My husband and I absolutely loved our experience with Scudder Roofing. Our experience could not have been better. The people at Scudders used excellent quality materials, with experienced workers, and are very nice, patient, friendly, hardworking, professional, and kept their word. Our roof looks simply fabulous. We first met with Javier, Project Consultant, who explained the process, styles of roofing, potential costs, estimated time to do the job, warranties, payment schedule, and much more. As we were emailed the 19 page contract, and more, I read every word and had numerous questions. I wanted clarity of the contract and did not want any misunderstandings. (I appreciated that everything was in writing, as opposed to a well-known painting company that we had recently dealt with, who gave no paperwork and not only changed what was agreed upon, but did not finish the job.) Javier met with us and patiently answered every question. Really a nice guy. We also met a week prior to our start date of the job with Jaime, Project Manager, to discuss outside and inside protection issues of our plants, trees, and inside wall hangings etc., along with the projected daily schedule. Jaime and his men were always on time, working hard each day, practiced COVID manners, took their appropriate and needed breaks during our hot weather, kept me updated, patiently answered all of my questions, and cleaned up at every day's end. Jaime is a man of integrity for his work and respecting the owner's home. We have a very high challenging roof with different pitches. I would call it a very scary roof to work on and it is why we waited so long to have our roof redone. I thought it a potential accident waiting to happen, but they tackled it with high skill. Anytime that I had questions for the office, I loved, Janet, Connie, and Jen answering the phone with their friendly quick and polite assistance. Martha with the accounting department was the best to put it mildly. Scudders finished to the day that they had said initially it would take, and followed up quickly with their warranty paper work on our roof. I am more than unhappy with Scudder Roofing. Completely aside from how nice they may be and how professional they appear, they sold my 89 year old aunt a 50-60 year, top of the line new roof. Now you tell me, what does an 89 year old need with a 50 year roof? It sounds like deliberate deception to me and may even qualify as elder abuse. She was hit with a bill for $49,000 and change and had to take a good deal of money out her IRA and put the rest on a charge card which, if she made the minimum payment each month, would take her 30 years to pay off. We contracted with Scudder to install a tesla battery. They called and asked if we wanted to get the installation a few weeks early. We agreed and they came and installed it. During the installation they asked us, "what circuits do you want backed up". That was the first time we heard that. Of course we thought it would backup all the circuits. We had a few minutes to decide and we picked quickly. After they left we though about it and realized that we made a few mistakes. I contacted them and explained the situation and asked them to come out and change 2 of the circuits. They stalled and stalled and finally they sent me a quote for $500 to change 2 circuits! Huge ripoff. A few weeks after the installation they fired the guy who did our install. Scudder has no respect for the work they do or the clients. Once they get your money you are on your own. Don't trust them. They have very poor communication and if they make a mistake they will try to make you pay for it! read more

Working with Scudder Roofing was my BEST experience ever with a contractor. After spending years remodeling the interior of our home, it was time to finally replace the original shake roof. My experience with the entire Scudder team was top notch. Ray, the sales consultant not only made sure he stayed within my budget, but also brought samples out to my home and gave me referrals to homes to look at different colors so I could make an educated decision. The install team was beyond professional. It just happened that one of the biggest storms in years occurred during my install. Carlos' team got the roof sealed completely prior to the storm and when the unexpected high winds hit on the weekend, Carlos was there at 6:30 AM on Saturday during the pouring rain to go up on the roof and make sure everything was still secure. He went up on the roof every day during the storm and they got the job complete as soon as it cleared up. They both answered any question I had throughout the project with NO hesitation or "wow this guy is always asking something". No shortcuts at all and attention to detail was exemplary! One of the best things I have done this year was to decide on hiring Scudder Roofing for my roof replacement project! I actually started getting estimates from various companies in my area LAST year. I was very impressed with Ray V. in that he never rushed nor pushed me into signing a contract. Nor, did Ray ever sound impatient with me when I followed-up and reached out to Scudder 8 months later! Carlos Cortes was the foreman on my job. Carlos arrived EVERYDAY punctual, and with a smile on his face. Carlos works extremely hard, and did an excellent job on the carpentry work that needed to be done. I have had a zillion questions on this project, and each and every time, Carlos was courteous, respectful, and professional! Carlos definitely KNOWS what he is doing! If I could give this company a zero I would I don't believe even one star is appropriate. We had them come out to our home initially to asses the roof repair (roof leaking) give us an estimate which we felt was reasonable and hired them to find the leak and repair the roof. I paid almost $300 for them to come out and assess the roof. Then almost another $800 to make the repairs. After the repair was done it rained a few days later and the roof still leaked. When I called their office to let them know the woman who answered the phone said if we wanted to have someone come back out to look at the roof again it would cost us almost $300 to have them take a look. I was so upset!!!!!! I was like you just