This was the first time I had visited TRE to meet my new OB-Gyny. Actually, the appointment began 3 weeks prior when I attempted to move my records from my previous MD to this office. What a hassle! However, the TRE reception staff were amazingly helpful. Mary Ann Stephens was especially helpful. After several phone call attempts that ended in failure, Mary Ann offered to walk down to the other office and speak with them personally. Wow! That kind of customer service doesn't happen much any more. My appointment was "old school". We chatted and got acquainted before I undressed for the comprehensive physical. I had a list of questions that I had been saving for my annual appointment. Dr. Kim answered the ones that applied to her expertise and at no point did I feel rushed. Dr. Kim was knowledgeable and patient, pointing out a couple of lifestyle changes I should make, along with discussing her specialty area. I have no idea why I had not heard about Dr. Kim and her staff prior to this, but this is truly a wonderful medical office. read more

I chose this practice to deliver my daughter and I could not be happier. My experience from day one with them has been awesome. All of the doctors are very nice, caring and comforting. I was a little apprehensive about a male doctor, but he is such a nice guy! Dr. Weldon delivered my precious little one and she was amazing! I ended up having a c-section and I've heard some horror stories regarding them. Thank God Dr. Weldon is amazing at her job and she did a phenomenal job and I am healing extremely well. If you are pregnant and looking for an OB Tre is a great place to start. The entire staff is super friendly and nice. I love the nurses. They're all so friendly and caring. They gave me a bunch of samples for my little which was greatly appreciated! read more

Dr. Virginia Kelly was amazing. I went to see her as a second opinion on major issues that I had been having. It was unlike any other Dr. apt I've had. She talked with me for almost a whole entire hour. She sat down and told me to tell me every detail about my medical history since I was young. She didn't rush me, and she intently listened and kept asking questions. She then explained extremely thoroughly why I was having my issues, and explained how certain medications/health problems from my past all intertwined and correlated with the issues I had been experiencing the last year. I couldn't believe that after a year of worrying/not getting detailed explanations from doctors- or really any help at all.. that it only took one visit with Dr. Kelly to understand what was all going on! I would highly recommend her if you are seeking a doctor who seems to genuinely care and give you detailed explanations. read more

What a wonderful experience I had with this group. Two months before I was due, I moved from the city out to the 'burbs and it was recommended that I come here. There are 4 doctors, and I have met all of them. My favorite is Dr. James (Jim) Jenks, which surprised me because I thought I would never be comfortable with a male OB/GYN. He delivered my son and put me at ease with the whole process since I was a first-time mother. I would describe his personality as a great balance of very knowledgeable and down-to-earth. I would also say the two female doctors are very friendly and knowledgeable. (Dr. Gloria Kim and Dr. Virginia Kelly). Dr. Robert Lawler is as well, but I might add that he is a devout Catholic and as such does not prescribe birth control, if that is important you. Perhaps I found him a little too easy-breezy and nonchalant for something as important as delivering my first child, but by all means he seems to be a great doctor, too. The front desk staff and nurses are pleasant and willing to help. Can't say enough good things about this group on the whole and I hope you have as good as an experience as I did! read more

