As someone who doesn't drive, Dormzy sounds like a really, really awesome idea. When I first heard of it, I immediately thought this could turn a page for me. I haven't bought more than $40 worth of groceries in four years probably. That's about all you can carry on a bike, I suppose. Anyway, I guess some things are better left to a grocery store. See, I wasn't able to place an order with Dormzy because they're out of stock of pretty much every food item they carry. Well, everything my diet allows anyway. That's just not going to cut it for a food business. Why would I wait for you to restock when I can just do it the old fashioned way? Take a look for yourself; I'm not exaggerating. I purchased a groupon to check out dormzy last year. I waited awhile before ordering but when I would visit the site to try to order I found that most items were out of stock. I'd come back every few days to find the same. One day they had 20 items showcased on their shopping home page and only 7 of the 20 were available. I went by their 2-3 day shipping and ads stating "it's easy, it's quick". Well first... there is nothing quick about their website. Browsing items is painful and time consuming. especially when none are in stock. when I found the site fairly well stocked, I finally ordered late 3/8/11 knowing the order would not be processed until the next day. I ordered with an out of town weekend in mind, purchasing snack bars, candy, chips and such for the road trip and hotel stay. Items I generally would not purchase on the daily. We wouldn't be leaving until dawn 3/18 so ample time for arrival. on 3/15 I realize... "where's dormzy?" I check my online order status... "awaiting shipping" WHAT??? will it even be here for the trip?? I emailed them... and received a prompt reply that they had switched shipping methods this week... blah blah blah... welllll ok, but... no email? and I ordered LAST week, not this week. the email said they'd ship by weeks end. ACK!! I called them... explained that I ordered based on their advertised shipping times and ordered a bunch of junk food specifically for the weekend it's about to not arrive for. the guy was super nice and said he'd ship it Wednesday to arrive Thursday. and it did arrive today... short a few items that were "out of stock" after I had ordered (surprise) and although I never received any kind of "your order has shipped" email tracking, they did email that they credited my dormzy account for the missing items. all in all... it's a terrific idea in theory but the availability and timing wasn't something that makes me want to order again. I will NOT be giving this place any more of my $$ again. I did one order for $49 to get the free shipping, and it stated that most orders ship between 1-3 days. A MONTH later and TWO phone calls trying to find out why I did not get my order yet they FINALLY shipped it (I'm currently still waiting for it). I even had to ask if they were some sort of scam because of all the hassle to get my items then was laughed at and told they were not a scam. I had to point out that I gave them $$ and still had no product. They apologized then located my items and said it would be shipped, then gave me $49 store credit (it will have free shipping) to compensate for the run around and issues. This web site seems to be out of stock of most items but will use the credit on stuff I do not need right away and see if they ever get around to delivering it this time. I've been trying to use my Groupon since early December and they are always OUT OF STOCK on almost everything! Emails to customer service don't help, no reply to several emails. Just hoping I can find SOMETHING in stock before my son is out of school for the term. Never again. read more

Got 2 groupons for Dormzy. One worked fine-- yes, overpriced and yes, out of stock of almost everything, but it was for someone who didn't care about food (could live off poptarts and ramen and be happy). Tried to use my second groupon to send to someone deployed and while many companies will send for free to FPO/AE addresses, this one charges an additional 15 dollars for handling (with a 50 dollar groupon, I would have free shipping anyway so while they may do free shipping to fpo ae, you can't avoid the 15 dollar handling fee) read more

My dad's girlfriend created a box to be sent to me from Dormzy and at first I had no idea what to expect. I received the box within a day or two and when I opened the box I was super surprised. I started pulling all this food out and it seemed like the box was never ending. I was shocked on the food selection too, all the brands were the same the brands I would have bought it I would have gone to the local grocery store myself. Everything was in great condition, I have several bags of chips and nothing was crumbled or broke at all. Plus the free shipping with any order over 50 dollars was great!!! read more

I agree! I have yet to order with this company because for nearly 2 months the items I want are out of stock. How long does it take to stock a couple of popular items?? I can understand, perhaps, some unusual foreign food, but dog food and cheeze nip??? Please! I'll just go to the grocery store and NOT recommend this company. read more

False Marketing placed an order on the 1st....its the 19th and still nothing yet they say shipping is 2-3 days. Out of stock on everything. My friend ordered paper towels through them and they came unpackaged loose in the box...that is gross. When she told them about it in an email they didnt even comment. I would not even give them one star if I had the choice. Nothing was in stock. I had a Groupon that I had to use up and kept checking and checking for their store to get items in,. It took me nearly 45 mintues to just find enough items to use up my 50.00 Groupon. The prices are much higher than the grocery stores and they carry some generics but charge brand name prices for them. Not a happy camper and won't be back. Stick with Amazon! read more

I tried this for my daughter at school and it was a nightmare. First of all how do i know what my child wants to eat, that is why I pay for a dinning hall pass just like 100% of all parents do for their child in their first and/or second year of college. I would rather give them $50 for something other than MORE food, especially when it takes 2 days to get to them. Dinning hall serves great food, that is hot and ready to eat. Sending a "Care package" to my child with potato chips, soup, pop, etc isnt ideal in my mind. Anyway the package got there and was delivered, damaged, and not worth the hassle with the shipping costs involved. I was very displeased and won't be using this scam of a company again.
