This store has vintage clothing and jewelry, consignment clothing, new clothing samples, scarves, purses, and more. I can spend hours browsing in this store. And Betsy, the owner, is such a lovely person. I usually find something unique to buy each time I stop in and so do the friends I bring with me. You will truly enjoy Betsy's decorating talent as the shop is filled with vintage hats and displays. A must stop if you're anywhere near Sister Bay!

If you like clothes be prepared to spend some time treasure hunting in this shop. ON this year's trip I got a great deal on the most buttery leather Coach bag. Plus a couple of bags just loaded with great designer brands (many were even new with tags!). They carry both standard and plus sizes too. I have been going here for at least 10 years when we go up to Door County on vacation and I am never disappointed. Besty, the owner, is the genuine article herself. It is a little tucked away in the cute boardwalk of shops behind the Piggly Wiggly grocery store. Plus she has a couple of comfy chairs right in the shop where your hubby/boyfriend can relax while he waits.

The library is just a half block to block off Bay Shore Drive, but in going that distance I spied this little shop that I hadn't noticed before. It's easy to miss, since most of the shops are along Bay Shore. I'm glad I took the time to see what it was about because it's adorable and I went back later in the day. This shop has a TON of kids stuff. Lots of children's clothes and toys, but it's more than just a kid's store; they have women's clothing as well. What really knocked me over is that they have plus size clothing as well. I can tell you that the number of non-chain stores that carry both "regular" and plus size clothing at the same place I could probably count on just a few fingers, so this was really cool to see. There were a few things that caught my eye, but I loaded up on stuff for the kiddo instead. Amongst the aforementioned things that made me happy with this boutique, it was great that they had a good balance of "boy" and "girl" kids clothing. I didn't know the gender of my baby until she was born, but when I'd wander through a shop seeking gender neutral items, they were really difficult to find. And then most of the shops tended to lean much more toward girl's clothing than boys with regards to style (e.g., dresses) or color palette (since we still think boys and/or girls can't wear certain colors). But someone at LRH must have gotten that memo because I found just as many things for girls as boys, and at the time thought it was too bad my friend hadn't joined us in this shop since she has lamented about baby and children's stores having a more limited supply of things for boys. The service was friendly as well. All in all I had a lot of fun shopping here and wandering around. It's here that I found some adorable shoes that although my babe will kick them off about as soon as I put them on I still do, because they change colors when they get wet. The store had some boots in the same line but I couldn't find a size and color I liked, but I'm glad I learned about the brand here. Parking is a cinch because in a rarity along this stretch of Bay Shore Drive, LRH has its own parking lot. Have fun shopping!

There is also an adorable cafe with a kids play area that will keep you kiddo entertained for quite awhile. Their selection is so vast, I could wander for hours and admire the wares. I had to pick up some Swedish Candy, of course, although the chocolates had to stay on the shelf due to the 100-degree heat outside. But Salty licorice and Bubs skulls came home with me. Delicious. I was most excited to find that they carry clothing. I bought a couple of dresses by Paapii, a Finnish brand. They make comfy dresses and tunics in all kinds of cute patterns. Everyone at the store was so friendly and willing to help out. The dressing room was occupied for a while, so they offered to let me try on my outfits in the ladies room instead. My haul ended up being quite pricey, but that is not Skal's fault. Their prices are rather reasonable in my opinion, I just...bought a lot of stuff. Be warned, you might too!

It's a charming little place packed with Scandinavian goodies. My friend is from Sweden, and she was over the moon about the authentic candy and really excited to see some of the clothing brands they had. I, on the other hand, got totally distracted by all the adorable gifts and knick-knacks. Every display was so thoughtfully arranged. Seriously, it felt like walking into a Pinterest board. The clerks were kind and helpful, and it had that warm, welcoming vibe that makes you want to linger. The prices were very reasonable, considering we were in such a touristy area. I picked out a Christmas ornament as a souvenir, and I know I'll smile every time I hang it on the tree. Such a sweet little stop. Everyone should check them out if they are in Door County, WI!

Yes, you're probably going to wait for a table -- just expect it and enjoy the experience! Once you're seated and place your order, though, the food comes out amazingly fast. You can't go wrong with the authentic Swedish pancakes and lingonberries, and I think you get a great meal for the price. I also tried the Swedish Sangria made with Brut, Swedish Glogg & Fruit this time, and it was tasty! And then there are the famous goats on the grass-covered roof! Unfortunately, we arrived a little too late in the day and apparently the goats had already called it quits. We even walked around back looking for them! No goats, but we did get to see their little staircase leading up to the roof. Next time, we'll have to get there earlier! Whatever you do, don't leave without visiting the gift shop aka Butik! Give yourself some time because there is SO much to look at -- Door County souvenirs, clothing, ornaments, home decor, gifts and plenty of Al Johnson's goodies to take home. We loaded up on Swedish pancake mix, cinnamon sugar, Door County cherry jam and gifts for family and friends. I think I spent almost 45 minutes in there! After coming here for more years than I'm going to admit, Al Johnson's is still one of those quintessential Door County experiences.