The office staff, and medical staff are friendly people. Despite this, things made me uncomfortable so I switched to a different doctor. 10th week of pregnancy your embryo becomes a fetus. I mentioned to Dr. Kim that I found that exciting, and she wasn't sure what I was talking about. Said she thought that wasn't maybe until 12 or 13 weeks. I wasn't going to argue, I just smiled and nodded... But I'd be lying if I didn't say that it made me uncomfortable she didn't just know that off the top of her head. I have PPO insurance, and found this doctor on my insurance website. I purposely sought a doctor from my insurance website in the hopes that the process of getting everything covered would go smoother that way. I was wrong. I was at a point in my pregnancy where it was time to get a genetic test done. This test requires pre-authorization from my insurance. Normally the doctor's office would take care of that. This office said that "they don't really deal with that". that I would have to go through the lab that does the tests for prior authorization with my insurance, not them. I contacted the lab, and scanned and faxed all the information they asked for to start the process of prior authorization as this doctor's office had told me to do. Otherwise they told me it would "only" be around $350 out of pocket. No thanks. That's why I have insurance. The lab sent me an email within a day saying that my prior authorization had been resolved. A week went by, and I heard nothing else so I gave them a call. Nobody had any idea what I was talking about, and the very lady who emailed me saying she resolved the issue did not realize she was the one who emailed me.... Yes you read that right.. she was that confused. These people were pretty lazy. Anyway there is more, like I was put on hold multiple times for simple questions such as "fine, how much would it cost if I just went in, and got the test, and paid for it without worrying about insurance" because I was that sick of dealing with all the phone calls and being put on hold excetera excetera being transferred excetera excetera.... they did not know the cost of their own test, and had to put me on hold again. they also informed me at some point that they don't actually deal with my insurance. That I have the one type of insurance that requires the doctor's office do the prior authorization. it would have been really nice if the doctor's office had already known that before sending me on a wild-goose chase with the lab, who never got back to me. So I called the doctor's office back yet again, to yet again ask them to start prior authorization so I could go get the test already! they once again trief to redirect me back to the lab!! So I told them no, the lab said the doctor's office has to do prior authorization for my insurance (UHC), that it's the one type of insurance the lab doesn't deal with. I said if the lab says they're not going to do the prior authorization because you guys do it, and you guys are telling me that you're not going to do authorization cuz the lab does it... Then who will do my prior authorization for me? Nobody? So then the staff member said ok, in that case I'm going to have to put you over to the nurse. I told her I don't need the nurse, this is a billing question not a medical question, and she told me that the nurse is who handles that... What the........ So the nurse picks the phone up and tries to tell me that the lab needs to do the prior authorization. I once again insisted that she would actually have to do the prior authorization cuz the lab specifically told me that United health insurance is the one insurance that they don't do prior authorization for and that the doctor's office has to do it. so then she said okay well then that means I have to call them and let them know. .... In other words, it would have been really nice if they had already known which insurance they work with, and which insurance they don't work with. it seems like they just didn't want the extra work, and therefore I was put through a three ring circus of phone calls, and being on hold, and extra stress for a week simply because their office had no idea what they were doing. This office might want to consider hiring someone who "deals with that stuff" so at the very least they can remember what insurance THEY have to work with, for the convenience of their patients. the nurse told me that she would have to be the one to make a phone call or two to see what's going on. so I then asked her, "okay does this mean that you are going to start the process for prior authorization then?" She seemed a little annoyed by that question, and responded that she had a few things to do first, but that once she was able to get to it she would. Yep yep! I decided there was no way I wasn't going to switch to a different doctors office. Now I'm just waiting to see how long it takes them to transfer my records over to my new doctor.... read more

I called as a new patient to make an appointment, and the person on the phone was not very nice and made me feel uncomfortable. I went somewhere else because I feel if that is how I am treated right off the bat, it's not going to be good. read more

The doctors and staff are amazing! I was extremely anxious throughout my pregnancy due to a prior loss and everyone was caring and understanding. They never acted annoyed if I would call with crazy questions or concerns and always answered promptly. The doctors take the time to sit and talk with you, everyone was great! read more

What a wonderful experience I had with this group during my first pregnancy. I saw three of the four doctors (Dr. Jennifer Balash, Dr. Gloria Kim and Dr. Jim Jenks) throughout my pregnancy and delivery, but mainly interacted with Dr. Balash. She was the doctor that not only delivered my daughter, but also caught that my daughter was breech early enough in the pregnancy and provided me with many options to try to flip my daughter into the correct position prior to labor and delivery. All the doctors were very helpful in answering any questions I had and the staff at the office was always very friendly. The nurses were amazing during delivery and worked extremely well with the doctors. Everything went so smoothly that it made the whole experience a great one. I would highly recommend this group of doctors for any OB/GYN need! read more

I have been going to these doctors since 1994, when I was pregnant with my first child. I am currently 5 months pregnant with my fourth (due Halloween 2011), and, while I have several doctors and hospitals closer to my home, I am so happy with TRE that I will gladly drive the extra distance. Dr. Lawler delivered my daughters in 1994 & in 2008, and I have seen (primarily) him for all 4 pregnancies, but Dr. Jenks delivered my son in 1998, as Dr. Lawler was unavailable the day I went into labor. Dr. Lawler also gave my husband and I incredible support and helpful information when we suffered through a miscarriage in 2010. I have seen Dr. Kelly and Dr. Kim (female docs) for OB and GYN appointments, and both are kind, knowledgeable, and helpful as well. As mentioned in the previous review, Dr. Lawler is a devout Catholic, therefore he does not prescribe birth control. I will be having a tubal ligation after this baby, and he will be performing the c-section, but will have one of the other doctors there to do the tubal. He is not judgmental about my own use of birth control or sterilization, he just refers me to one of his associates because it is not a part of his own religious beliefs. I actually respect that greatly. I will continue to go to these doctors for my OB appointments after this baby is born, because I cannot say enough good things about them and highly recommend them to anyone looking for an OB/GYN doctor. read more