came out and did the check, now I have to pay an additional fee. Her response to me was I should've read the contract better!!!!!!! This by far pissed me off. Such a bad business practice and felt totally scammed by this company! This company does not guarantee their work. According to my new roofing company Scudder roofing must've sent out a rookie who did a half ass job. After spending over $1000 with Scudder Roofing and now having to call another company who actually found what Scudder did wrong not too mention they also found the source of the leak I really feel like their quality of work is not worth what I paid not too mention they didn't fix anything! When we had a question about some moisture in the skylight, they were right there with a solution. We like the fact that they do a honest job and don't resort to shortcuts or gimmicks. I had 3 appointments to get an estimate. I waited at home and was never met. Poor business practices with no consideration of my time. The first appointment was in the morning. I waited an hour. Nobody came. When I called, they said there had been an emergency and the didn't call me yet because they were thinking my appointment was in the afternoon. The second appointment, someone called on the day of the appointment, prior to the appointment, and cancelled related to an emergency. The third appointment, I called when they were an hour late. The accountant answered, didn't know anything, and said someone would call back in 5 minutes. 35 minutes later, I called again. Apparently the estimators flight the previous day had problems, so he wouldn't be at work the next day to meet me. Nobody bothered calling me to tell me. read more

After waiting weeks since our "Safety Coordinator" Frank came out to look at our house and give us a bid for copper leader heads, gutters, and downspouts, we're still waiting for a quote. We're received nothing. We've called numerous times just to get a status as to when we should expect a quote; and still nothing. We've left messages for the estimator, the owner, and the guy that came to the house, and still zippo! We called, called, and called; left messages, and you guessed - still butkis. I guess the economy is just soooo good right now; and you've got soooo much business, that a $20K job isn't even worth your effort - so excuse the hell out of me for even asking or wasting you time! All you've proven is what a crappy business you are and confirmed my choice about going to your competition. But, by all means - if you don't care about time, cost, or quality; then Scudder is just right for you! What a flaky company and total lack of customer service. TWO MONTHS LATER, received a bill for $187, when I called to question it Jennifer Scudder actually ACCUSED MY MOTHER OF LYING about what happened when her roofer showed up!! She is unsure of what to do about the bill because her guys have a different story, and ended up reducing from $187 to the $125 service call fee. Really? We hired Scudder Roofing to replace our 26 year old fiberglass shingle roof for two reasons. First, Scudder has a well deserved reputation for professional work and excellent customer satisfaction. Secondly we had a 13 year old Solar power array that had to be removed and reinstalled following our roof replacement. Many other roofers in our area claimed to do roofing and "also" would do solar. My wife and I wanted a "one stop shop" and Scudder was the obvious choice. The roof replacement and the solar power array were replaced on time and at the cost quoted to us. Permits and fees for inspections were included in the quote. The workmanship was impeccable. All of the roof and solar division folks were professional, polite, and thorough in both their communications and their workmanship. I would not hesitate to recommend Scudder to anyone who contemplating either roof or solar repairs or replacements. Sent from my iPad I had Scudder Roofing replace the roof on my home. The reason I picked Scudder Roofing was the salesperson Gabe. Gabe came by 2 or 3 times, always made an appointment and was here on time. He fallows up with any questions I had in a timely manner. I liked the fact that Scudder was a large roofing company with good insurance. The reason this was important to me was the eves were quite steep and the back side of the house was a couple stories high. Before the project started Gabe set up a meeting with the Job managers, Francisco, Abel and Israel. This meeting was to develop our expectations of the job. They made me feel part of this proses which I was not expecting. All of them were very professional and made me feel like I picked the right people to do this job. The day they said it would start, four guys showed up at my house, politely asked if they can start. I was told this Job would take two weeks and that's what it was, two weeks later. The reason I am promoting this company is for all the people I talked with during the Job. From the Sales team, to ladies at their store, from the Forman's in the field to the crew that made this happen, I talked to them all. I can say for sure that whoever is responsible for keeping the workers happy needs a pat on the back. The workers talk good about their company and in turn shows it to the customer. When the crew came to do the work I was introduced to the job foreman, crew and superintendent. They were very professional, did a great job on time, and were always pleasant! I had Scudder reroof and install residential solar. The salesman was excellent. The coordination and execution was mediocre. The roofing and solar are two separate divisions that don't seem to communicate well with each other and neither with my general contractor so the project did not start on time and took longer than ideal. My 17 year old roof was installed incorrectly and not vented. Consequently, it started rotting and caving in. I met with 4 roof contractors to get information and obtain bids. Scudder by far was the most helpful. While they weren't the least expensive, I feel like I got what I paid for. The job foreman was very professional, they did what they said they would do, on time and were very sensitive to keeping the site clean and not bothering my neighbors. Great Job! read more
