The water in the sanctuary area is soooo blue. I couldn't believe my eyes. We walked along that part first, then walked past the hatchery. It was so cool to see the trout in different stages of life. Dogs aren't allowed to swim in the sanctuary or hatchery, and since we have a lab who's obsessed with the water, we kept walking to reach a spot where she could at least touch it. Lots of people were fishing, so we kept walking until we found a spot where she could splash around. As you can see from the photo, she had a wonderful time. We kept her leash on and I'd recommend others do the same. We didn't want her to get caught on a fishing line or scare any fish away that people were trying to catch. We paid $5 to get into the park as we were driving in, and we were able to pay with a credit card. There was plenty of parking even though it was the weekend. Definitely recommend for a day trip from the STL area!

They even offered to go to the store to pick AA batteries for us and a couple other things instead of us going to the store and purchasing it from them directly that was very kind and going above. The only reason for the four star is, I did call them to get additional towels for the cottage house we rented. Whoever answered the phone had hesitation in their voice, and seemed annoyed that I was asking for extra towels. They asked how many people were in our party because they saw a lot of people.kitchen told them yes we rented the cottage house +3 primitive cabins we had a large party, but we were not over using any space. He thought hesitation in his voice and I explained to him we only had two towels and he was more than welcome to come check if he doubted us he said oh that's strangely usually put four or five in the house I said well, they didn't then they offered to bring more as much as we all spent for the entire weekend. It was a little frustrating how we were treated in that specific scenario. They had paddle boats you could rent and we rented two. It was a decently priced 35 for four hours. They also have horseback riding and a couple other things that you can pay additional for. The cottage was fully stocked. We found Gasconade Hills Resort on the RVLife app. We pulled up at about 5:15 PM and called the phone listed. James showed up within a couple of minutes to check us in. We did not have prior reservations so we were able to drive around to pick a spot we preferred. We set up quickly and were able to enjoy the very clean, nice size pool. The bathrooms at the pool were also very clean. Afterwards, we decided to order pizza and although it was very close to closing time, James took our order and delivered to our camping site. WE LOVED IT HERE! Can't say enough good things about it. Wish we had time to do the river floats. We are already planning to come back and stay for a few days.

We were there when the new pools were put in and were supposed to be heated. We had rented many condos for events and birthday parties. Here are the facts several of the locations need updated especially the condos which I hear now are all under construction. We tolerated the bad because it was private and the fireworks display every year was awesome! Then my parents died.... That is where the nightmare began. My brother and I were listed to inherit the deed upon their death the primary amount for the ownership had been paid off for many years. There were just outrageous fees they wanted to charge my brother and I to take over what was already deeded to us in the paper work. The amount they wanted was almost the same cost of a membership. We fought and was able to just cancel the contract without paying for anything but all the money my parents paid into this scam was lost. I have also read a bunch of the responses from the business manager and most of them are snide sarcastic remarks tenement to used car sales. Most saying we cannot please everyone and discounting most of the reviews on here. So again read what the BBB has to say and head the warning. The company responded stating, "We do believe there is a misconception that Lost Valley Lake is similar to a timeshare. Lost Valley Lake is not a timeshare, but an Undivided Interest (UDI) deed. Annual membership dues were increased for maintenance reasons for the property. We are attentive to the needs of the elderly who own at Lost Valley Lake and grant exceptions for extreme hardships. We stayed at this resort this past weekend after making reservations for two nights in one of their…read moreDeluxe Kozy Kabins and also renting a primitive campsite so we could spend time at the beach. First, I want to say that the Kozy Kabin was very nice, clean, and exactly what we expected. We were very happy with our cabin. Unfortunately, our experience was completely overshadowed by the behavior of one employee. We decided to go to a nearby cove where the float trips end because the river current near the beach was moving too fast for the kids to safely use their floats. My son drove us there so he could drop me off close to the water since I have bad knees and walking through the sand is very painful. As we stopped so we could get out, a resort employee pulled up and immediately began screaming and using profanity, telling my son to "get the hell out of the way" and that we weren't allowed there. My son apologized immediately and started moving the truck, but the employee continued yelling and cursing, even directing it toward my 15-year-old granddaughter, who became so frightened that she started crying. My husband told the employee there was no need to be so disrespectful. Instead of calming the situation, the employee got out of his truck, got in my husband's face, chest-bumped him, and threatened to "kick his f*ing a." My husband had a stroke recently, has very limited use of his left side, and slurred speech. It was heartbreaking to watch someone treat him--and a teenage girl--with such hostility. I stepped between them to de-escalate the situation while another employee tried to pull the man away. Thankfully, we were able to leave without anyone getting hurt. My daughter arrived moments later after hearing the yelling from the parking lot and told us the same employee had nearly hit their vehicle after cutting them off. After everything settled down, I asked one of the employees who was trying to calm the situation for the other employee's name because I intended to report what had happened. He politely declined to give me that employee's name and would only tell me his own. I truly appreciate that he was trying to de-escalate the situation and acted professionally throughout the incident. Unfortunately, I cannot remember his name, but he was the only employee who made any effort to resolve the conflict instead of making it worse. I understand employees have difficult jobs and may need to direct traffic or keep restricted areas clear. If we were somewhere we shouldn't have been, a calm explanation would have been all that was needed. There was absolutely no excuse for the profanity, intimidation, threats, or aggressive behavior we experienced. We understand that mistakes happen and that employees have stressful jobs. What we cannot understand is why a family--including a frightened 15-year-old girl and a grandpa--was met with profanity, intimidation, and threats instead of simple, respectful communication. We truly wanted to enjoy our weekend and overlook the flooding because that was beyond anyone's control. Unfortunately, one employee's behavior completely overshadowed what could have been a wonderful stay. I sincerely hope management investigates this incident and provides additional training so no other family has to experience what we did.
