They get the job done in a timely manner and get it done correctly the first time. The roofers working on the job are knowledgeable and courteous. They take every precaution, like putting foam pads on the tile roof before they walk on it to prevent any further breakage of the tiles. I cannot tell you how many other roofing companies just walked on our roof without any regard to further damage, breaking tiles as they did their inspection and then billing me for the tiles that they broke. Dority Roofing put a very expensive roof on my house five years ago. I never asked for corners to be cut, but that was the case. I had leaks at a skylight with the very first rain of that year but was told, basically, that that was my problem. I paid my building contractor to make those repairs. Then a few months later, there was a leak in my garage. Again, Dority would not stand by their work. I did engage them to come back in and do the repairs, for which I was charged $500. Now, five years later, there were so many leaks at skylights I HAD to get help. One very well known roofing company in our area wouldn't touch my job with a 10-foot pole; the job 5 years ago was done so poorly. They basically said their reputation would be at stake putting their name on this. Two other roofing companies' owners just shook their heads in disbelief. All three literally felt sorry for me. Five years ago, flashing had not been replaced, the old tar and gravel roof had not been removed; there was now dry rot under my eaves. As stated, there were many leaks at skylights and also a leak where pitches met. I would have let this slide, but having heard what I did from these other roofers, I just can't. read more

Buyers should do a careful analysis of the benefits of different systems that carry different costs / benefits. We had an old tar and gravel roof removed, and replaced with a comp roof. They came out promptly after we contacted them to make an estimate. The provided lots of helpful advice while we were in the planning phase, including giving us a very honest assessment of our home's options for solar. The work was done quickly, efficiently, and well. Crew worked together nicely, and was very polite to our family while the work was being done. Cleaned up nicely too. I am going to go out on a ledge here (pun intended) and state that no one likes dealing with roofing or skylight problems. We had a leaky skylight above our bed and it was up to me to deal with it. I looked on Yelp, as I do for most things, and I called Dority Roofing and left a message to call me back. I got a call back from the owner, Kasey Dority and he came out at the scheduled time to look at the problem. He was prompt, knowledgeable, assuring. The 2 workers that came out to install the skylight were great. They took off their shoes since they had to walk through the house to access the skylight. One week later I have a new skylight and no leaks! I did not compare prices so I cannot opine on that but it appeared fair to me. I would use this firm again. read more

We own a lovely cottage in the heart of Carmel and have spent the last year renovating it. Along the way, we have worked with the good, the bad and the ugly when it comes to contractors. The final piece of the jigsaw was to fit a replacement roof. Carmel City are pretty set in their attitudes towards what materials constitute an acceptable roof that 'fits' the locale. As such, the old wood shakes roof we had inherited had to be replaced with another of the same material. We searched online, asked our neighbors and drove around to get local roofing companies to provide us with a quote. In the end, we appointed DORITY ROOFING of Pacific Grove to do the job. The initial meetings we had with Monique and Kasey (the owners) gave us the level of confidence we were looking for. No matter what opinions/research you receive or undertake, the actual decision is, by its nature, a leap of faith that what is promised will be delivered. Dority were not the cheapest, but their professional approach, detailed timeline and seamless service gave them an edge over the competition. We duly signed a contract to have 3/4 inch Canadian cedar shakes installed alongside nine new Vellux skylights, with extensive copper flashing. The date for starting the installation was agreed. On the first day, as the sun came up, they came out of the West - THE FOUR MUSKETEERS - Wayne, Jose, Ruben and Jorge. The work they did for us was beyond first class. Nothing, and I man NOTHING was too much trouble. Their workmanship was truly marvelous. They cleaned up thoroughly at the end of each day and gave us a roof that really does our cottage justice. Kasey was there first thing every morning to meet with his Musketeers and ensure that everything was progressing as planned. They were friendly and had a genuine pride in their work that reflected in the finished roof. Dority Roofing replaced our older composite shingle roof a couple of years ago. They were absolutely excellent with which to work, prompt, courteous, professional. The new roof is beautifully done, including two difficult