Ok let's start with selection. There are so many choices you might need to let some regulars pass, this might take a moment. I went with the sausage and pepper jack cheese, and it was delightful. Also had a glazed blueberry cake donut, my go-to to judge across all donut places, and it was a solid 8. Next time I'm going to try the Jimmy Dean sausage or the Granzins. Location is good, right on the corner of FM725 and IH-35 North frontage road, be careful GPS might send you to the south side. I like to think of myself as a donut, connoisseur. I love donuts, especially the cake ones. Donut Palace has a variety of glazed and cake donuts. And come holidays some really beautifully decorated quite. They have heart shaped donuts for Valentine's Day and Great decorated for Thanksgiving and Christmas holiday donuts. In addition they have kolaches. I tried the one that has a sausage patty in it and it was such a good breakfast that really fills you up. This is the type of place you need to visit multiple times to be able to try a bit of everything. On my first visit, I got a selection of donuts that were all delicious. The donut holes were airy, the cake donuts were moist and fluffy, and the frosted donuts tasted exactly how I'd expect a fresh donut from a donut place to taste. Next time, I plan to grab a cannoli and some kolaches. They'll even microwave the kolaches for you so you can enjoy it on the drive home. read more

I have to be honest, I'm a little disappointed that they are no longer carrying the cannolis. It looks like there's new owners so the options have slightly changed from what I can see. These are some amazing donuts! I got an assortment, so got to try several types and flavors of donuts. I had some surprising favorites. I'm a choco-holic, so of course I loved both the glazed and cake donuts with chocolate frosting- both types were so much lighter than most donuts I've had. The big surprise was how much I loved the blueberry donut. It was a cake type donut and had a unique flavor. Yum. Loved everything I ate. I had never been to this place before, I got the chocolate on chocolate donut, cinnamon and sugar donut, and the ham and cheese croissant. My husband got donut holes, and an original old fashion glaze. We also got a original glaze too, just to try & an apple juice to share. This Donut Palace has very tasty donuts. We compare it with our favorite spot at Donut Palace in Kerrville where we love the donuts. The freshness and flavor can also be found here. I was greeted upon entry, but all the chairs were stacked to the side so it seemed like they weren't inviting customers to eat in the shop. We got a chocolate sprinkle, a plain glazed donut. The dough was soft & airy, not dense at all, not overly sweet - very pleasant! We also got 2 small plain sausage kolaches, and they seemed quite small for the price tag of $1.75. This is probably one of the better donut places in New Braunfels! There are a lot of flavors to choose from, including unique ones like Oreo and Fruit Loop. No other place in town offers yummy flavors like these. There is a case full of kolaches of all flavors and there is a cooler full of milks, juices and sodas. The woman who helped me was extremely friendly and helped me out by saying I'd get a better deal by picking 3 more donuts to make a dozen. The donuts were fresh and flavorful! Not talking away from the business or the worker who was a very nice and had great customer service. I come from another state and being completely honest I will continue to look for a better quality doughnut shop. The doughnuts are not fresh and they are greasy and taste like fired oil. A fresh doughnut should be light and doughy and you should not taste the oil. If they can get that right it would be a great doughnut shop. Also my daughter ordered a Cannoli and it was stale and she didn't finish it. My other daughter ordered a total of 4 doughnut and didn't finish any of them. My first time eating this type of sandwich (kolache). The gentleman helping me was very patient. The red velvet cake donuts was flavorful not a strong flavor though. I think this is the best pace in NB for donuts. My kid loves donuts and he says you must try the red velvet, devil's food cake, twist and regular glazed. I've had a lot of donuts, so I like to think I know a good donut. These are some of the best donuts I've ever had! I usually don't like cakey donuts, but theirs are so different than anything I've had before. They're crispy on the outside and light and fluffy on the inside. And their flavors are all really well done. Especially lemon poppyseed! Also the owners are so nice! I went in on a Sunday morning at opening, needing two dozen donuts for my daughter's donut themed birthday party. I didn't call ahead (I feel bad I didn't), but they still were so happy to help me out. They even glazed a whole box of donuts special for my daughter with special sprinkles.
