I had two springs replaced on my garage door today after calling them yesterday. They say they give same day service but it was not an option . The gentleman doing the work was great ! Eric was personable and his trainee who did the repair was as well, but quiet. The repairs were completed in less than an hour and the cost was $600 from my online research which I believe was excessive but not the fault of the techs . They are not only overpriced, but not responsible for their service. We recently had a broken spring on our garage door, we called them emergently. We expected a decent service, as their review on google is outstanding. The person who came out to do the service was on time and very nice. However, they estimated ridiculous price, based on our research, it was almost 2 times expensive than what I expected. I was be honest with him about the price I got from the research, and he did everything to get me a discount, which I appreciate. I still eneded up paying way more than I should pay I believe, but I considered it as the emergent service since they came out right next day. So I moved on. Since the day they fixed it, my garage door make weird scratch sound, which was getting worse as day went by. We contacted them again maybe a month after, they came out and do something on the screws and charged us $88. I was trying to explain that the sound started right after the new installation, but they did not want to listen and said they "have to" charge me. They were not able to come the same day to get the garage door down, so I got another garage company service to do the job. I got a quote from that company for the Garage door replacement. Shaun from Precision Garage Door came the following day to give a quote and it was very reasonable. Shaun was communicative via text on updates of when the door would be available and when the work could be done. Carter and team got the garage door replaced within the week. They were running late on the day of replacement and apologized for it when they arrived. Like a previous reviewer, they also asked me "How much do you want to spend?" when I complained about how expensive the estimate was. Our eight-year-old garage door opener would not seal and sounded like it was falling apart every time we used it. Cold weather made the situation worse. I called Precision Garage Door Service (PGDS), and a technician came out the day after Thanksgiving. The original door was installed with a bent rod that caused the door to wobble. Two important braces required for our insulated door were omitted by the original installer. The PDGS technician showed me the problems and suggested a couple of options. Garages. Ugh. Gotta love em when they are professionally installed AND continue to work like they're pose to, eh? Push a button- ta da a big door lifts & you do what is necessary in the garage?!? Well, that wasn't the case with us, until Precision Garage Door. Replacing or revitalizing a home garage apparatus is sorta like trying to figure out if you need a new smartphone with the extras. Or will your current one suffice to your wants. Turns out it was a little bit of both to us on the garage door ;). Sure, our spring looked fine to us, as it was in tact. Our garage door didn't automatically open in the traditional sense via remotely. We had to go inside, manually unlock it, go back outside to bend over to lift it up, & pray that it remained on both tracks as it was lifted. Most days a power nap was considered. Turns out the previous installation wasn't what most would suggest, professionally installed. We might've used it a handful of times. Using Yelp, we were able to obtain three friendly businesses that were each vigilant in what we needed. We placed our need in a secure post to each vendor in what we had via Yelp. Each responded promptly. Precision Garage Door topped our list. Pricing amounts initially helped with all three companies. Tho the final outcome was more than our expectations (spring replacement), we are pleased in the result. Push a remote & almost like magic, our garage door opens & closes without a funky sound from it as it now properly works! WHOOP WHOOP! I do love love love that part, a lot. Now, we will still consider doing power naps but our bodies won't feel like it is a must. At least not bc of a messed up garage door. YIPPEE! We were impressed that this company afforded a heads up before it was our designated time & who was coming. Removes the guess work in a productive manner IMO. Sure, it would've been sooooo lovely had we possess a tree full of real money for sure. We felt like this company didn't attempt to strong arm us into any non essential garagey extras. We remained close to our budget. All in all, we still appreciate the candor of each garage door expert we spoked to IRL. Each garage door place had the Hoosier hospitality we extend to another. Well guess what, 1996 called and wanted their door opener back. It was a good run. Vladimir, the technician, explained the problem and the solution. I do appreciate when someone is respectful in giving an explanation. This was the second failure of the door in cold weather. It had to be replaced. What a difference between a 1996 opener and 2023. Didn't think getting a spring repaired was going to be like buying a new car, but it was. The repair person was prompt and on-time. He evaluated our situation and diagnosed the problem (as I had already done) as a broken spring on our Wayne Dalton TorqueMaster counterbalance. I asked him for a rough range to repair and was told $600-$1200 for either a single or double spring conversion. Problem was that I had already done my homework and knew that the repair could be done DIY for about $120 in parts. I was hoping it was in the reasonable range, including labor because I'm busy and didn't really want to hassle with it. I thanked him for his time and said that the range quoted was too much and offered to pay whatever I needed for the service call. He then made some statements that the Wayne Dalton TorqueMaster could not be repaired, to which I knew was not the case as per the service manual and TONS of Youtube videos showing you how to exactly do that. I pressed back and he admitted he didn't know about these springs. He then proceeded to ask, "how much did you want to spend?". My wife and I were taken aback by this as it sounded like a car dealership. The price should be the price and I would have expected to receive the best price they could offer without these games. I would not give him a number and said if he wanted to reconsider his quote to be best and final, I would consider it. He, of course, had to call his manager. After 10 minutes, miracle of miracles, the price had dropped to $380. Apparently, we had gotten a $700 discount. Although that was still excessive, it was within my reasonable range to have the problem solved, so we proceeded. Work was done promptly and seems to be holding up. All in all, we felt like we were being high-balled and trying to be taken for as much as we possibly could. It was five-star work. Minus three stars for the used car salesmen shenanigans. Do your homework because sly companies like this hate educated customers. As a post-script, a week after we had the spring replaced, I was leafing through one of those homeowner coupon flyers you get in the mail, and lo and behold, Precision had a "coupon" for $225 single spring replacement. read more

Here's the email I sent to this greedy company: We had one of your service techs come out this morning around 8:55 AM. When I spoke with the scheduler this past weekend, I was told that there was no service charge but that we would receive an estimate once the tech could come and look things over. Instead we were charged a service fee of $175.00. Wow! Now, I did fully expect to hear that, in fact, there would be some kind of service charge just for coming out, but the tech looked at the garage door for less than 5 minutes, could tell there was nothing wrong with it, and then he looked at the motor and, within just another few minutes, told me that the unit was 21 years old and had a belt that had disintegrated (even though the motor was still trying to move the door when activated). Then I was told that a new motor is needed and that a new one installed would cost upwards of $1400 or $1700 (depending on the model) even though we already have a functional track, primary belt, and hardware that has nothing wrong with them. When I told the tech my wife and I are going to hold-off, he couldn't help but try to shame me a little bit by saying, "Well, I guess you'll be lifting the door by hand, then." Then he tried to tell me that the plastic wheels inside the roller-tracks on each side are in really bad shape simply because pulling the door back down took a little bit more effort than he'd like to exert. No, they're not in really bad shape. They work, and the door is not brand new, so, no problem there, sorry. Sorry, no commission for you today, at least not from me. Then I went to work and a coworker told me that Home Depot installed a new garage door opener for them last year for under $500. With Precision, no option was given for installing just a new LiftMaster motor (which is our current brand and which, in reality, is all we really need), but instead I was given these inflated prices for all new hardware and wiring (in addition to a new motor) because, well, "That's just what we do." I told them I will be putting a negative review on Yelp warning people to stay away from their company which clearly is out to milk every penny they can get from people whether they need a whole new system or not. read more

Short review: Call anyone else other than these guys. Maybe call them if everyone else in city doesn't answer phone and spouse threatening divorce if its not fixed "Now" kinda pricing is ok. Detailed review: I generally never do reviews unless it's absolutely warranted. In this case I think it is. The tech, not mentioning names, was fast and efficient, but a little more on that in a minute. I had already pulled everything off so it was ready to swap springs, reassemble and adjust. Instead of ordering parts I thought I'll call and see what these guys will do it for. Called office same day on Saturday, told manufacturer "Torquemaster" (an inner tube spring design), what size door, weight etc, I have the part info from label etc, and ballpark how much would it cost? About $275+ tax no service fee. We can be out Sunday 8-9. Great! Tech shows up walks in garage sees it all pulled down, pauses a minute and gives an odd look. We don't repair these and a these are junk spiel. Given they don't repair Torquemaster, we're on-sight negotiating. Scribbles three price options on yellow pad ranging from over $500-1000 plus. I outright say no I'm not