I am surprised by the reviews on this page regarding this practice! I have had an absolutely horrible experience with Tre Medical as a whole. I have primarily seen Dr. Kim and Dr. Kelly but everything from the wait times, to the receptionists, to the nurses to the bedside manner of the doctors has been appalling. I am now in my third trimester and feel like I have no choice but to switch practices, which is obviously scary and not something that any pregnant woman would want to do at this point. I usually come to my appointments straight from work and often have to go back to work following my appointments. Based on the proximity from my work to the office you wouldn't think that it would take too long to be there and back but I don't think I have been able to do so in less than 2.5 hours even once over the last 6 or 7 months. I rarely have a wait time that is less than an hour (just to be called back to then wait more). In addition, the receptionists both in person and over the phone have been short and rude with me, and also have had me wait for up to 10-15 min. (on hold) before addressing my concerns/getting back to me. To add insult to injury, when I have been sitting in the office waiting to be called back I have heard the receptionists take calls, put the caller on hold and then proceed to make fun of, complain about the individual on hold, which has definitely not been a good thing to hear as a patient! Makes me want to never call in for anything. The doctors themselves are I am sure medically competent, but Dr. Kim in particular was a horrible doctor to work with. She was initially my primary for months; never took the time to listen to my concerns, or even look at me for that matter when asking me questions (she would just type on and stare at her laptop/back facing me). When I would raise a concern she would blow it off time and time again. I never felt like she heard me out or took my concerns seriously. After I wound up in the hospital due to complications, and in my opinion, issues that were never addressed previously/when they should have been, I switched my primary over to Dr. Kelly. I was hopeful and wanted to try all that I could within the practice before opting to leave. While I will say that Dr. Kelly does have better bedside manner than Dr. Kim, she alone doesn't make up for all of the other issues that this office has (wait times, receptionists, nurses and so on). I do feel like Dr. Kelly has heard me out some and has taken my concerns more seriously but I still feel like I am settling with her. In addition, since this is a medical group, there is a chance that Dr. Kim could still wind up delivering my baby (dependent on who is on call at the time I go in to labor) which is a chance I won't take, considering how she has been with me over the last several months. Overall, this office has been very disappointing to me, despite being highly recommended by a friend. I guess everyone has different perspectives and experiences, but for me, this practice has been nothing positive, and has actually caused me a great deal of stress during a time that I should be enjoying! read more

After researching ob gyns in the area, I chose TRE Medical as the practice to deliver my child. I was really nervous because I had a horrible experience with the ob gyn from my first child. All of the doctors here give you their time and really work with you to understand your concerns and fears. The nurses are excellent as well. Although I saw Dr. Jenks for my 20 wk appt, I preferred to deliver with a female dr for religious reasons. The practice said they would do their best to accommodate this and they were able to. I should say though that Dr. Jenks is a great doctor and was really thorough during the appt, going through each item with us to show how the baby was developing. Dr. Balash and Dr. Kelly also helped me with different concerns, including referring me to physical therapy to help recover from my first episiotomy, helping me through horrible morning sickness and giving guidance about continuing the HIIT exercise classes I was taking before and during pregnancy. I especially have to say, Dr. Kim is amazing. She knew how nervous I was after having an episiotomy the first time and really allayed my fears and went through the possibilities this time. Although a lot of things aren't in your hands during labor, she guided me and I had a very easy labor and delivery. My recovery couldn't have gone smoother. I would recommend this practice to anyone. read more

I used this medical group for my first pregnancy based off of a recommendation by a family member that works at Good Sam Hospital. This office is fantastic! When I had to quit my job early in my pregnancy and lost my private insurance they were very accomodating with accepting the state funded insurance I enrolled in. I saw Dr.'s Lawler, Jenks, and Kelly throughout my pregnancy and was impressed by all 3. When the big day came (my due date was the day I actually gave birth, so they did a good job with their estimate!) I had Dr. Jenks as my attending physican and I couldn't have been happier. His bedside manner was very soothing even as the fetal monitor lost the baby's hearthbeat and a neonatal specialist had to be called in. He stayed cool, calm, and collected and kept me from panicking in all the confusion. Five minutes of pushing and we had our beautiful angel welcomed into the world. I have been seeing him exclusively since for exams and birth control and if we are blessed to have a second child I plan to stay with him throughout the whole process. read more
