What an amazing Gem we found. The cabins were amazing. We stayed in a two level cabin. Room was so clean. Beds were comfortable and there was a nice living area downstairs. We had corn beef hash and pancakes for breakfast and I must say I travel a lot. Nationally and internationally. This was the best breakfast I've had hands down. The cleanliness of the ace and quality of food will def make us come back again. Last but not least the service was amazing. A lodge, restaurant and golf course, which used to be set up for destination dining for visitors and locals as well as overnight guests. Dining prices were always on the (very) high side and the service was slow, but it was made up for by the log building/ mountain lodge type atmosphere, friendly staff and good food. We would eat at Double Arrow Restaurant several times a year, for birthdays, celebrations with friends, or local events. Since the covid restrictions have decreased, this business has stated that they are no longer interested in hosting locals, and apparently is catering only to overnight guests and those events like reunions, receptions, weddings, etc where there are bigger dollars. This was confirmed personally and by several other unrelated groups attempting to patronize the restaurant, only to be turned away, sometimes at the door. So don't bother stopping by if you happened to be in the area. This seems to be a place where even the locals are no longer welcomed. read more

Went for birthday dinner. Martinis perfect. Cesaer excellent, very fresh & great dressing. Also the halibut, amazing, good portion and excellent sides. The more expensive of the two steaks had a lot of gristly fat around the outside but once you got into the middle was very good. waited until the last day of our vacation trip to try the Bison Burger at our good by lunch....wow....underwhelmed....three of us came away with "what the Heck"....we voted it most boring burger every, Plating was non existant....no imagination at all in our meal, just plane and simple ....service was weak....slow and untrained....spills and no trills..yes she spilled the soup at the table...management and or supervisors were lurking in the back ground and not sure they wanted to do anything to help, so they just watched and talked behind the "green curtain". Lots of stuff going on in the back so maybe it something else but was not fun for us...period...not fun. We noticed a "Summer Help Wanted" posting on the bulletin board. dang it is already September and still looking for hired help...they need to train them better...I hope they find the right people and get them trained and in place soon.... read more

Service is a huge issue. Wish I could have tried some of the food discussed in other reviews, but never had the chance. Arrived on the Sunday morning of Memorial Day weekend for breakfast. No excuse for being understaffed on the "kickoff to summer" holiday weekend. No one greeted us, no one took our name and we watched as two groups sat themselves and one other group that arrived well after we did was seated right in front of us as we waited at the vacant hostess podium. It was a truly baffling and horrendous experience - one of the worst customer service related experiences of my life. I will never return, regardless of the reputation of the food, while the restaurant is under the current ownership. Apparently, the restaurant manager is owners' daughter, so I'm sure they are completely blind to her managerial inadequacies. read more

For the restaurant: 5 stars. (We did not use any other parts of the resort) The resort restaurant is open to the public, and with its current 2010 chief this is fine dining with a fine natural setting. The outside patio with its view of mountains, plains, and golf course is both exhilarating and relaxing. The tables inside are classy, but even then the decor is dominated by the natural sights coming through the windows. This year the food is a match for the extraordinary physical beauty of the landscape. The young chef, Matt Lenz, offers three menus: bar food, fine dining, and Tuesday - Thursdays, a pizza menu. Wednesday night we were offered all three -- there are crossovers on the bar and fine dining, and the prices were the same both places. We ordered bluepoint crab on corn fritters with cilantro pearls and smoked baby back ribs for appetizers. Our mains included grilled shellfish brochettes for one team and rib eye wrapped around mushrooms, bacon, and bleu cheese. Deserts included Banana's Foster (lit at tableside). This is not a backwoods, meat and potatoes, selection. Yet, the execution of each dish was perfect. Really. The shellfish kabob had a reasonable side lobster tail, three very large shrimp, and one or two large scallops. The food looses heat quickly at this altitude, so by the end the fish was cold. Any flaws would have shown up then, but the food was excellent quality, cooked uniformly, and delicious. The rib eye eaters were equally impressed. The wind from a near-by and possibly approaching thunderstorm frightened us off the patio to a table inside after the appetizers. The staff, particularly our server Renee, were completely gracious and helpful with our move. In fact, they paced our slow dinner exactly as we requested and provided very friendly, professional service throughout the night. Thank you, folks! Good. simple food is the best I expected in this small town where the attraction is nature not big-city fluffiness. But, Double Arrow provided truly destination dining with excellent service. One caution: locals say that over the years the quality of the restaurant varies dramatically according to the quality of the chef. I'm rating soley on the dining experience. For Seeley Lake this is the best place to dine. I have esten here about 5 or 6 times over the past few years. Sometimes it is 5 stars and other times it is 2 stars. The lamb has always been good, as well as the appatizers and salads which are usually huge. The beef and other game are hit or miss. The last time I had the buffalo kabob wich was honestly terrible but the lamb and ribeye were good. the plating was very boring and not as impressive at all as the last time we ate there. I likley would have given 4 stars but the service really needs some help. They have an extensive wine list which none of the servers seamed to have a clue about. I had one waitress actually tell me that the wine I was asking about was " its a red that taste like it has a little white wine mixed with it" after she said that I realised that I was on my own for picking out wine for everyone for there dinner. I am by no means an expert but when I ask a simple question I expect the server to have at least a little information. she also was very unsure about the menu when we asked if there was garlic in a few dishes adn she had no clue and was reluctant to go ask the chef until I told her that someone was allergic to it so we really needed to know the answer. Overall its a hit or miss place and the servers really need some better training. It really is the only decent place to eat in Seeley Lake. read more

