Dr. Dorne has set a new standard as my OB/GYN that will be hard to beat. I feel comfortable with Dr. Dorne and I completely trust her medical evaluations. For exams, she works fast which at first impression I thought was rough but then I realized how methodical she was about it and it was over fast. I don't feel so apprehensive about exams anymore because I know she's quick and accurate. She tells it how it is, no dancing around the subject of the matter, not withholding any possibilities even if it's not "what you want to hear." She shares what is relevant, puts your health and interests first, does not care about the rest (meaning, no judgments). I know some people don't want to be scared by hearing what could be/go wrong, but I don't go to a doctor for sugar coating, I'm there for honesty and that's what she serves. It took 6 weeks for dr dorne to get back to me. once she finally called, she was very rude over the phone and got defensive when I asked questions. She did not apologize about getting back to me 6 weeks later and just kept giving excuses. She told me that I had really no options for my care and said I needed to make a decision. She said she could not guide me or recommend any options for me. I have never experienced a doctor so unhelpful and rude. read more

Wow, what an amazing physician! Dr. Dorne delivered my baby vaginally against all odds. I have a medical condition which typically makes vaginal delivery very very difficult and that most OBGYNs would not hesitate to schedule a c/section for. She worked with me, was very patient and very respectful of my wishes. I cannot begin to describe how patient she was with me! I am really surprised at the negative reviews for Dr. Dorne (and the fact that all the positive reviews are not recommended). When I started a new job a few years ago and had to select a new doctor, I asked around and a friend told me she had been seeing Dr. Dorne since she was a teenager and loved her. She warned me that Dr. Dorne is super laid back and I'm glad she did! When I had my first appointment with her, she was wearing a hoodie and jeans. But her laid back attitude really worked for me. It made me feel totally at ease and comfortable voicing my concerns. I also feel very comfortable with the nurses and other staff. Do you have to spend some time in the waiting room? Of course. It's the doctor's office. Some days are always going to be worse than others no matter where you go. read more

This is a great doctor! I've been her patient since my teenage years and never regretted my decision. She has also took care of me through my pregnancy and delivered my baby. As far as the wait times go - you have to understand that this doctor delivers babies as well, and deals with pregnant moms / pregnancy emergencies, and deals with daily appointments every day. I don't mind waiting, because I had emergencies during my 9 months as well that made other patients wait. Any time there are kids involved there will always be wait times. As a continuation of my initial review, I decided on a second opinion; I'm a 60-year-old post-menopausal gal who's been experiencing some spotting, so I jumped on it ASAP with my family practice doctor in RF who recommended me to Dr. Dorne. Her attempts at an endometrial biopsy were quickly abandoned and she set me up real fast for a D&C. So I sat on this for a while, consulted with my family doc (who has since retired) and decided to go for a second opinion. I also wanted to move my medical stuff closer to home just to make things more convenient for all. So I go in for a consult to a new gynie, give her the scoop on my uncooperative cervix and she decides to take a swing at it. Bang. She's in, collects the tissue sample and that's all she wrote. All in 15 minutes. Obviously she's 'the cervix whisperer' or something. Got the results back and all is normal. The spotting is something to watch but as for right now, no D&C, no hospital procedure, no drama. So what I geared up for was an outpatient procedure and a recuperation period, but all for naught. Lesson learned; don't rush into a procedure, and second opinions are the way to go if you feel things at the first doc appointment just aren't quite right. read more

If this is the same Pamela Dorne in Hinsdale and Oak Park, stay away from her. She's a b#tch. No type of proper communication. She sat on my test results for nearly two weeks and I had a bad reaction to some soap. Do you know how uncomfortable I was for those three weeks...She didn't care. Then, I went in for a biopsy. When she finally called with those results. She wanted to do a consultation with another doctor and said she would call me back. SHE NEVER CALLED BACK. I then went in for my follow-up and she made a smart ass remark to me because I was over due for it. Umm she was supposed to call me back after her consultation. I was waiting on her to do her job. I was almost out of my medication. The very medication that was keeping me from getting endometrial cancer. I went in to get refill or put on new meds. She, once again was unprepared. She said she was going to call the pharmacy to see how to ween me off. She Never called me back. I called and called..she knew I had about a week left. So she never refilled or put in new meds. I ended up coming off of a medication cold. Mind you this was a CANCER DRUG. She finally calls back with a typical smart mouth saying we don't work the same schedules. She is just ignorant and rude af. read more

