With the birds chirping their morning song and the serene ambiance of walking this paved path amongst the trees, it was easy to displace the reality of being in a decent sized city for a bit. In addition to the walking trail, there is also a children's playground, a pavilion, a few picnic tables, a fitness area, and a decent sized parking lot. I would definitely recommend this pleasant walking trail and with it lit with street lights every few yards, I believe that it is open until ten o'clock at night. Go check it out for yourself, I am confident that you will not be disappointed. Overall, I will give it five stars. It is not a huge area, but Dothan Kiwanis Park and Trail proves that good things can come in small packages.

This trail system is all intertwined with each other so you get miles and miles of trails. There are parts that are for bicycles and other parts that are just for hiking. You can bring your dogs if they are leashed. They have a couple of trash bins and plastic poo bags on the trail. The trail is marked with milage markers. At the main parking lot there is a small pavilion with picnic tables and a small but intriguing playground. When I was there a few families were playing. This part is definitely worth a visit. Solomon Park is a great neighborhood park in the area that I grew up. When I was very young, there…read morewas not much more than open space and picnic tables. There were a few playground items. But overall it was a great place to take the family on a nice day for a picnic and to toss around a football or frisbee. But once I was a little older, some of the retirees in the neighborhood decided to construct an amazing playground with several elements of fun for neighborhood kids. But I recently found out and saw that all of that playground equipment was not maintained and eventually had to be removed. A definite fail by the city. I did learn recently that some improvements were made last year, but I have yet to see them. From what I understand, the only playground equipment is a swing set. This park is not big enough to benefit from wide sidewalks as a walking park. It should be a place for neighborhood families to go and enjoy the outdoors. They have basically turned the park back into a nicer version of what it was from my early childhood and downgrade of what it was in my pre-teen days. Hopefully continued improvements will make this park what it should be.

While I was there I strolled slowly around the whole trail making sure to stop at my favorite style, the Asian garden. It was really calming. I liked the turtles and the small amount of koi. Other areas I thought were great was the rose garden and the paved trail. The trail is mostly shaded, so it wasnt that bad even though the temperature was in the low 90s on my visit. I will say that starting July 1st they are going to start charging an admission price. It seems that might be the right idea. Some of the areas ,such as the butterfly garden looked a little neglected. Maybe the admission fee will help that? In either case I will be coming back. If you are even remotely interested in plants or the outdoors, I highly recommend stopping by.

Beaver Lake has 3 paved hiking trails. All beautiful! Today I tried their Green Trail which is only two miles. The lake seems small but open for fishing. You must have your AL fishing license to fish here. Around the lake there is shade and there are plenty of picnic benches. The area also hosts a Disc Golf Course which seems pretty cool. Next to the lake they have two small playgrounds, trees and from what the signa state no dogs allowed but they are allowed on the trails which is weird because it passes by the lake area so idk. Nevertheless, they do have bags for proper poop disposal. I really enjoyed the lake and the trails around it, I cannot believe no one had ever even put it on yelp. Its pretty awesome!!! Possibly the best $4 (per person) you will ever spend. We first went to the Blue hole spring near…read morethe caves, however the water was murky and brown with poor visibility. So I googled nearby springs and this recreation area came up. I was totally surprised to pull up and find that the water was super clear and blue. They have a pretty large swimming area with a diving board and slides. There is plenty of room to lay out and get sun. Also allow you to swim outside of the main area. The lifeguards were super friendly when I asked if I could swim outside the area and even told me where the underground cave was outside of the main area. Underneath the diving board is an entrance to another underwater cave. Be aware that there is a current in the main swimming area. We really enjoyed swimming/snorkeling in the area and seeing the underwater caves. It's a great value!!! I highly recommend hanging out here if you're in the area!!

This is mainly a small area that offers basketball courts, a small children's play area, a few…read moresport fields geared more towards baseball, though are pretty overgrown and a small pavilion. The front has a little memorial for the veterans from the area. I was here on a late Friday morning and there was no one else here. The fact that it was in the forties also came into play, I am sure. I don't think I would go out of my way to come to this park. However, it is not a terrible place. There is just not a lot to do here.