I really enjoy coming to the Double Arrow for dinner. It is a really gorgeous and cozy old lodge that has one of the oldest ice boxes in MT at their bar! Very cool area, and really really wonderful food. I have never been disappointed by the fine dinning at the Double Arrow. My wife, four month old daughter, and I had Christmas Eve and Christmas dinner here during our stay and could not have had a better experience. Short, but well chosen wine list with bottles from $15 to $200, mostly from the Americas, but a handful of choices from Europe as well. Good selection of local micro-brews as well. Both nights, we were eating off a fixed menu, but all of the food we had was great. Perfectly cooked prime rib with a great salty crust. Great Parmesan kale salad, house-made bread was very good as well. And who could complain about Manhattans for only 6.50! Charming staff as well. We are already trying to figure out how we can make this an annual tradition. read more

This is our second time to Seeley Lake. We are snowmobilers and we love to ride in new places. We had such a great time riding here last year, we had to come back. We are very impressed with the level of service and down right friendliness of the staff. Drinks are reasonably priced and you can order off of the main menu, or the Bar menu. The WiFi is very fast (able to stream movies, etc.) and reliable. I hope your stay is as enjoyable as ours! read more

My wife and I came for the night to celebrate our one year anniversary. Part of our package deal was a $50 voucher to go towards dinner in their fine dining restaurant, located in the lodge. I ordered the Snake River farms tenderloin and my wife ordered the 10 ounce sirloin steak. The proteins were cooked to perfection, a perfect medium rare. Both steaks were very good. After dinner we both partake and dessert. My wife ordered the banana Foster and I had the better than grandma's bread pudding. This desert is why I gave the restaurant four stars. The bread pudding was not that good and the sauce it came with was way too sweet. However the presentation was very nice. read more

Apparently a better welcoming if your a visitor and not a resident. Waited for an hour for a table when 5 were visible and not used our whole visit. We were seated at the bar to " wait for an available table" , treated the whole time like we were a neusance, the server/hostess was rude, slow and definitely NOT a welcoming environment at all!!! Huge kicker...it was the OWNER waiting on us. She kept saying we needed reservations...twice now this has happened to me here....there are multiple tables open during our visit...both times. If you a guest...it's going to be a great visit, slow but pleasant...if your a local...your treated very poorly by the owner...note to owner...it's the locals that keep you afloat on your off season, you should maybe think about that a bit. I won't be returning to be treated like a bother to you!! Staff is great...couple of run ins with the owner is enough....no more returns for me or my visitors thanks. read more

An amazing dinner here in little tiny Seeley! First focaccia with olive oil and fresh herbs. Then we had the rattlesnake and rabbit sausage with home made (very yummy and not spicy like canned) sauerkraut with bacon. It was served with two types of mustard (I liked the honey one.) Two of us had the signature rib eye that was wonderful. The reduction on the steak was awesome. Fresh sautéed veggies and really good mashed potatoes. Hubby had the pork chop and he made me take the bone home so he could chew it later! Lastly we had the creme brûlée that was very good and served while the sugar top was still warm. We will definitely be back! Only caution is to not pick something off the online menu and have your heart set on it because then menu changes weekly. Also Tues, Wed and Thurs they offer home made pizza. They Iooked wonderful. You have to ask for the menu. read more