paying that kind of money for springs, I'll order and do myself. Before leaving tech says I don't want to leave you without a working door. Presumably calls office and says no one answered and returns to say will do for the "ballpark" estimate given over phone. Ok. Seems reasonable. One spring or two he asks? I kind of already knew two is the correct answer for a two car door and tech already mentioned this moments ago. Hmmmm, Ok. Tech grabs parts and does his thing fast and efficient, 20 minutes maybe. Wasn't timing it. So how much do you want to pay? He does offer the initial estimate, but me being me I say whatever is fair without being bent over a barrel. He discounts this this and this and this on iPad and tada $468. I'm guessing that was the $1000+ option and being a Sunday fix, and maybe person on phone didn't account for pipe and brackets and cable pulleys I'm ok with it, sort of, kind of??? I joked at one point and said well owner has to afford his boat. Response: Two boats! I know what was put up is maybe $150 +\- tops from a box store, retail pricing. Based on parts used and pricing from Granger, Lowes, other garage part suppliers, markup is roughly 5x over retail on parts. I'm a reasonable person. I pay, he packs up and leaves. Another coffee and quick inspection, cables are rubbing tracks. I quickly call his cell and he immediately returns to adjust, another 10 minutes maybe. Hands me a QR code and "Only leave a review if it's 5 star". Another quick inspection later, a lag screw was left nearly completely out on left side track. I would be 4 star from phone to job completion even with these couple of minor oversights but standard cost/value in my opinion is unconscionable as I'm sure they do dozens of these residential doors per week and know exactly whats appropriate and whats involved. So we just had Mike from Precision Overhead Door Service replace our garage door opener and door springs. Mike is one of those technicians that you pray to get at your house. He was personable, knowledgeable and he didn't seem rushed. He made sure to take his time to check everything over, explain what he needed to do, go over the fact that our garage requires a shorter opener track, much to my dismay, but he was able to install what may be the quietest opener in existence! He also installed new springs as ours were on the tail end of their life span. I can't recommend Mike enough, I honestly wish all technicians had his demeanor and professionalism. I engaged Precision to replace two (2) broken hinges that were keeping my garage door from closing completely. I was made aware in advance that it would entail an $88.00 service call, and I was surprised and pleased when my service technician, "RJ," arrived on scene far sooner than expected. He was very courteous and after examining the door and its components, likewise concurred the broken hinges were the sole cause of the problem. After he replaced both hinges, realigned the door track and lubricated all the components, the door functioned properly and much more quietly. I was quite satisfied with the work that was performed and the end result. My only disappointment was in the cost of the replacement parts. Wow, what a waste of time! I sent them an email, over the weekend about two two-car garage doors. I proved the measurements (7x14), my name, styles we were interested in, etc. I did get a call back on the following Monday, and they left a message. I called right back and introduced myself and spoke to Amanda (after getting a message saying calls are recorded, mind you!!). I provided her with the same information from my email, and she asked if I was "Bret", and I said no, my name is still Jeff, I bought the house from Bret. She then said she would note this in the system and set an appointment for 3:30-5pm on Tuesday. All good, right? No, non, nein! I went home and waited...and waited...and waited.... They did not show up. I call on Wednesday, and asked what had occurred. Well, my name was Bret again, and they had no record of the appointment They guy I spoke to seemed he could care less, and to be fair, it sounded like a call center. They brag of high ratings on their website...which are much lower on third party sites. Update~I did get a call from an operations manager who apologized and sent someone straight out in order to get a quote. I did not go home for this, but had my wife meet them. So, they did try to make up for it. Their quote was competitive, and they did follow up again to see if their was any more they could do, which was appreciated. Yesterday, the chain came off my garage door. I got home, watched some YouTube videos and managed to get it back on but something was off. I tried to mess with it today and the chain snapped. I was in a crunch to get it fixed because I am going out of town in a couple of days and I needed to have it functional before I left. He was fully prepared to fix the chain when I mentioned my desire to actually replace the unit. To my surprise, he said he could do that, right now. He had all the necessary parts in the truck! He gave me some estimates, was super friendly and wasn't pushy at all when it came to selecting the right garage door opener for me. He got right to work and had the whole thing up and running super smooth in no time. Before he left, he made sure I was satisfied (which I am) and made sure he answered any questions I had.
