understanding about collecting payment, since we are usually at work when they are able to come to our home. I never worry about being away from the house when they come to do their job. Lucas Mills was out on July 10 to check our not yet 5 year old Amarr Heritage door sold to us by Hamilton Garage doors in August of 2018. We were having difficulty disconnecting the door and lifting manually in the event of power failure. Lucas checked out the door and told us he "had some bad news". We needed new coils and quoted a price that was more than the door itself in 2018. I said I would think about it. He than offered to see about contacting his supervisor and seeing if some adjustment of the coils and lubrication might work at least temporarily. He subsequently completed that work and it seems good. Lucas mentioned he had been with the company for about 4 months. You might want to instruct your new employees not to try and "over sell" someone who has been in the house since 1984 and knows that coils need replacement when they break or just cannot be adjusted due to age. I am a bit of a DIY guy. So I had contacted several garage door suppliers to try and get a door. They all told me that it would be 8-12 weeks for me to get a door. I called Hamilton Garage Doors, and they had a technician out in a couple of days to help me color match and give me a quote. They had the door installed inside of a week. On top of that, it was a higher quality insulated door for a lower price than what I was going to get if I did it myself, and they replaced the track, springs and trim. Initially called and left a message on their voicemail. They promptly called back within a couple of hours. I explained the issue I was experiencing. They were able to send someone out the next day which worked perfectly for me. They initially gave me a 4 hour window for the afternoon...noon to 4pm. I asked if we could move it to 2-4pm and they said it would be no problem. At 2:21pm I received a text saying they were on their way, ETA, and a link to map their location and follow their route. This was very convenient. They arrived at the given time and quickly accessed the door. While the garage door never messed up on them, they were able to pinpoint the problem and correct it. I haven't experienced any issues since their visit. The visit was slightly more costly than I expected, but I have no idea the going rate for repairs or to adjust the photo eye. The communication was excellent and service was professional. I'd call them again if/when another problem arises. read more

We wanted to put in new insulated garage doors, for our two two-car garages. We contact three highly rated companies, and from the start Mike was fantastic! He read my email with what I was after, and came out and quickly presented us with estimates based on some options I had mentioned. He worked hard to save us money, and never tried to sell us more than what we needed. Since his pricing was so good, we added options and the pricing was very competitive. Mike answered all questions, guided us with the pros/cons of different garage doors and options. It was a very easy process, so we placed the order knowing that it would be 3 weeks before installation. Mike contacted us to indicate there was stock in place for our job, and 3-weeks became 3-days. Just an added bonus! The team arrived exactly at the stated time, installed, adjusted the new doors, and hauled away our old ones. They look fantastic! Matt provided strong customer service and made me feel like he would take care of me but the work was a little disappointing. The installers left a mess of wire clippings on the garage floor which I would not have expected. The way they left the spliced wires was sloppy and required me to make some adjustments. I had requested two adjustments be made during their visit and only one was completed. Really great troubleshooting and explanation provided to me of what was going on. This is the first time we have used Hamilton Garage Doors. Their price for springs was half what we've paid in the past. Repair man discovered that our circuit panel (most expensive piece of the entire unit) was actually only 2 years old and in good shape. He recommended that we try to repair VS replace this unit if we have issues moving forward. Unless the motor totally goes out which is unlikely. Spring has been tightened and garage door serviced.
