Wine selection

Really good beer selection. Stuff you do not normally see in a regular supermarket. I looked at the previous reviews and have to base this on my experience; which was very good. I was really looking for empanadas but they were not in stock. The manager came out and explained that situation and asked if there was anything else he can get for me. The staff at checkout were also kind and accommodating. Store was clean and parking was very easy. I'm a Kroger guy and the items here are a level above that. This is a place I would go back to for more items.; especially outside of normal my grocery list.

So, The Hills Market sells the best oatmeal cookies in town--and you'll find them right next to the meat counter. Yep, it's weird but deliciously weird. The staff? Super knowledgeable. One of them guided me to a local whiskey and gave me a crash course on OHLQ business. I felt like I was getting a whiskey degree. Sales? Found some great ones! The place is packed with unique local items (State of Ohio ballcaps, Carfagna's sauces, cookies, Whiskey from Gahanna), that make shopping a mini adventure. Would I return? Absolutely, if only for the cookies and the chance to learn something new about whiskey!

Awesome employees!! Helpful, kind, caring and they truly take care about those in the community. The store has great high quality food products that are super fresh, the service is outstanding, whatever you need, they are happy to accommodate. In Addition, the store has events on their veranda from wine tastings to pizza, brats and burgers, and once a week they reserve their veranda for charitable causes. They participate in neighborhood parades, and are a jewel in the Worthington Hills community. Thank you Mark, Matt, Kyle, Susan, Bruce, Jan, Janie and the entire staff for all your hard work!!

I came to this place when I found out that they sold chocolate babka from Cinnaswirl Bakery. This is a locally owned grocery store. They seem to have a good collection wine. We went around the store to find the Babka and was looking around to see what they have. Everything seemed to be overpriced. There are items that you just don't see in your regular supermarket but things that you can find in supermarkets like Kroger are overpriced in The Hills Market. There is a deli section and a bakery section, and both section had decent collection of items but again, overpriced. Unless I am looking for something that is being exclusively sold at The Hills Market, I just don't see myself coming and shopping here with everything overpriced.

You know when you go somewhere and you just do not like the vibe? That is how I felt here. Staff and patrons were unfriendly. Guy working at the deli counter was loudly talking to a co-worker about how something tasted like (insert profanity word here). It was very off putting. Extra star for excellent and diverse variety of gluten free items.

I used to like this a lot. It's been overtaken by the glut of organic and specialty stores opening. The Hills Market is a locally owned store. It has a lot of locally made items. These often are way overpriced and can be found in most other stores. Even though it's not big it still has lots of harder to find items. It used to be like it had several flavors of one brand you couldn't often find in another store. The pop and ice cream sections are good examples of this. It also has a deli. There's a salad bar and a counter where they make things like sandwiches. It would be one of my favorite places to go when I'm in Columbus. The reason it's not is because of the high prices. Awhile ago it was hard to find some items and you would go here or to a specialty store like it. These items are now easily found in big chains, with better prices. I still come here to support a local business and because the employees are helpful. It has a few sales prices on things like wines and produce. Those are the best sections to look through.

Good but not amazing. Tasted like homemade white bread.

Local, friendly, well stocked but with gas station convenience prices. I love this little grocery store and all it has Tom offer but with 2 major grocery stores that are about 8 min away I can't see paying gas station convenience store prices. They have a great selection of wine, a nice deli and cheese counter as well as local products and National name brand products. We purchased some cheese bread from the Buckeye bread Company. The bread looked really good but when we got home and cut into the bread it was basically white bread with a little bit of cheese sprinkled on the top. The bread tasted homemade but there was nothing special about it.

This is a great place to find local food options. Many are labeled on the shelf, although not all Ohio companies were, we noticed. I do think the goods are a bit expensive here. We really enjoyed the Crispery Crispycakes we picked up! They were soft and gooey like a fresh made rice krispy treat.

Wine tasting

I visited The Hills with some friends for one of their wine tastings (10 for $20) and picked up some interesting items along the way. First, the wine tasting - nice event, decent price. There were 10 wines for $20. It wasn't well advertised that you could purchase a half card, or 5 wines for $10, which was the option that most of my group had wanted. There was a nice selection of reds and whites (I think 30 total) set up through the store. The event ran from 6 - 9 PM. It was very crowded early on, but thinned out towards the end. I'd probably go later the next time. They advertised "light snacks" and set up a little buffet near the deli with cheese, crackers, olive mix, some pasta salads, etc. They refilled the buffet at least 3 or 4 times, which was a really nice surprise. Some tastings, you just kind of get what's out and it's not refreshed. It was very crowded. There weren't necessarily a ridiculous number of people, but like Whole Foods and Giant Eagle, the tasting is spread through the store, and it's not really set up for lingering. There were lines at the tables and clumps of people hanging out in the aisles. The grocery prices are high (comparable to Whole Foods), but I also wouldn't plan to go the the specialty market to do a big shop. Just plan appropriately. They have a great cheese selection, really nice looking produce, and lots of food and products from local producers. I picked up a slice of sprinkle cake from the bakery, some large clementines, kale, and a bottle of mead from a local meadery that I've been wanting to try.

