I believe that it is currently used as a Boy Scout / Girl Scout camp. At one time they were great views of central Oahu towards Diamond Head from this ridge, but the trees have grown and it is not as spectacular as before. There are picnic tables around the area that would make a great place to come and enjoy a secluded lunch, if you are working on Camp Smith.

You can rent a pavilion for your own little enclave to picnic by bringing your own food and drinks supplemented by CPK pizza, salad, Mac & cheese for the kiddies. Starting to drizzle? Doesn't bother all the people in the pool. You can even purchase shave ice and coffee here. Hot fun in the summer time. This is the life. Hubs chose this venue for his birthday celebration with the grandkiddies. You know the nursery rhyme about Jack n Jill? Well... today hubs was Jack, not steady on his feet coming down the hill and took a big spill down the hill. Maybe he thought he was young at heart.

It has BBQs as well. The rec center is one of the best I've seen by homeowner's standards. Roomy, clean, indoors, restrooms, fridge, sink, stove tables, chairs and a long counter to set up food on. It's a great venue to rent out for an event. The one drawback is you have to live there, or know someone that does I wanna say it's around $100- $150 to rent. Located in the Temple Valley area, across from Koolau Center where Times Market and McDonald's is. Plenty of parking on the street. I would befriend a homeowner or move in to take advantage !@ LOL

The security guards don't like you parking at the mall if your going to the park so be aware of where you park. My husband coaches football here so we are here every day of the week M- F. There are restrooms but they aren't very clean and around 4ish, 5ish a lot of high school kids hang around the restrooms but not bothersome to the kids or parents. The park is very nice other then that, alot of shaded areas. And we do enjoy it here.

One of the best well kept, hidden secrets on Windward side of Oahu. Lots of free parking available on both sides of the street. Also park along Hui Iwa Street as a secondary option. This site is hidden from the street with secured gates. Ambiance is clean, low key and ideal for comfortably hosting 50 to 60 people. Outside of recreation center includes outdoor tables with benches on both sides of the facility and four BBQ grills. We also had room for bean toss bag set-up for kids and adults. There were tables and chairs inside the recreation center to accommodate 64 guests, kitchen with sink and spacious for setting up food line and desserts. Decided to have coolers of beverages outside of building. Recreation center overlooks 3 ft to 8 ft rectangular swimming pool, kiddie pool, lounge chairs. There's a separate building across from the pools that offer men and womens' restroom. Womens bathroom includes two toilets stalls, shower area, two sinks with two liquid soap dispensers. There are signs that indicate warning no lifeguards on duty. However, we had one lifeguard on duty to ensure safety of guests. No diving allowed sign. There is also a please shower before entering the pool sign located at bathroom entrances. The only amenity this place does not have is a jacuzzi. Beautiful and stunning view of the Koolau Range is the icing on the cake for any celebration. Quite pleasantly surprised with amazing pool party.

Updating my review because I have now officially stayed in the yurts, cabins, and the updated…read morehales. All have their pros and cons, but overall each experience is 5-stars. Starting off with the cheapest option, the cabins. Price range from $220-$250 a night. There is one full-sized bed and two separate bunk beds which accommodate up to 6 people. There's AC, mini fridge, microwave, and bathroom inside with toilet and shower. Con is that there is no lanai with grill. The Yurts also accommodate 6 people and go for $250-$300 a night, with Kama'aina saving an extra 10% Monday-Thursday from Sept.-April. There are 2 sets of bunk beds, a microwave, grill, and power strips inside to charge all of your devices etc. My favorite part of the Yurt is the lanai with picnic table, grill, and beautiful views of the ocean with direct access to the beach. Con is that the toilet and showers are located outdoors. But who doesn't love a beach shower? The most expensive are the Hale units which are newly renovated and go for $360-$400 a night and accommodate up to 5 people with a queen bed and 2 bunk beds. There's 2 AC units, full sized kitchen, indoor bathroom, and a rooftop area with panoramic views of the mountains and ocean. This is the most luxurious stay with the only real con being further away from the ocean (maybe 500 feet from the beach).
