Whenever I travel out of state I make a point to eat at local spots ONLY. My friends and I wanted Mexican food and this place had decent reviews. You can place an order at the kiosk in front or at the register. It was easier using the kiosk because you didn't have to bother the lone server for options, add-ons etc. I had a birria bowl which was HEARTY. I mean the serving was huge and I was able to eat off it for two days. I thought it would be served with the consume, but I had to pay extra for that a sour cream. We did carry out, so the four stars is for cleanliness of the restaurant, quick service and serving size. I was very shocked that it was seasonless. There was no spice. There was nothing separating each ingredient in the bowl in terms of taste. It was all just one note and the note was Nothing. The consommé was also flavorless, but it did help with the dryness of the birria. I probably wouldn't try this place again if I came back at least not the burrito bowl my homegirl both had tacos and said that they enjoyed those. read more

Food was pretty good. I was in the area for business and was in the mood for some frijolitos. Without going to far from the hotel because of the DANG SNOW! I decided to try this place. I haven't had a chiminichanga in a long time plus it came with frijolitos y arroz so I ordered the carnitas chiminichanga. The taste was there; carnitas were tasty and the queso crema stuff they put on top was on point. Their salsas were a little weak; it would be good to have some spicy tomatillo salsa with anything carnitas. The frijolitos refritos were a little disappointing. There were mashed to a good consistency; too many whole beans. At least they weren't blended in the blender how some places do it. And gracias a dios that they weren't canned beans. NO CANNED BEANS!! the arroz was good. The atmosphere needs a pick-me-up. It was mostly because of the music. One would think a Mexican restaurant would play some sort of Mexican music. This place was playing instrumental versions of '70s classics. Please play some mariachi or cumbias or something Mexicano. I'm from southern California so maybe I shouldn't expect too much about Mexican food from Philly. And yes I hate the snow. A small hidden gem in Philly with very friendly staff! Regularly checked in on us, talked with us, very friendly for Philly! I liked the aesthetic inside with pretty murals. The food was absolutely amazing. I loved the homemade chips green salsa and the red smokey salsa. Fresh and seasoned very well. And the burria quesadilla?! One of the best I've ever had. We've been here two nights in a row, and the service has been absolutely top notch. Everyone is friendly and attentive from start to finish. Really wanted to love this place! We live less than 3 blocks from this restaurant and this was our first time trying it. We drove to pick up our order because we wanted it to be hot when we brought it home; we even went early to make sure we picked it up as soon as it was ready. We got home and the quesadillas we ordered were inedible. They were absolutely soaking wet with grease. I like to think we did everything we could to keep it as fresh as possible, but I was shocked at how absolutely soggy our meals were when we opened the containers at home. So disappointed! read more

I can't rate the food since after an hour it hadn't come. There was a single waitress on Cinco de Mayo and although there were many vacant seats, they couldn't keep up. I was in a party of three and got there at 5:55. After 30 minutes, the waitress came to take our drink order. We told her that we were ready to place our food order. She said she would need her pad, but took our drink order. 20 minutes later, she came to take our order but our drinks still hadn't come. 15 later, we left having never received anything. Throughout our wait, we saw four different parties walk out. The waitress had gone to one of them and asked to take their order. He said "we ordered an hour ago!" and got up and left. read more

This was my first time trying and I'm so happy with my order. First and foremost I loved my rice and black beans paired together. The rice was cooked perfectly and the beans were so flavorful. I got the mixed empanadas which consisted of beef and chicken. The beef weren't my favorite but the chicken were so good! Amazing food! Short wait time! We enjoyed the flautas, chips, salsa, guacamole, and birria tacos. Next time I want to try the birria ramen. The restaurant just has a few tables and does takeout, but it also has a mini market with lots of great Mexican ingredients. We will definitely come here frequently.
