The restaurant has a nice patio and a decent-sized dining area. The staff was friendly enough, but I had a hard time understanding them. This place serves basic Mexican food, including tacos, burritos, bowls, nachos, chips, and salsa. You just pick your protein and toppings. They have asada, chicken, asado, carnitas, and potatoes. Some toppings include shredded cheese, guacamole, salsa, corn, onions, and lettuce. You also have to choose between brown rice, Mexican rice, black beans, and pinto beans. I ordered a chorizo burrito. It took them about 5 minutes to prepare. The burrito was huge. I must say that it was very good. Very tasty and flavorful. It could have been a bit warmer, though. Dos Toros consistently has better quality food and service than both Chipotle and Moe's based on my experience. Food - I always get a chicken bowl with a ton of toppings. This is the only place where I can get crushed chips in my bowl too. In terms of the price point, it's similarly priced as other texmex places. I can also appreciate how I won't run out of options here. Service/atmosphere - the employees are also speedy when preparing my food. A coworker and I wanted a burrito other than Chipotle and found this chain from New York. While a bit on the smaller side, the steak was well seasoned and the ingredients seemed pretty fresh. A proper Mission-style burrito should come with chips and salsa on the side and this came with neither. Although the steak was cooked well and there was a hearty portion, there was way too much Mexican rice as part of a ratio with the rest of the burrito (and it was loaded on one side). Seating is sometimes hard to find due to the location and the customers it caters to being next to the sports arena. Fun and exciting grand opening here today. I was looking forward to the grand opening as I've heard a lot of great things and I am a quite impressed with their delicious, flavorful burrito bowls. I wasn't expecting to enjoy Dos Toros Taqueria for quite a few reasons. I haven't enjoyed fast-casual Tex-Mex since I first stepped into Moe's Southwestern Grill when it opened in Pittsburgh in 2008. I haven't set foot in Chipotle since they halved their portions and stopped serving tomatoes after the salmonella outbreak. Or was it listeria? I'll leave that to Google to answer. Essentially, I was hungry, it was cold, and I had never tried it, so I rolled the dice. The best thing about the food was the hot sauce--very flavorful and spicy. Coming from California, paying more than ten dollars for half a bowl of rice and beans is not it, but I wasn't too disappointed with the food for a first experience. What really impressed me was the service. The older Black gentleman who took my order was cheery and kind, which is a grand departure from most service industry workers in DC. He was patient, friendly, and seemed to be in a good mood. He wasn't just nice to me--he was nice to everyone. To top it all off, they were playing the hits. Nothing but the hits. Nothing but the motha funkin' hits. And you know I enjoyed a little Beyoncé with my pico. I left with an original quote in my mind (feeling inspired): If you want to work just for the money, enjoy your job. The minute you let your job affect your mood, you're never going to feel like you're paid enough. The bowl is hearty and tasty but I personally like Chipotle more than Dos Toros. The chicken was prepared differently than I am used to.