I took off work and drove 25 minutes, to see the Dr, she was running way behind, I informed the staff, the Dr needs to call patients when she is running way behind. If you care about your wait time, go see another Dr. Another patient in the waiting room, said she was waiting a long time and her appt was before me. This behavior is unacceptable to me. While Dr. Dorne may not make a lot of "small talk" that should actually be viewed as a positive. She get's in and get's her job done. She is extremely thorough and knows her stuff. She was my gyno when I got very sick in high school. I had ridiculously painful periods that they couldn't diagnose, even after a laparoscopy to check for endometriosis. Her bedside manner was repulsive, and she even hinted that I was faking! The nurses and receptionists in her office are great, but she herself needs a class or 12 about how to talk to people. read more

I cant thank dr dorne enough for her kindness and generosity. I had moved to US when i was 31 weeks pregnant and i was really worried about finding a good OB. A very rude and inconsiderate OB named 'Dr Naheed akhter' had openly refused to take my case that too on phone. She didn't even bother to see my reports or give me a appointment to visit her clinic. So me and my husband got really worried. Then we found dr Dorne and i cant thank God enough that i found her. She is the most humble and caring dr i have ever met. Her staff is just like her. Super sweet and friendly. I will never forget how she helped me during delivery and she did her best to deliver the baby normally. She doesn't jump to C sections straight away. She saved my life. Found a lump in my breast that was biopsied that I found out was breast cancer. I ended up having four tumors. If she hadn't caught it, who knows where I'd be now. Not sure how you review a doctor (certainly not low just because she expects to be paid). You pick a doctor to keep you healthy and alive. Dr Dorne is smart and thorough. That's what you want. Besides, I think she has a great patient-doctor relationship and has always been warm to me. I've seen her for over 12 years now. read more

Under the circumstances, SO APPRECIATED, the staff, and Dr. P Dorne for all the comfort and assistance I needed immediate care, and even an ER visit, of course on doctor's day off. She never spent more than 2 seconds with me in any appt--- I couldn't even formulate my questions quickly enough before she was out the door. She also wanted to induce me even though I wasn't at my due date yet because I was due around Thanksgiving and it was going to be inconvenient for her if I just went into labor naturally. I am surprised with the negative posts regarding Dr. Dorne, because I love her. She has delivered all 3 of my babies and we have never had any issues with her. During one of my deliveries we experienced some complications and her control over the situation only enhanced my admiration for her skill. Although you occasionally have to wait, it is always due to an emergency...remember she cannot control when her patients go into labor :) Her attention to patients is not selective, she would give the same attention to anyone who came in with an emergency...not sure what else you could ask for from a doctor. I have moved an hour North from her office and still drive the distance to see her, because in my opinion she is well worth the trip. read more

I'm also surprised at the vehemence, as well as the personal nature of the negative reviews here, and I felt compelled to go on the record to share something positive about our experience. I can see how a first impression might be underwhelming. She's very low-key and if it's your first pregnancy I can see how you might come in expecting more hoopla, but personally--I think I'd feel weird to feel overly fussed over and I would rather deal with someone who feels real. I think that's exactly the kind of person you'd want around come delivery time. I find her calm, quiet and direct manner very soothing. I'm a worrier when it comes to medical things and I've had the most remarkably stress-free pregnancy overall. I know she won't just tell me something I want to hear and will be a straight dealer but not be alarmist, which makes me trust her, and being able to have that kind of trust is really important. It's really kept us from overthinking things and freaking out about the small stuff, and she always, always answers all of our questions. I've never gotten an unfriendly vibe from her I was only kept waiting at one of my appointments (and it was right after she came back from an out of town trip so of course the office would be full of people trying to see her when she came back)--- so all the horror stories about the wait are baffling to me. Maybe we've just been lucky. I would have expected this to happen more just with the territory--after all, I imagine it has to be tough with small ob-gyn offices like this one, when you're scheduling around a lot of pregnancies where everyone has priority and everything seems pressing and they're trying to work things around deliveries, etc. We're a pretty demanding lot and I imagine the schedule gymnastics behind the scenes must be trying sometimes, but as I've said--I've never borne any ill results and when we've had to change things they've been very understanding and helpful The office staff is probably the friendliest that I've ever encountered. I have been a patient of Pamela Dorne for 27 years. She delivered my daughter over 26 years ago. I wouldn't go to another gyn/ob physician. She has always been very kind and I feel very comfortable going to her. I have referred friends to her and they are also very happy with her as their physician. She is thorough and takes her time with her patients. At times I have to wait also, but no matter where I go I have to wait. People need to be patient and understand that there are always going to be unexpected delays when you go to a physician that delivers babies. DO NOT go to this doctor. She was supposed to remove my fibroids. I was still bleeding heavyly after the procedure, so I went to another doctor. She ordered another ultrasound, and the fibroids were in the same place. Do Not trust the doctor!!!!!!!!! read more