Why did they have to put this so close to the door!?! Can't not buy one for my bath tonight.

For those of us who are in Michigan that have Plum Markets, we know what a gourmet market should and shouldn't have. While about half the size, it hits all the marks well. Quality local brands, good wine selection, fresh meat and fish counters, and in house bakery; with only the fresh hot food missing. I stopped in to get a few items since I was in a motel for the night that didn't have free breakfast - yes, those do exist. Got some fruit and a gourmet donut. Picked up a few other things that spoke to me like cantaloupe milk bath salts and fancy rice crispy square. Found jelly beans that are jumbo sized and they found their way into the cart. Got some diet Coke since they didn't carry diet Rice. Why only 4 stars, it was that donut. It was not editable in the morning. So dry that the ground in Death Valley would more moisture. The icing could even save it. It was $3, and I hate to waste money even more than EBS did, but it hit the trash can after 4 bites. The donut I got at Speedway that costs half the price was a 1000 times better . I will say that the mandarins I got at 60¢ each was the best I ever had and worth the price. Whole Foods should ask them were they got them. If I am back in the area, I will stop again. Service was wonderful.

Chateau Wine and Spirits to the rescue! But for real. It was Thanksgiving afternoon and my family…read moresuddenly had a craving for a cocktail. Unfortunately, we didn't have any of the ingredients needed to make it fun, if you know what I mean. We searched Yelp and found this spot rather close by. We decided to give it a try and were stoked to find that they were open... and busy at that. They had a great inventory of wine, liquor, beer, etc. and had exactly what we needed, prosecco, schnapps, vodka and fruit puree. I'll also add that despite how busy they were, the staff was great. They helped us find what we were looking for while we wandering around aimlessly trying to find the goods. Prices were right on money, too. I don't live in the area, but my sister does, and I have no doubt we'll be back when need be. #grateful

They have a good selection of stuff (I am a bourbon and cocktail person) but nothing amazing. What really frustrated me was around payment. They charge a fee if you use a card: their prices are the same as other stores who do not charge a fee to use a card. Anyways, I used a debit card and found out, after, I was charged a fee. They did offer to refund my charge and I could pay with cash but I did not have enough cash on me. In my experience, this is the ONLY store I have EVER been charged a fee for using a debit card or credit card. It just feels greedy.

Fair warning: I come into this review with some bias as Im not a Kroger fan, but this store is…read moreright across from my mothers home so its her go to spot and she wants me to go "here". So I will at least try to not be biased. Their parking lot...- nightmare. I know, I know... but Im being 100% truthful. It has a weird traffic pattern. People zoom around in it. As if thats not enough to deter me from coming here regularly....The spots are narrow, the traffic lanes are also narrow. My biggest objection: half of it is on an incline (poor grading of a grocery parking lot) why donInsay poor? Well, carts roll around down the incline and cars gets dinged. My car has been dinged here from carts and doors when I dont park far far away. Tip: park closer to the mall and walk a bit further... as strangely that part of the center doesn't use carts and some reason they made it nice and level. Go figure. So weird. The store itself... a typical Kroger. This store: Their tea assortment is limited. Seasonal aisle also limited. Their produce is nice, meat/seafood department was just setting up around 9 so we didnt wait to shop it. (Giant Eagles is set up way before 9 btw) My mom went thru full service to check out. I choose self... which I thought would speed things up. Nope. Their self checkout isnt as user friendly as their competition. It took three calls to the attendant to finish the scanning. The attendant, tho pleasant enough still made me feel kind of "judged" by needing her help 3x's. So there was that. The lady bagging her groceries next to me goes. "Psst, I think this self scanning is difficult too and often think "why didnt I go to the cashier"". Me: exactly!!! Im just not a fan. Im the sole care giver for my mother. Time is valuable to me. However avoiding stress is even more valuable. I get stressed at this store. Even though this is right across the street, I think I will drive up or down the road to the competition as shopping at either location is just so much easier than being at this Kroger and dealing with the lot and the self scanner. Jmo.

When I walked back, nothing was put out. Finally someone was up at the counter for me to ask when they'd be open and they said between 12-1. That just seems insanely ridiculous.