About twice a year my wife and I stay at the Lodge as a nice getaway. We really like the Tamarack cabins. It's a free standing cabin with a private deck. A very cozy seating area by the gas fire place is perfect for reading a book. The main lodge is beautiful and in colder months they build a roaring fire in the stone fireplace. We always enjoy eating at the restaurant and having cocktails by the fire. We have been to some of their special events like Thanksgiving and New Years Eve. The New Years Eve was really fun with special apps on the hour and snowy sleigh rides around the property. read more

I checked out the Double Arrow Lodge in mid-February for a quilt retreat lunch. I was so impressed that my husband and I spent our 40th anniversary there in mid-March. While there I again checked on a table for 7 people for lunch. "Do you need me to make a reservation?" I was told no but to call ahead so the table would be ready. I called the day before to make the arrangements and was told they only needed about 30-40 min notice so to call back then. I called 40 min out and was told they were closed. I then had to scramble for a place to feed my hungry shoppers. This lack of professionalism now has me looking for a new place to stay for next year's anniversary. I will not be back. read more

Dined here again a couple days ago. Two of us ordered the duck with black rice and root vegetables. It was extremely tasty, prepared very well. Other in our party ordered their signature ribeye and was very pleased with it. We had assortment of green salads, a cheese plate and of course wine. Finished with coffee and a shared dessert. The only negative was lack of a coffee refill which I am sure would have been corrected had I asked. Is it pricey? Yes. Is it worth the price? Absolutely! The service was very good as well as friendly and knowledgeable. Have dined in prior to this visit and have had the pizza and calzones as take out. All were very good. read more

The hotel portion is rustic. That's to be expected. Log cabins. Nature trails. The bed was comfortable, and the room simple. Lighting isn't really good enough to read by. No air (even though it's 90 degrees or better outside) Ceiling fan helps. I suspect in the winter it's rather chilly, as one can see through the cracks in the logs. But it keeps the wild critters out at night, so all in all - it's ok. But I do expect the room to be vacuumed daily, and soap and things to be replenished. On this I was disappointed. It would be nice if there were internet access as well - but then that's probably not why you're here to begin with. Swimming is in a separate building. It's clean. Dressing rooms need more attention through the day than they get, and the showers are typical of a hotel locker-room. The pool is a bit chilly for my tastes, and the hot tub really needs to be worked on - it's warm at best. The air circulation in the building housing the pool should be improved. If you want a near-old west experience, staying here will help deliver that. If that's not what you're looking for, I'd look elsewhere. The people, however, are very nice, and genuine. I live in Seeley Lake and enjoy going to the Double Arrow Lodge, Seasons Restaurant. I feel it really is the best place on town to go. The atmosphere is wonderful and the service is always great. It's nice walking into a place and they know you by name and what you drink. Lately things have changed and it's because of a new restaurant manager. I just don't enjoy going anymore. In my opinion, the new manager is over the top fake, acts as though she's never met me before, like it's my first time there. The last visit, my husband & I were in for dinner, and the place was empty. We were rushed to sit at the bar instead of a table, which seemed a little odd. So, we sat at the bar and ordered a few drinks. My husband's drink was wrong, after letting her know she poured the wrong drink, she made another, but we were still charged for the wrong drink. I think she was so busy at the bar rearranging flower arrangements from a previous wedding, that she wasn't focused. We won't be back when she's working. Aside from this issue, this restaurant is worth making time for. The food is great and the staff is efficient and friendly. read more

Anniversary celebration dinner. Party of four. The 4 of us had the house salad that was more than expected. It was more of a gourmet salad with huckleberry vinagerette and excellent. One had steelhead salmon that was fabulously prepared in a brown butter sauce over a bed of wild rice. Looked as good as it tasted. One had Wagyu Kobe style beef with garlic mashed potatoes and al dente fresh vegetables. Two had bison short ribs that were prepared to perfection with huckleberry Demi glaze. It was so tender it just fell off the bone. No gamey taste at all. Fabulous! We celebrated with huckleberry cheesecake for dessert. Perfect. Our waitress, Sydney, gave us outstanding service. We were seated 15 minutes before our reservations. We didn't have to even ask for the best window table but we got it and a fabulous view of the meadow and the sunset. Highly recommend this restaurant and lodge. The lodge is now listed as a historical lodge. A must see! read more
