we booked 6/20 12-2 cave kayak tour for 4 people. we got there at 1130 as stated in the email, then were told we were too early. we returned at 1145, then waited until about 1215 to load the bus because we were missing another group who never showed. we got on the water around 1230/1245, then at 1:29 we're told we need to cut the trip short and turn around due to white caps in the water. although, no other group turned around, and new groups were continuing to depart. we were told by our tour guide Anna, that because the trip was cut short and we didn't make it to the caves, we would be refunded some of the trip. upon check out, we were charged the entire total and told she needed to speak with managment. we called the next day, and the manager stated "well this is the first time I heard of this" as if it was our responsibility to alert the company. she agreed to refund us $180 (half of the trip). I received the refund, then 2 days later, was charged $180 by them and they took the refund back? I called and left a voicemail but have not heard back. would recommend choosing a different company!!!!!! read more

This was a fantastic tour! Our guide McKenzie (I believe his real name is Ian) was friendly laid back and knowledgeable. He let me use some sunscreen that he had on hand as I came unprepared. I was very anxious about the experience beforehand since I hadn't done anything but canoeing downstream twice about 20 years ago and my husband had no experience. We had an initial learning curve to get used to working together but we got the hang of it and had a great time (even though we weren't exactly dressed for it- wearing jeans and gym shoes). Ian? was funny professional and knew how to make the trip light and interesting and gave great suggestions for local restaurants and overall made the time pass surprisingly quickly for a four mile 2.5 hour trip and we had a blast. I would highly recommend this experience to everyone coming to Door County!!! read more

My husband and I did the 4 hour half day tour and were pretty disappointed. No option given and had to go in a tandem kayak. Cliff jumping is advertised, but our guide told us that we weren't allowed to jump during the tour. When you go as a group and arrive at Whitefish Dunes, you have to decide as a group what everyone will do together and it's so awkward to decide on one activity as a group. We ended up hiking on uneven terrain in flip flops with both children and older participants requiring frequent stops. Lunch is advertised and is a cliff bar and 3 slices of summer sausage. Spent over $300 for two and ultimately wish we would have just rented kayaks and not done a tour. Our guide Levi was very nice, but definitely not worth the money. read more

