I actually don't drink tea but was looking for a quick breakfast. I really like the setup: you seat yourself and order from a tablet, and then they bring the food and drink over. Nicely decorated. 9:30am on a Monday and it seems like there are some business meetups going on, plus over customers. I got the avocado toast which was pretty good & what I'd recommend. I think someone else mentioned it was spicy... I didn't think it was spicy. I was disappointed by the chocolate croissant though, which is why the three stars. I stopped by here a few times in July 2017; twice for breakfast around 7:30 AM and once for a meeting with a colleague around 11 AM. All of my visits were on weekdays. The café is cute, with a nice atmosphere, colorful décor, and plenty of seating. The first time I came, I got the granola yogurt breakfast with fruit compote. It was a very generous portion and made a very filling breakfast. I also got the gunpowder tea, and it was neat that they served it for you in this high tech container that they set over the teapot to dispense the tea; you could see that it was loose leaf and not a teabag. The breakfast and tea came out to be around £8, steep for breakfast but reasonable given the yogurt was so huge I could barely finish it. The second time, I got the avocado toast and a flowering tea (can't remember which one, but the menu shows pictures of the flowers). The avocado spread has a bit of a kick to it, which wasn't really to my taste but that's more of a personal aversion to spicy food. The flowering tea was neat; it took a good 30 seconds for mine to fully blossom and it was fun to watch while eating. I would note that they serve it in a long-stemmed glass which is rather hot to the touch, so I wouldn't order a flowering tea unless you have time to let it cool down before trying to pick it up. My last time, I came for a mid-morning snack and work meeting. My colleague was trying to avoid dairy; we were told there was a dairy-free lemon cake, but the waiter had to double back to let us know they didn't have any left. There was also an extensive smoothies menu, but when the waiter went to check availability, there was only 1 cup of the vitamin boost smoothie left, so we gave it a miss. There weren't any other dairy-free items but they were willing to serve my colleague avocado toast even though breakfast was over, which was kind. I got a cappucino cake and the gunpowder tea again; the cake was moist and tasty. When we left about 30 minutes later, they were starting to bring out cupcakes and salads, and the smoothies looked to have just been restocked, so probably we just arrived at a bad time. There is free wifi that is very easy to connect to. The staff are generally friendly and polite. The café is conveniently located near the Blackfriars tube station. This is definitely a great place to get some work done, or have a chat with someone. read more

Well, I've got mixed feelings about this place. We wanted to have Afternoon tea but didn't realize they require a reservation for this. We got conflicting answers from the staff about what they could and could not do to accommodate our request but ultimately were told that they wouldn't do it on a walk in basis. There is nothing on the menu that states this so it was just irritating since we went there specifically for this. Some individuals on the staff seemed to speak English as a second language and had trouble communicating beyond just repeating things listed on the menu. But beyond those frustrations the food was really nice. It was around £8-12 per person for a big lunch that included an entree and two sides. The entrees were things like Lasagna, Curry Chicken, etc. and the sides were mostly veggie salads like mozzarella with tomatoes or shredded carrots with raisins. I really enjoyed the freshness and the flavor. I would return here again for lunch simply for the food alone. It was very busy but we were still able to find a table and get quick service. read more

Had a great lunch at To A Tea today... Service is unbelievably nice and friendly. Ambiance is great. I loved the open, airy feel, although there were quite a few flies in the restaurant, which I didn't love! Food was overall excellent. Seabass with avocado salsa was delicious, as were the roasted sweet potatoes. The Greek salad was just okay - I wouldn't recommend it. Carrot soup was fantastic and my husband seemed to like his stuffed aubergine. His side of lentils were just okay...wouldn't recommend those either. To A Tea offers a huge tea selection, and my fennel tea was great. I don't recommend the scones though as ours was so hard we had to send it back for fear of breaking our teeth. Another note: go on the earlier side because by 2:15pm the restaurant was out of many of their daily specials, which was disappointing. Overall we'll return if we're in the area! read more

I happened to stumble across this place on my way to work last week and will forever make sure I come back! Although I only had a take away, the place was excellent! The decor was lovely. Very quaint! I had a cup of tea (as you do in To A Tea!) and also a blueberry muffin. Both were excellent and have won my business when I'm in the area! Very nice! read more

