We found Gasconade Hills Resort on the RVLife app. We pulled up at about 5:15 PM and called the phone listed. James showed up within a couple of minutes to check us in. We did not have prior reservations so we were able to drive around to pick a spot we preferred. We set up quickly and were able to enjoy the very clean, nice size pool. The bathrooms at the pool were also very clean. Afterwards, we decided to order pizza and although it was very close to closing time, James took our order and delivered to our camping site. WE LOVED IT HERE! Can't say enough good things about it. Wish we had time to do the river floats. We are already planning to come back and stay for a few days.

Beds are full size cots, which are uncomfortable but is in line with the camping experience. Went on the 6 mile float trip, our first time doing a canoe & taking our dog. Very relaxing river, only had 1 dicey moment with some tree branches. Saw bald eagle nests, & a bald eagle fishing in the river right in front of us. Met great people on our trip, great convos. We had lunch on a rocky beach. The beavers running around the property were funny to watch. Had a great time, very relaxing. Highly recommend, would come back.

We had a great time!…read moreAlthough the cabin did not have electricity or running water, we had absolutely everything we needed at Aunt Phoebe's Perch. We spent Thanksgiving Day exploring the woods with our dogs, then we cooked a simple Thanksgiving dinner over the fire and spent the evening marveling at the full Beaver Moon rising over the bluff and listening closely to the sounds of the forest. It was perfect. We left feeling much more connected to nature and to each other. We loved it so much, we booked another cabin at Rocky Eddy Bluff farm for a few days after Christmas. 1/7/2019 UPDATE We recently returned to Rock Eddy Bluff Farm after the holidays. We just can't get enough! It's such a joy to watch our dogs run free off leash through the woods here. We can all be free at Rock Eddy! This time, we stayed down the hill at Line Camp. This cabin is tucked away in the woods but still has a nice view of the river in the winter. Line Camp is a bit smaller than Aunt Phoebe's, but it is more than enough room for two adults and two dogs. We had everything we needed, and this cabin also has a wood stove, which was fun during our late-December visit. Tom and Kathy have been incredibly thoughtful in every aspect of this business. Even the woodpile at Line Camp seems positioned thoughtfully to maximize the view of glorious night sky. If you go to Line Camp, don't forget to visit that spot at night and look up! The woods are magical, especially at dusk and dawn. The views from the rocky bluff top over the Gasconade are stunning. Thank you, Tom and Kathy, for inviting others to share in your appreciation of this place. As the cabin journals and privy books reveal, this place means so much to people. I always enjoy reading through those entries. This time, we also discovered Tom's book, A HIGH, SUNNY PLACE. We loved reading the first few chapters during our visit and hope to finish it before we return again. We'll definitely be back!

We had an unusual itinerary and four generations of family members onboard, from age 92 down to age 4. Rex helped us in the planning stages and was very accommodating and helpful. Our driver, Tyson, was the best!!! From helping older people on the bus to being very patient with the littles who all had to try out his microphone, we couldn't have asked for a better experience! Here's why I choose it every single time (and I've stayed at this hotel over 50 times and will continue to do so). 1. NO BED BUGS. The rooms are very clean and perfectly fine if you simply want a clean, comfortable place to stay. The rooms are equipped with kitchenettes, full size fridges and the AC and Heat are perfect for hot summers or cold winters (Ive stayed here for both). 2. FAMILY OWNED. Very friendly owners who try very hard to make this large hotel very nice to stay at. I've never had a problem with them or their staff. Since it's their family business, they care more than what you get at 'budget chains' because it is THEIR livelyhood on the line. They want you to come back. They want you to have a good stay. You can tell. 3. SUPER COMFY. I look forward to sleeping in their beds. They are very soft with good support. I also miss their shower heads when I go home because my home shower only generates about 1/2 the water pressure that theirs blasts you with. It's a good shower and a good night sleep. 4. GREAT LOCATION. It's literally 10 seconds down the road from The Baymont Hotel. 10 seconds that will save you $50. It has a decent size woods behind it and landscaping around it. Plenty of places to walk your dogs. They are a pet friendly hotel but I've only seen 2 dogs in the times Ive been. It's by design. They make sure the guests with pets are on levels close to where they can go out and walk them while other guests are on floors where they wont be bothered by any pet noises. It works out great for everyone and just another reason I like this place. 5. BEST PRICE. Finally, probably the most important part is also the best part of the whole thing. I've stayed at much higher priced hotels and at the very low budget hotels. The high priced ones are 'ok' but leave you wondering why you spent over $100 for one night of sleep. The low budget chains almost always feel not clean and/or not safe. AllTown Suites actually HAS the lowest price in town and feels very safe and comfy. Full stop. I've checked other places and they always beat it.