roof valleys that required overlapping shingle installation on the second story. Since the installation, they have been to our home to clean & inspect the roof. Everytime they have been helpful and courteous. In our recent windstorms, a corner of our roof sustained damage from a tree that fell. Dority Roofing was out the day we called to inspect and repair the damage. In renovating my new home, I realized it would need a new roof, and I wanted to install solar as well. A contractor friend in Maryland asked me if I'd ever heard of CertainTeed Roofing. He said this is the best I could do, and that unlike other shingle/composition makers, this company warranted the workmanship as well as the roofing product, and that they would never come back and not pay a claim, or pay only a small percentage, saying that the installer was at fault. They always pay 100% of any replacement! I had never heard of CertainTeed, and looked them up. I love working with locals, and here was Dority Roofing in P.G.! Not only this, but they have the highest rating possible from CertainTeed. It gets even better! I wanted to install solar, but have always been afraid that the solar installers would ruin or compromise the roof. Turns out Dority is Roofing AND Solar!!! I hired them for both new roof and new solar, a skylight and some light tubes. They were THE BEST! Not only Kasey, the owner, who is a stickler for perfection in installation, but every crew member! The neighbors even told me how impressed they were with the installers, their good manners, their consideration of those on my street. I was impressed with how expertly every detail was attended to. There were no surprises, other than that I saw either Kasey or Westley (head of the solar department) or sometimes both, on the roof each day! Had leaks from 2 parts of our roof in Pebble Beach last weekend. Contacted Dority Roofing and Kasey arrived on time as promised. Assessed our problem as well as taking pictures to show us where the problem was. Later the same day he provided estimates for the repairs which we then okayed. This review is much overdue, because Dority Roofing & Solar completed the beautiful new roof on our weekend home in Carmel more than a year ago. We were a bit desperate when our insurance company informed us it would no longer insure our home, because of the cedar shake roof. We went online to search for a roofing company in the area and after reading pages of reviews, we decided on Dority Roofing. We didn't know then that it would be one of the best decisions we've made. We hated the idea of having to use composite material instead of the natural cedar that we'd had for over 40 years but Kasey Dority assured us that he would come up with something we'd like. He showed us the many options in their showroom and then suggested that we go see examples of roofs they had done in various locations, which we did. He then drove us through Pacific Grove and pointed out many more. It helped us settle on Certain Teed "Landmark TL" - country gray. We were not able to be on site throughout the installation of the roof but felt confident in the competency of Kasey and his crew. It was not something we had ever done before. We took a leap of faith. Everything was explained in detail beforehand, including protecting the interior from possible falling debris and dirt. We were sent pictures and updates throughout the process and any questions we had were answered promptly by the staff. When we were finally able to see it for ourselves, we were more than pleased. It looked almost like our original roof and maybe even better! The grounds were untouched. Not a branch was broken or plant overturned. I am highly impressed with Dority Roofing. We do not make decisions easily and Kasey was very impressive with his knowledge and we felt comfortable with him and knew he would be easy to work with. He was not the lowest bid, but we felt he was the right person to do the job right. He was helpful in making sure we had a lot of houses to look at to get an idea of how our new roof would look. We even changed the type of roofing shingle just a day before the crew was to begin, and Kasey went out of his way to change the order. The crew was fantastic. We have open beam ceilings which would have rained dirt into the house during the roofing process. The crew taped up plastic wrap under the ceilings all over the house (took many hours); was impressive how much dirt there was, and none got into the house. The crew worked efficiently and took care of everything. Roofing license was obtained on short notice. Metal work subcontractor arrived and did their work on time and even worked late so as to have job done for the roofers the next day. Roofing crew cleaned up after work each day and you wouldn't have known that the roofing was even in progress at the end of each day. Finally once the job was done it was DONE. For example, there were spots uncovered on the adjacent walls that needed painting. The crew took care of that so that nothing was imcomplete. Overall, a fine company that I can recommend with no reservations. read more