I asked if we could have afternoon tea, although the we hadn't booked, the manager was incredibly accommodating and we waited a little while and it arrived. A suit storm in a tea shop! I do enjoy seeing professionals conducting business over carrot cake. To a Tea is the product of an enlightened age wherein a cutesy tea shop can do a brisk business right in the heart of Fleet Street. Rose buds tea is pure and sweet, and extremely beautiful to watch steeping in a glass teapot. £2.95 is a very fair price for the pleasure. I had three of their many salads, and would not say they're great, but the plate was a reasonably priced £5.50 and it is a good non-sandwich, non-chain sit-down option in the area. The cakes were popular, but I'll have to try them next time. Fast, friendly, and efficient service, which is just what you'd expect for the crowd. Best of all for rogue workers, the wifi is free and unlimited--they don't even ask you to sign into some data-harvesting system. They also sell all of their blends to take away and give as gifts--just the detail I need to seal the deal on To a Tea's solid four stars! read more

This is the perfect little breakfast place. I loved their earl grey tea, and the eggs royale were really delicious. The place is quiet and the waiters were really polite and helpful. They also make incredibly delicious ginger smoothies. We came here on our first morning in London, incredibly jet lagged and the tea and smoothie were just absolutely perfect. read more

So when I came here for lunch with a colleague, I was pleasantly surprised by its wide selection of salads and cakes in addition to fabulous mix of teas on offer. To A Tea has a large selection of teas available, and each order is brewed in small, translucent teapots, with matching teacup and saucer that makes one smile. The place also has a large selection of salads to choose from and is decently priced - perfect for lunch inside or take away. Finally made it into this tea shop - which had looked interesting from the get go but somehow did not initially 'invite' me in. This is not a tiny, cosy little establishment. It's big and high ceilinged and glassy and lightfilled but it does have sweet and humorous little pieces of art (all along the tea / teapot theme) and large communal tables plus some very lovely big, black chairs that provide privacy and a cosy place to rest in. Tea is very well priced, well brewed and served to your table. Even the peppermint tea was a loose leaf tea - not a tea bag in sight. Cakes are all big and freshly baked. The Victorian sponge got top marks (both times), so did the chocolate cake. Other lovelies still awaiting my verdict include a lavender cake, lemon drizzle, carrot cake plus biscuits and brownies. Service on both occasions has been just perfect - so what's not to like? Sandwiches, coffee, juices also available and there's free wi-fi too. read more

In the midst of all the snazzy coffee shops popping up, To a Tea is little a little corner of happiness. I've completely gone off tea recently so a pot of the good stuff is the only thing keeping me sane. And they do make a decent pot here. I'm traditional with my tea. It needs to be breakfast, with milk. I'm not one for green tea. There's no caffeine in it for a start. There are some really cute to shops in London, but To A Tea is pretty modern looking. Communal tables, little snug chairs, and a work bench to keep me out of the way whilst I'm bashing on my keyboard (they have free wifi). You get some good people watching by the window too. The staff are friendly, the cakes are good. The tea starts at less than £2 a pot. I really like it here. Now Blackfriars has shut you're unlikely to just walk past on a bit of a stroll. So clear an afternoon. Make a point of coming here (it's five minutes from London Bridge on the train). And save me a piece of cake. read more

Went here for afternoon tea with a wowcher deal. Was very disappointed. The tablecloth had all stains on it. The sandwiches were not all that. Just normal cheese or egg sandwiches. Scones were grey looking and not very fresh. Cup cakes look like they'd been bought from Tesco. And the bottomless prosecco we had to keep asking for and this was only for an hour. I've heard this place described as a "less upscale version of Manicomio," which is pretty accurate. The takeaway lunch is similar, as you can pick a main (there are generally 5-6 types of cooked meat or pasta), and add two salads to it (Manicomio you can only choose two meats or salads to put in a large box). I've only been twice but the selection has been fairly similar each time - I got a grilled chicken leg the first time and the miso salmon the second. The salads range from chickpeas to beets to grilled veg or couscous... plenty of options. And it's fairly cheap too, like £5.50 for a normal main + 2 salads and slightly over £7 for one with salmon. I do think the food at Manicomio is nicer, but £5.50 is definitely a bargain for lunch in the City. read more

Visited my favourite place in the city recently and had to rave about it again! As always I received a warm welcome from all the friendly staff and enjoyed another mouth watering meal of the generous portion size I received and to top it off had a slice of the best red velvet cake in the world!! Pity about the location: in a concrete block in out-of-the-way Farringdon Street. But wow... once inside it is brilliant. Fantastic teas, coffee fist rate and staff really friendly. Good, spacious ambience. Although I didn't eat, the lunch food looked good - Mediterranean style and salads. Worth a visit if you are in the area. read more
