My mom and I had the full afternoon tea and we ordered two cream teas for my kids. Everyone absolutely loved it. The finger sandwiches were tuna, cucumber, egg, smoked salmon and a warm ham and cheese. The scones were delightful. We don't love raisins in our scones and they were able to accommodate us. Perfectly crispy on the outside and soft on the inside! Served quite warm as well. Pretty alright tea finger sandwiches overall; the cucumber sandwich had a nice lemon zing to it though the smoked salmon sandwich and egg sandwich had bread that was a bit on the stale side. Regarding desserts, the raspberry macaron was very tasty and had a great slight chew to it but the red velvet cake was pretty dry. There were more food items at the tea service but I'm just highlighting the most noteworthy ones. :p For tea I had the jasmine lychee. Satisfyingly bold lychee taste! We had a little mishap with running behind our resy + then slight miscommunication from staff which led to our table being given away. Luckily the London weather in December held up surprisingly well and we snagged a table outside. You can't beat this price! Possibly the quaintest tea service in all of London. There are only five or six tables inside, ensuring everyone has a cozy experience with classic music cheerfully playing in the background. The staff was by and large the friendliest I've met in London so far, regularly checking on us and ensuring that we were having a good experience. The tea service was simply splendid. I wanted to bottle up the smell of the vanilla rooibos and take it home with me, it was filled with a sweetness and warmth that brought me so much peace. The food was delightful. We particularly enjoyed the croque monsiuer sandwiches and scones being warm (we haven't had a tea service with warm and cold components before), and the rotating tray of baked goods was divine. My partner said the the scone was the best they ever had, as was the mini banoffee cake on our tea service. Also the value was unreal. Most afternoon tea services that I have seen are 50-80 pounds, this one was only 25 per person. It in no way feels like corners were cut or that this experience was cheapened in any way, but I was floored we received the top tier experience that we did for the price that we did. Truly unheard of for central London. The dessert and pastries were okay, and sandwiches tasty. I'm giving 2 stars because of the absolute rudeness and lack of hospitality shown to us from the beginning. We booked weeks ahead on Yelp for 5 pm tea and showed up on time. We were told immediately that they close at 6 which was fine, but were reminded again when we sat down and told specifically by the waiter the latest he would stay was 6:06. The hours are listed as 9am to 7 pm on Yelp. We made sure we were ready to order as soon as they came over and asked if we could get afternoon tea. The answer was yes but all body language pointed to LEAVE ASAP. The waiter snapped back all answers and was rude when asked for tea recommendations. The two men who served us seemed put out by our very existence and made us feel very uncomfortable. We gulped our tea, wolfed down our dry cake and treats and £40 per person later we spilled back onto the street at 5:40 pm. We dressed up especially for this occasion and would have gladly booked an earlier time if we had known an hour was not enough. We did not have reservations, and the host kindly allowed us a slot of about 45 minutes before the next reservation came. With only a weekend to spend in London, we took it. The ambiance is everything you want for high tea. It feels special but not pretentious. It strikes the right balance of charm, elegance, and coziness, so you never want to leave. Soft lighting, traditional but not stuffy vibes, and intimate - seats perhaps 15 inside? This allows the staff to personalize your experience. Also the little things like the teacups are things of beauty. They thought of it all. The food is exceptional. What you get is incredible - both in quantity and in quality. So many tea sandwiches, each better than the last, and perfectly balanced, tasty... great textures, flavors, and presentation. Honestly probably the best tea sandwiches I've ever had. Don't get me wrong, the scones and desserts were fabulous too but amazing tea sandwiches are just harder to come by, IMO. But I have to say the tea itself was my favorite part. Some 'high tea' locations don't invest much time, effort, or money in the teas they serve. This place does. Is this the best, fanciest tea in all of London? Nope! Is it the "best value" high tea? It certainly might be! Candella is pretty close to Kensington Palace so if you aren't having tea there, this is a good alternate. Its a tiny place so definitely make a reservation as we saw several parties get turned away. Also definitely try to sit inside as the local pigeons are VERY aggressive! Anyway, expect mis-matched vintage chairs and vintage China - all in a very charming way. As we were a group of 4, we had the "family tea" at £40 which included 4 sandwiches (cut into dainty quarters, no crusts of course!), 4 scones and 4 chunks of cake, plus 2 large pots of tea. IMO the sandwiches were pretty "ok" but the scones were absolutely delicious and not at all like what is served in the US as scones (dry, nasty things). These were light, warm crumbly cakes that were even better when piled with clotted cream and jam. The cakes (carrot, a sponge of some kind and red velvet) would do Paul Hollywood proud. For tea you have LOTS of choices from traditional (earl gray, etc) to beautiful herbals. I picked a berry hibiscus that was just beautiful and Kelly picked a lavender earl gray - both perfect with our fancy cakes. If you're hungry, the family tea definitely will fill 2 people up (not bad for £20/head) or serve as a nice light meal for 4. Luckily Candella was very close to where my hotel was so I made sure to arrive right as they opened. It wasn't long after they were turning people away since they had a few walk-ins as well as reservations that had already been made. I ordered the Eggs Benedict and breakfast tea. The tea was fantastic, made very strong (which is exactly how I like it). If you like cream with your tea make sure to ask, they normally don't bring it to your table. The Eggs Benedict was okay, the hollandaise sauce had too much of a mayo taste to it. Then again the tea and scones are their speciality so I wasn't bothered by it. If you enjoy the tea you can buy the loose leaf tea to take home. They have a ton of different teas to choose from. This is a cosy little tea room, it has only 5 little tables and can seat may be around 10-12 people indoors. The lady at the counter was super nice and friendly, she made me feel welcome and helped me pick the right tea. I had a pot of lavender earl grey which was really good and came with 2 scones and clotted cream and strawberry jam. I also wanted to try finger sandwiches, so ordered the egg mayo sandwich as well. There's a solid selection of teas; I would not recommend the white tea, because it is too light. The service is adequate; there were two young-ish (in their early 20s if that?) women, who were pretty attentive but for the most part, chatted quietly with each other in the back area or looked at their phones.
