Called to set up time for a consult. They were busy but promised to call back. Never did. They might be great. Who would know?

When I first inquired, Tim (the owner) reached out and scheduled a consultation/evaluation of my existing system for the following day. He arrived on time, was professional and very knowledgeable. He sent me over a couple different proposals that he believed would be best for me and my usage. I reached out to competing companies to test the market and one company found out that I was on a different NEM standard than we previously thought. This discovery made me second guess getting solar for the time being. I reached out to Tim and he said that he estimated I would still need to upgrade but that I could give it a few months to see how my energy bills were in the winter and early spring. To say he was right was an understatement! My bills went from $60 to over $300 some months. Now that I knew that adding to my system was worth it and had more information, I reached back out to Tim. He didn't miss a beat in suggesting a system that maximized my output and didn't break the bank. (Mind you, he spent hours going back and forth with me answering questions and concerns I had) Ultimately, I chose to go with Tim because of his expertise (he was an electrician prior to starting Golden State Solar), professionalism, customer service and honesty. He never pushed me to make a decision and gave me multiple options that he believed were best. The permit and installation process were painless and completed within a couple months (mostly waiting for the permit). The system drastically increased my solar output and I couldn't be more happy with my choice to go with Golden State Solar!

The team started the removal on Tuesday but had to leave after 3 panels die to very high winds. I have a 2nd story steep slope roof so is was not safe for the crew. Sarah was very professional rescheduled a crew for Wednesday. Of course it was pouring when they arrived but the wind was not a factor. They removed the 28 panels but had to leave the roof mounts in. If removed I would have leaks all over my 2nd story of my house. Daddario roofing is scheduled for Monday to remove the roof and again Sarah came through. Sarah had a team out Friday morning to remove the roof mounts and we are good to go. Sarah did a amazing job of rescheduling 2 different crews that I am sure were already scheduled to get my job on time. Great work by all!

I recently completed a solar system installation with 18 panels and 2 batteries. Our original goal…read more(as we communicated to the company multiple times) was to fully disconnect from PG&E and rely on our backup generator for power during lengthy poor weather time periods. The initial installation went smoothly, but everything since then has been disappointing & frustrating. The county permitting process was delayed by nearly 8 weeks because the solar installation was not up to code. When they sent out a team to fix the problem, they ordered the wrong insufficient materials because they somehow didn't know the size of the array that they had installed weeks earlier. It eventually passed the county permitting inspection. Then there were problems with functionality during a power outage. During the sales process we voiced multiple concerns around having sufficient battery capacity to sustain multiple days of poor weather. We spent a lot of time & money to have our generator permitted based on this conversation. We were told that our standby generator could be used to recharge the batteries. When a lengthy PG&E outage coupled with bad weather in early January caused our batteries to drain to zero, with no generator charging, I contacted their service department email yet it took them 15 days to respond. They told me that the batteries can never be recharged with the generator and insisted that the prior conversations never occurred. We never would have spent $$$$ on generator permitting if we were told that it was impossible to charge the batteries via the generator. Overall, a very disappointing and experience. While the solar array works fine during good weather, that's not the primary reason why we installed the system. Poor service, dishonesty and incompetence are unaccetpable. I can't recommend working with a company that behaves in this fashion.

I was to discover it really was a "We mean business" referral. Keith Larsen came out, spent considerable time inspecting my large tiled roof and made many detailed notes accompanied by pictures. He also recommended additional work to preserve the integrity of the roof. I decided to have them do the work listed in the report, as well as install vents which the roof did not have. The team came out the next week and completed every item on the list. They were even able to replace some broken and loose tiles with ones removed to install the vents, leaving the roof both clean and with a uniform look. Some three months later I needed some paperwork for an accounting issue and contacted Ross Solar for an updated invoice. To my surprise and delight, my email got a response in 30 minutes with precisely the information I needed. Thorough work. Prompt service and scheduling. Outstanding record-keeping. This was my experience with Ross Roofing & Solar.

They were respectful of my property. I was glad we decided to have them put the screening around the system to keep birds from making nests underneath. They calculated the right amount of panels - I barely have an electric bill now. It was a smarter value to buy the system outright instead of leasing too. While they were on the roof, they noticed 2 broken tiles in a different area and brought it to our attention. RR was able to find the discontinued tiles! We were glad to have them take care of that as well.

I was to provide the labor, some materials, call for and pass inspections and provide the PG&E meter. From the beginning all went wrong, the only materials delivered to my property were the panels and the inverter. I paid for or made trips myself to Pacific Grove 4 time, one having to hire a large truck and driver to bring pipe and racks. Small parts, wires, connectors I have to pick up myself. Next, the plans furnished was wrong and would not meet County requirements. I had arranged for a auger/tractor to drill the 8 foundation post holes as er plans. This problem was not obvious until we set the pipe post in concrete and remeasured we found the plans were two holes short and the auger was gone. Their error was confirmed by ASE. The lack of having all the equipment at hand created labor problems, the process was not efficient and took a longer than it should have incurring higher labor costs. The project was completed 10/1/2019 with final inspection approval by the County. By contract ASE was to submit the paperwork to PG&E for their approval to connect our system to their meter and the start of my benefits for the expense and work. The final approval from PG&E was given on 2/5/2020, a full 5 months later. PG&E rejected the paperwork from ASE Five (5) Times for simple errors such as no "X" in a box, wrong meter number, duplicate meter number etc... The form required by PG&E is their standard form and ASE should have it on their computer and just change the information to fit the application. Each error wasted at least 3 weeks and my average $300 per month PG&E bill kept clicking on. ASE took no responsibility for their errors. ASE staff on the other hand was friendly and easy to deal with but that "benefit" does not negate the complete disorganization of the company. I have over 25 emails and countless phone conversation regarding their shortcomings. Benjamin B.
