I was served burnt to a crisp fish tacos here today. I took a bite because I was in shock, and it was pure charcoal, not edible. If you look at my photo, fish tacos (like other photos of it here) is supposed to be a golden yellow color, not look like a brown turd. I've never had burnt food served to me before at a restaurant, so that was very disappointing. Quality control must not be great here. Additionally, before this I had noticed the menu was confusing. The lunch taco combo is written out confusingly (missing a comma) so that you think you will be getting tacos and a burrito or quesadilla, when it's one of the three. Also only their most simple tacos were included in that combo, not clear on the menu. Needs to be rewritten for clarity. They replaced my burnt Fish Taco with Birria Tacos instead when I asked but still had us pay for our food the same (didn't make my part of the order free). The Birria tacos were perfectly good though and they did replace my food, so it's 2 stars, even though I won't be coming here again and don't recommend it. read more

We stopped in for a quick dinner, and were seated pretty much instantly in a nice window seat. It's a pretty small dining area with just shy of a dozen tables, but really cozy. The server came over and got us set up with some chips and salsa while we looked through the menu. The salsa was great with the chips, and with the entrees later. I went with a chicken quesadilla platter. It came out with a side of rice and beans, guacamole, and sour cream. On a quiet July 4th weekend, we were in the mood for margaritas and Mexican food, so we decided to visit Dos Gringos. It had been a while since we were there last. One thing I love about Dos Gringos is that they're byob. We brought our own quality tequila, and they had a choice of 4 mixes served in a pitcher which made it easy to add the tequila. We went with the traditional lime with salted rims. We also loved the unlimited chips and salsa and appreciated that there were a few varieties of salsa. Our window seat was comfortable, and we couldn't have asked for better service as our chips were refilled a few times. For dinner, my daughter and I ordered the quesadilla platter. Ours were very similar except I ordered the shrimp quesadillas, and she went with the traditional pork. There were 3 large portions. My husband ordered the chicken enchiladas. The food was just ok. I would just say it's average (3 stars). I had the enchiladas in their verde sauce, some chips with gaucemole, and hubby had their burrito. The gaucemole was very bland and needed salt, however the chips were delicious. You can tell they were fresh. Enchiladas were standard. Didn't have enough meat in it, but the flavoring was there. The reason for the bump down? I saw a server drop a pair of utensils when setting up tables and picked it back up and placed it on the table. Ewww wth! Will I be back? Probably not. I concur with the reviews that called it hit or miss. Enchiladas are made with flour tortillas which made them a bit soggy and mushy compared to what you'd get with a corn tortilla so that wasn't great. The filling for them was good though if you dig that out. The bean soup was really good, so that was a win! I also liked their salsa, it has great flavor and the chips that come with it were good too. It's BYO, so plan ahead if you want a drink. Our food also all came out at the same time: chips/salsa, soup, and entrees so it would have been nice to have them staggered more. By the time I got to my beans and rice with the entree they were cold. I wouldn't go again necessarily but I don't regret going for a first time. I have been to this restaurant twice. Both times I dined outside, the most recent time for Dining Under the Stars. The service was a little slow in the beginning, but it picked up after we finally got our orders in. The reservation system is a little inconvenient that the maximum party size is 6 even if you call in to make the reservation, so I had to make two reservations since I had over 6 people, but at the end the hostess let us all sit together even though it was a tight table for 7 people. The Mexican street corn was delicious. The Plantanos Maduros were surprisingly refreshing. The plantains were not deep fried. They were perfectly cooked and not too soft. The best party were the margarita mixes. You can all your own tequila into your cup. We ordered the Blood Orange and Pineapple Passionfruit. The kids were able to just drink the mixes as juice. I found a bone in my chicken quesadilla, which tells me the chicken was freshly shredded. It was also very well seasoned. The first two bags of chips we got were broken and in small pieces. The third bag was great. We ordered mild and medium spiciness salsas, but medium was not really spicy at all. The service was friendly and the ambience was great outdoors. read more

I recently ordered take out during lunch time from Dos Gringos. Dos Gringos in Media is located down a hill in a small space. They have some outside seating which I guess is great in the spring and early fall. The space for dinning inside is very tight. I would not recommend visiting with a large party. I ordered the surf and turf burrito with no turf. So basically I had a shrimp burrito. The burrito was really good. The spice flavors were really well blended. It did not taste to hot or like a ton of cumin. The burrito was huge stuffed with peppers, shrimp, rice, beans and cheese. The burrito came with a small side of chips. These were great to scoop up the remains that fell from the bottom. The price was a little steep. I kind of question an 11 dollar burrito. All in all the young lady at the counter was friendly, my food was ready when I arrived and it was good. read more