We started our day off right with a 9am half day (4 hour) tour with DCKT. We had heard great things over the years from a former guide, Ellen. The check-in process was quick and easy with QR codes available to scan for the waivers and safety video. All guides were wearing masks! Our group had 5 people and our tour had a total of 10. Most of the kayaks were tandem, but those of us who had parties with an odd number of people were able to utilize the single kayaks, as well. We had the option to take the bus to the water or drive our own vehicle if we were more comfortable with that. We handed out paddles and did a quick ice breaker with our guide, Evan, and got started with our tour. Our whole group was adults and everyone was very friendly. The experience level varied amongst the group, and Evan did a great job of making sure we took stops to regroup where he would share some fun facts and dad jokes to the group. He also did a great job of kindly directing everyone and giving some tips to those who were beginners. About halfway through, we were able to take a look into a cave, which was really cool. After exiting the cave, we had the opportunity to be photographed. You could also take your own photos throughout and cell phone carriers to keep your phone dry were available for $10 while checking in. A couple hours in we had the opportunity to get out of the kayaks and take a very short walk (pretty much any waterproof shoes would've been fine to wear) to an area where we were given a quick snack with some Door County specialties including cherry juice, cherry/goat cheese spread, and summer sausage. There was also a Clif Bar and all of the snacks were individually packed for each person. After eating we had the opportunity to jump off the rocks into the water at Cave Point if we wanted to. It was a really fun experience and some other family members who did not kayak were able to meet us out there to take pictures of the jumps. After that, we headed back and wrapped up the tour. Evan was a great tour guide! Awesome conversationalist and did really well in making sure he was attentive to everyone in our large group of 10. We wanted to enjoy a half day on the water checking out door county's beautiful shores along Lake Michigan with a couple of our teenage boys. We started the day at Door County Kayak Tours home base to take the "cave point whitefish dunes half day kayak tour". The check in process was smooth and all gear needed was included as mentioned and was good quality equipment. Just show up got fitted and from there we met out tour guides which were a couple college kids. We did a safety video, a little instruction and off to the vans to get to the water. There were about 18 people in our group and some younger kids (take a look at my tip) which was not as bad as it seems once we got to the water and paddling along. We got to the water at the launch site, got our paddles and paired up to get in the kayaks. It was fairly organized and within 10 minutes on our way. The lake was beautiful and as we paddled along the guides pointed out highlight features and made the journey fum. We went into cave point and enjoyed getting to go into the caves were but they are fairly small and had to go in one at a time for a minute or two and then reverse back out. We then paddled a bit further south to start our hike were we left our kayaks tied up along some rocks. The hike was nice to take a break from paddling at this point but the hike was too long and at times a bit boring. The highlight was going to devils bathtub and took a few jumps from the cliffs above into Lake Michigan... it's a must and Was refreshing with some thrill mixed in. I also enjoyed getting a few nice pictures but our boys got a little board at times. We had some snacks which was nice- consisting of cheese, crackers and meat (we are vegetarian so that was a bummer) and some water while at some picnic tables near devils bathtub. Nice to have the break but it was not anything to grand just as a heads up. We continued on the hike south toward whitefish bay dunes and that was lame since it was through a forest. I guess I was expecting more for this portion and would rather be paddling. When we got to the dunes that was a bit uneventful as well since water levels are so high on the Great Lakes right now. Still nice to jump in the water. The hike was to long in general and would probably say not worth it. You can do this on your own time instead of paying for it. From there we hiked back north past everything we already saw so that was a grInd as we were not think we would hike that long and had aqua socks or sandals since we thought we were going to get more wet. Then the northbound return paddle was more difficult as the current was pushing south. We thought part of the trip consisted of checking out one of ship wreck but that never happened since the water was too cloudy? I was a bit unhappy on that note since we could see the bottom as the lake was calm and him clear. Otherwise it was the same cliffs and formations on the way back with the added scream of little kids at times. A long day overall but don't take the negative points the wrong way. We still enjoyed the day. How often to you paddle along amazing cliffs in beautiful waters? I would recommend going with Door County Kayak Tours - the experience was fun and something different for sure. Tip: Be aware this is physical and little kids were a tired and crabby in the group by the end. On the hike a pair of shoes would be better than sandals or water shoes. I need up going barefoot since the sand and mud were grinding my feet (fun) Our boys enjoyed the younger tour guides ... (was worried my 16 yr old son was trying to get phone numbers :) honestly but the guides did make it fun for them as well) read more

This was such a lovely activity, and our guide, Evan, was fantastic! He was very knowledgeable and informative about the shipwreck, the petroglyphs, the general history of Door County, and concerning the scenery (the gorgeous cliffs, the caves, and the winged creatures we saw including an eagle that was almost staged with how perfectly it appeared ;) ) We were a group of 7 extended family members ranging in age from 15 to 57, including four teenagers, and everyone enjoyed it. We stopped in here on a cloudy Saturday afternoon to rent e-bikes. The staff was very friendly and helpful at showing us a good route to take and how to use the bikes since we were not doing a tour with them. We biked on the recommended route all the way down to whitefish dunes park and back. We used the highest setting possible so we were able to get a lot of miles in. It was absolutely beautiful. We went an hour and a half longer than our scheduled time and the staff was super chill and accommodating about that, and provided good local recommendations on things to do afterwards. Would definitely recommend this spot to anyone looking for a fun activity to do. read more

Please listen very carefully to this review, it will save you a lot of time and headache. Forget about going to this place you might as well think of it as a gym workout for an hour you will be put on a kayak and you will go for nearly 2 hours until your arms get out I've never had to pay for a workout, move and get something else. Our family of four (including a 12 and 14 yr old) rented e-bikes for 2 hrs in Jacksonport on Sunday. We had so much fun! It was a gorgeous fall day. We were originally scheduled to go the day before, but it was rainy so they let us change our reservation to the following day. They did a great job communicating with us through phone calls and texts, made sure the bikes were the right size for the kids and that we had helmets, and were good about giving us general info about the bikes. We did not meet anyone in person. We called when we arrived and texted when we returned and they opened and closed the garage door for us so we could get the bikes out and in. There were paper maps available and a QR code you could scan to get a map on your phone. We took Cave Point Dr south towards Whitefish Dunes State Park. The bikes were in excellent condition. We will deferent from them when we return to Door County! read more
