I want to be honest because I prefer supporting local businesses. Recently, the value and presentation at Southern Maid haven't matched the pricing. $27 for two dozen glazed donuts handed over in bags instead of boxes feels like corner-cutting. Packaging is part of your brand, and it matters for customers bringing products to meetings or gatherings. The employees are friendly, but they shouldn't have to apologize for ownership decisions. Improvements in quality control, packaging, and store upkeep would go a long way. After months of passing by with intentions of stopping in, we finally got a chance to stop in and we were not disappointed. Where to start? The staff is wonderfully welcoming, a huge plus in my book. Next came the food, a big sweet cinnamon roll (but not too sweet), and a great large fresh Drip. And cheese kolache, plus an excellent fresh drip and a soda, for $12. We then sat in the corner on a comfy couch and enjoyed so relaxing. time in their nicely appointed dining area. I love Southern Maid! Great donuts and great coffee, you know that's rare actually at most donut shops! Local family owners! My favorites are the blueberry fritters (trust me SO GOOD!) Tried the jalapeno kolaches a couple weeks ago and they were not very good. The sausage tasted like a hotdog basically and the dough was lacking in flavor. The donut holes were just okay as well. My husband picked up our order and said the staff was very friendly and the service was good. He also said it looked a like a quaint coffee place. read more

The service is exceptional! The donuts are some of my favorite and I absolutely love the maple bacon donuts. The kolaches are made in house with smoked sausage from the local meat market in town. The vibe is great and it is a very warm and family friendly atmosphere! I also recommend the coffee. I had the regular coffee and my wife had the Carmel macchiato! They also have macarons. Both were delicious! I highly recommend this place if you are close by. Just a quick tip when coming, make sure to turn into the river chase neighborhood entrance because there is no entrance off of FM 306. I hope you enjoy! read more

Such a great addition to the Canyon Lake area. The shop is brand new and the staff is incredibly helpful and friendly. The donuts literally melt in your mouth. They may be a bit pricey, but it's worth it. The sausage Kolaches are made with a delicious dinner roll type dough that is soft and moist. They have a really great coffee bar as well. My only complaint is they close mid afternoon. I hope they can stay open longer. I love an afternoon coffee and I think the after school crowd would love a donut! read more

donuts were good, but we showed up around 10:30 am and they were practically out, I ended up getting a giant cinnamon roll, and it was fine up until the inner circles, where the bottom half of the roll was comp uncooked and was just dough. the sausage roll things weren't great either, and sort of tasted like a piece of beef jerky wrapped in a pastry. read more

we stopped here for a quick breakfast. I was first shocked by the cost of the donuts. $2.99 for a chocolate glaze w/ sprinkles? We bought 4 donuts, 5 kolaches and a coffee for $35. I thought that they must be some darn good donuts and kolaches at the price. We got back to our rental to eat and it was mediocre at best. We would normally pay less than $20 for what we ordered with much better quality. read more
