3.5 Dos Hermanos is a laid-back, casual Mexican restaurant located in Downtown New Martinsville, right on the river. This established local spot is known for its classic Mexican dishes, cocktails, and its patio. On my visit, I had a slightly awkward experience when the server came to the table and asked if everything was okay. This was before I ordered my meal, and when I responded, they just took off and continued working. After waiting for a few minutes, I walked over to another server and ordered one of their signature dishes. This server was very helpful and recommended their ' Especial De La Cocina' Made with grilled chicken, steak and shrimp grilled with bell peppers, onions and mushrooms, on a bed of rice and topped with cheese dip. I ordered this dish with the cheese dip on the side. The dish, although simplistic, was very tasty, filling and hit the spot. Having the cheese dip on the side worked as I could dip as I pleased. Only reason I'm giving 1 star was being the food was good ther services sucks. We waited over 30 minutes to get any attention then waited a mother 10 minutes just to get our drinks. The only reason I gave 2 stars is because the food was edible and the scenery was outside on the river. Otherwise, the prices are too high and the food was no good. As a Mexican, sure I have a certain level of expectation - this is far from authentic. Everything was tasteless. We asked for guacamole, but sent it back, yuk. Wait staff are awesome! Willing to accommodate picky eaters. I like Chimichangas but I'm not crazy about cheese sauces and the waitress offered to get me samples of the two red sauces; which I declined as I prefer green sauce. This restaurant is just up the street from us & we eat there often (both dine in & take out). The menu offers anything from steaks, burgers, to the best enchiladas, tacos, etc. We have had many get togethers and parties there. They've got plenty of space, both indoors out outside & a private room too. There's a place to dock your boats out on the river & walk up to the restaurant. The staff & owners are outstanding!!!!! They've personally walked items left there to us & have helped as neighbors when needed moving furniture, etc.. Wonderful people; Like family to us. We'd highly recommend them. P.S. First off- what kind of Mexican restaurant uses PREMADE CANNED MARGARITAs?? There was nothing margarita about those pitchers of overly sweet kool-aid... no sour mix- no tequila- full bar and no bartender? When I asked about the flavor the waiter became defensive and said that we asked for that flavor- yes a flavored MARGARITA- After the first pitcher came out tasting like "lime flavored sugar water" we tried something else... the pitcher of peach margaritas was worse... Second the food! We ordered a cheese queso dip for our chips- these two tablespoons of cheese didn't make it to our table until our food came. We ordered Mexican fajitas for 2. Which came with 2 shrimp and a pile of burnt up and dry prices of unidentifiable meats. We asked if it was "for 2" because it was small (especially for $30) we were assured it was the double size. Until the bill came and we confirmed that we were only charged for one. Shrimp quesadilla? Yes if u only want 3 shrimp and cheese slapped on a tortilla. The view was nice! read more

I love this restaurant. The staff is really friendly and the food delicious. I had the Chimichanga Grande Fajita and it was delicious. The portions are large and prices reasonable. I eat here every time I am in town. 12/28 I stopped in again on my birthday. As usual we were greeted right away and seated. Caroline took our order and was super friendly. She always does a great job. The food was delicious. They put a sombraro on me & sang. They also gave me a delicious cinnamon dessert taco. Great place I stopped in yesterday 1/6/19 for lunch and boy this place has taken a serious nose dive. The service was horrible and food not so good. This is the 2nd time in a row for bad service. It took a long time for someone to take my order, and they were kind of rude when she did. They never came back after I received the food to ask if food was ok or to get me a refill. The food tasted like it had been prepared in old oil. It had a "burned" taste. This used to be a great place to go, but I will think twice about going back. read more

A Friday night and very busy. Five of us eating. Three received their meals. After patiently waiting and politely offering those that received their meals the opportunity to eat while the food is hot, the two missing meals were inquired about after nearly 15 minutes (it took a while to get the servers attention). After kitchen investigation, the table was told that the two meals had been hijacked by people at the bar. The two meals came after the three were done eating. It was a long evening and there was no renumeration for the error, only an apology when the food was delivered. Go here with low expectations, and friends that continue sustained 'good' conversation and you will have had food. read more

Margaritas was like watered down lemon aid... horrible...we had 4 guest ... they was disappointed both drinks and food and service. ordered carnitas as ALWAYS... was charged 7 dollars extra to sprinkle and I do mean sprinkle a little chorizo on the pork. OVER 50% of the meat was hugh soft chunks of FAT..... no one came to check on us until time for the check... our guest said - yuck - so glad we did not listen to you this time and order that meal.... you should send it back...I said I would if you find someone to give it back to.... at end of meal....waiter show up -- ask if all was ok ...I said NO...showed him my plate ... they offered to do NOTHING... He's a very picky eater but I can talk him into eating here pretty often bc he really likes the ACP Texano dish; this is about the only Mexican restaurant he'll agree to willingly. First, my only complaint: the room is too open and sound echoes around in there, especially screaming kids. However, if you go in there when there's NOT screaming children, it's a very pleasant experience! Service is EXTREMELY fast. Sometimes you will get your meal in as little as 5 minutes. Even when it isn't 5 minutes, it's still pretty quick. The salsa they give you as an appetizer is very good and it is my favorite style of salsa, the cantina style. Chips are usually warm and crisp. I've never had a bad meal here. Everything on the menu is good, but my favorite meal is the chicken Taquitos Mexicanos. They are delicious! It is served with guacamole salad and rice.