Went back to my favorite Mexican place this past weekend. I haven't been there in awhile and I worried it wouldn't live up to the memories. I was wrong, it was still amazing. We were seated outside on the sidewalk because it was a beautiful night. The laidback vibe was the perfect atmosphere for our meal. We brought tequila and had the passion fruit margarita pitcher. The passion fruit was so good - not too sweet! We started with the guacamole which was delicious. For our meals, we got the gringo mac and queso (amazing!!!), chicken enchiladas with grilled veggies, and the surf and turf fajitas. We all loved our meals and want to go back to have more! Dos Gringos has become one of our Media standbys, primarily since it is puppy friendly outside, and on a nice evening the Media side streets on which the restaurant lies is a great spot for people watching, nice ambiance, and great outdoor dining in the company of our furry boy. The first thing to consider about Dos Gringos is that it is small. Really small. So one needs to tailor expectations. Seven or eight tables inside, including four or five two-toppers by the window, and several four-toppers at each end of the restaurant. During nice days, most of the patrons - and the business, is outside. You can make reservations on OpenTable for inside seating, but we were told that outside seating is first-come-first-served, so it also pays to come in before the 7:00 PM evening rush if you want to sit outside. One of the owners is always there with his Colombian wife and family, tending to the restaurant needs, and oftentimes meeting patrons during their dining. The service, as it can be in a restaurant which can vary in size spontaneously due to the outside seating, can be spotty too. Having said that, they do their best. I thought their food was quite appetizing. Their chips and salsa are now sold as near-delicacies in off-the premise establishments, and they are indeed outstanding. My partner and I go there towards the weekends after working in the home and we tend to be ravenously hungry. Their flautas are outstanding and so are their fajitas. Many of the other items on the menu are Mexican infusion. Dos Gringos is a BYO, although the PA Liquor store is a scant two-blocks away if you forget your tequila. They offer their home made Margarita mix to go with it. Come early, sit outside, and you will experience an outstanding time. read more

Had lunch here a few weeks ago... It's a very small but comfortable place, and the food was really good. I had the chicken enchiladas which were quite impressive with black beans and rice, and my daughter and her friend both had the veggie quesadillas which were chock full of all kinds of good grilled veggies. The salsa bar wasn't that impressive... The containers they give you are so small that we had to fill them up a couple of times. The salsas that we tried were good though! The service was quick - the guy at the counter was very friendly and smiling the whole time. It's a little more expensive than other Mexican places we've been to but that wouldn't stop us from going there again. Overall - a very nice place! read more

I decided to check this place out on a recommendation. I'm so glad I did. The food was so tasty. I went with two friends and sampled their food and yum. Not one single bad tasting food. Safe to say you can order whatever and won't be disappointed We had the chips. Ok we had two tasty bowls with medium salsa but it was a little spicy I had the seafood enchiladas for dinner. Perfect portion size It's a BYOT (tequila) so we did. $12 pitcher of margaritas are available in different flavors. We had strawberry and mango Had the Churros and homemade ice cream for dessert. The ice cream was so creamy that you can tell it was made in house. The churro was still warm. Definitely make a reservation. The place is S.M.A.L.L. And filled up quick on a Friday night. Last night was my first time at Dos Gringos. It's decorated nicely and had a fun atmosphere. I highly recommend the empanadas for an appetizer. The meat was cooked perfectly, and it was fried just right so it wasn't super oily! The chicken enchiladas were very tasty as well! The sauce did not make the wrap soggy, and the chicken was well seasoned and very juicy. The surf and turf was okay. The steak was not very seasoned, but the presentation was nice and the shrimp was cooked very nicely. One thing we didn't do was bring our own tequila!! So if you go bring a bottle because they will make margaritas for you and your guest, which I think is very cute and fun!! Everything about this casual dining location was great. In this day of every restaurant being short staffed and servers not being overly experienced, DG managed to find a great staff. If you going there on a cold day, prepare to bring an extra jacket because you will freeze to death in there. No heating whatsoever. Some positives..... I had previously been here a couple of years ago and remember not being super thrilled but I couldn't remember why. The location was convenient so I decided to give this place another shot. I got the chicken enchiladas and guacamole. While they both tasted pretty good I was pretty disappointed by the portion size (mostly of the enchiladas) especially when compared to the price. The enchiladas were 17 dollars and they were small. Appetizer of guac was 10 bucks. Although the service was pretty good the prices and sizes reminded me why I haven't been back. I really like Dos Gringos. It's not authentic, but the title says it and it is good. Dos Gringos is a small, but friendly restaurant. I'm always served chips and salsa prior to the meal, which is great because all of the good smells in this restaurant makes me hungry. Dining under the rain(instead of star) with a friend. The place is pretty packed up. It's a bit cramp to sit at the corner. The bus boy is pretty hot according to my friend. He's really friendly, offered us extra nachos sauces if we want to. The waiter is so gorgeous, and incredibly strong too. She broke the Mexican soda bottle top edge when she tried to open it. It was a mango soda as I remember. Their pork belly is so soft and delicious. The menu in Yelp is not updated to their current menu so it's better to check with them.
