When our son, who is on the autism spectrum, heard about a gem shop, he couldn't wait to go. On arrival, he was so disappointed that the amazing selection didn't include gems that look like the ones we draw (classic diamond shape). Shannon, the amazing proprietor, came to our rescue. She explained how gems come from nature and can be cut and polished. She managed to cheer up our son, who decided on a pile of magnetic stones to purchase. On my last trip to Door County, Wisconsin, this establishment saved my life. I mean that eternally. After my husband screamed at me for dropping his bottle of hot sauce on the floor, I had no choice to leave the cabin and search for refuge. I ended up pulling off at this Location. I came in crying an d hyperventilating. The staff let me stay as long as I wanted and even let me take a nap on the store floor, in the back! Floor was clean! My husband and I are still not on speaking terms but the sweet and cute employee that afternoon by the name of Audra saved my life. The Good: Inventory is eclectic. Reasonably priced if you know what you're looking for. The Bad: A bit Disorganized. The Ugly: I HAVE NEVER BEEN SO DISSAPOINTED WITH ADULTS AS I HAVE WITH THE OWNERS OF THIS ESTABLISHMENT. IMMATURE, GREEDY & SELFISH. I have known the owners for 3 years.Thought of them as wonderful people. I even invested $300 in a trip to visit them and confirm a job opportunity that meant the world to my 2 year old daughter and myself at the time. My entire family was very excited for us and thankful we would be in such good hands while living so far away.(Little did we all know at the time what a lie that would be). At the time we talked about the job position and confirming that I was willing to take it, I let the Barnes know my Dad had just been diagnosed with Primary Liver Cancer and the only thing that would change our plans would be if the worst of the worst was diagnosed.....It was. My parents hadn't told me the full extent before I made the trip to WI. Not even close. I was told to bring my belongings to their property before the trip so that moving up for the season would be easier. So I took my most valuable and sentimental belongings, 2 months worth of food and diapers for my daughter, BluRay Player, a new $250 Pack-n-Play, a $150 dollar lighting fixture still brand new in box, irreplaceable picture and memories.......believing it would all be safe and taken care of while I returned home to provide my employer at the time with 2 weeks and settle all affairs before relocating. 3 days after returning home to finalize the relocation, my Dad sat me down...... He had to let me know, his Cancer had been deemed Terminal. They gave him 3 months. My world shattered right there and continues to every. single. day. So of course, I had to make the choice of going or staying and helping my family through this new hell. I chose to stay. ANYONE WOULD. I informed Scott of the news and I would need to really think about what I would be doing to our family if I just up and left for Wisconsin as originally planned. he said he understood and wished us the best. Lovely right? WRONG. Before my Dad even had a chance to process or let any other family members know that he was even sick in the first place, JULIE posted a HORRIBLE, DEFACING, MALICIOUS, UNPROVOKED message on my public facebook for all to see. She said I was a terrible mother, my family was sick of me and trying to pawn me off on them (I am nearly 30 & take care of my child and life on my own.) & then she stooped to a whole new level. Julie claimed my Dad was faking his Cancer and not even sick! ARE YOU F**king KIDDING ME???!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! HORRIBLE. In NO WAY is that justifiable! I contacted Scott right away. Nothing. No Answer. No apology. I obviously needed my belongings, so I kept reaching out to them because, with the small amount of time given for my family, we can not afford the time or finances to drive all the way up to Door County to get my belongings. So My Dad took his precious time and reached out to Scott about my things. Everything was supposedly going alright and I was supposed to receive measurements so that I could have a company simply pick up my things and send them on my dime. After two weeks Scott running me and my Dad around the bush, I asked for measurements again. This led to another outlandish verbal attack, only this time it was by Scott telling me I just have to F**cking get over it and my belongings ( and my infant daughters) meant nothing to them. I was lucky they were being so "Kind" in the first place. I couldn't get another response from him after that blowup, and my terminally ill father has better things to do than waste his time on heartless people with no sense of reality. So I pressed the "1 star" review button on their business because honestly, it was my experience and it has been HORRIBLE!!!!!!!!!!!! At 8am the following morning of my review, Scott and Julie call my Dad, not me, and inform him they will have their lawyer draw up papers that I will need to sign saying I will not slander or impede on their reputation as business owners or people because my review was A LIE. NOPE. Your better off wasting your money on any other business in Door County because no one should have to be subjected to their crooked tactics and lack of morality. I STILL have had no word on my belongings and now believe they have invaded and/or displaced them. I WILL NOT STOP BECAUSE THIS IS WRONG. I WILL NOT BE BULLIED. I WILL NOT BE INSULTED. I WILL NOT BE TOLERANT ANYMORE. read more
