This place is slipping. My rating isn't consistent. While I typically love coming for the crispy chicken sandwich, didn't get it tonight. Came with the in-laws. Sat for like 10 minutes before being acknowledged. The waitress that's normally there must have been overwhelmed with the one and only other table of 6 and no one in the restaurant. She came over after a guy took and filled the drink order to give the specials. I was confused as to why she kept going to a guy playing golf, who ended up going being the bar to make a drink. She never made it back. I guess a 30 top that came into the restaurant 25 minutes after we sat down was it. 35 minutes later and drinks were gone, we gave up on being ignored, paid for the drinks and left. I was super sad to not get the sandwich. Ultimately, there was absolutely no reason for tonight's experience. read more

Love that they've reopened with new ownership. Cleaner inside and some new items on the menu. Brownell's closed down the street and DB now has the Strippers recipe! My biggest gripe is I wish the service was better. They just reopened a few months ago though so I'll hold hope that they continue to learn and get better. read more

Just an FYI for everyone; New Name & New Management -(Double Barrel Tap House & Gathering)- for the past few months. They've got really good food and the atmosphere has the welcoming feel you want when you're coming to get of the house and hang out for a bit. 2 pool tables, dart board, Golden Tee golf, Ms. Pac Man to keep you entertained. Large dining area between both rooms/areas. Pool tournament every Thursday. Comfy couch area to chill out and chat with your friends or do some work during the day. Craft beers on tap and full bar. (Buckle up...yer goin' fer a ride!) There's a new hot spot in downtown Newport! This establishment meets a lot of things we look for in a place we want to linger longer. First of all, they are locally owned and thus far have regular/dependable hours of operation. It is a restaurant & bar but appears to be very family friendly. I even saw a post about a children's karaoke time slot. While this place offers many different "zones " of seating types and atmospheres, it still retains its sense of openness. There is also an entirely separate dining area should you have little ones you don't care to be in earshot/eyesight of the bar area. The only thing I would suggest at this point would be lowered lighting in the bar area after a certain hour which could also serve as notice for children to leave the combined bar/restaurant section while leaving the lights up in the restaurant only section. Out back there is a small enclosed/fenced outdoor (smoker friendly of course) seating area around a cozy firepit which is perched at just the right height to keep your legs warm as well. We were nicely greeted upon arrival and all staff were friendly. We decided to take seats up at the bar. I'm always appreciative when I find that there are purse hooks available underneath! The decor is cowboy/country style without being cutesy or trying too hard. The music at the time we were there was 80's and 90's and at a level where you could hear it to enjoy it but not so loud you felt you had to raise your voice to have a conversation. Nicely done on speaker placement and/or quality! They offer 3 big screen tvs for sports/shows, digital jukebox, 2 electronic dart boards, a couple arcade games, and 2 pool tables (.75). On certain nights they have karaoke and music/dancing. They have a handful of beers on tap with enough variety for differing tastes, bottled/canned selections, and hard liquor also. Now for the food. Everything is homemade except for the chicken strips. I don't even know where to begin about the food other than WOW! It is quite a bit pricey for our regular meals out but SO WORTH IT! Based off of this 1st visit, I dare says rivals...nay surpasses, the long standing well known steak house in Sandpoint. All the food was cooked to perfection, tasted fantastic, and provided a portion to satisfy even the hungriest. We were also surprised by the quality, durability, and thought that went into the service wear such as napkins/cutlery/plates/glassware. While not overly fancy by any means, I appreciated its simplistic hardiness. We began our gastronomic experience by sharing a cup of corn chowder soup. It wasn't overly thickened and was absolutely delightful as it boasted little hints of peppers and whole kernels  of corn. I had the ranch bbq chicken quesadilla special. This is truly deceiving and was definitely a meal in itself or would be perfect to split between 2 more friends for a hearty app. It was grilled to a buttery crunchy perfection on the outside and stuffed with melty cheese goodness and moist chicken chunks dabbled lightly with bbq sauce on the inside. The accompanying sliced jalapenos were amazingly fresh. My love had the fillet mignon special smothered in a shrimp portabello mushroom gorganzola sauce with a side of mashed potatoes and veggies for companions. It was cooked to perfection at medium rare with melt in your mouth tenderness. The butterflied shrimp were perfectly cooked as well. The potatoes were creamy, buttery, and hearty without being an over whippedd glutinous mess. Lastly the veggies, o.m.g...so fresh tasting and steamed just right retaining their slight crunch. As you can see in the photo, the side salad was equally impressive and not boring with a nice mix of greens, cherry tomatoes (that didn't taste of fishy hydroponics), scrumptious cucumber slices, pumpkin seeds and craisins. Even though we were 100% satiated, (especially since this was a birthday celebration) we splurged and ordered the flourless chocolate cake. Again...WOW...rich satin mouth melty! An absolute perfect finish. We honestly cannot wait to return for another meal or even just to hang out for a couple drinks and a game of pool. Please come and try/support this establishment and make it your regular haunt as we'd hate to see this rare find dissapear. read more

Please get some help before it's too late. Had a burger I would go to burger King next time and I would never go to burger King lol. To be fair I am very critical as I like good food. All 4 bites of the burger were ok. Frozen patty cheap bun bacon was good. They serve low quality fries and very few. I know what food costs are and this place is ridiculous as far as portions and quality. Wouldn't recommend eating here until they fix problems. I have eaten here multiple times and food used to be ok but now crazy bad for price. Ok that being said bar staff is outstanding and beer is great. Fun place to hang and great atmosphere. Unfortunately I would go somewhere else until they get it right. I have eaten here 6 times in 4 weeks so I'm not basing it on 1 visit. read more

We first stopped in a couple of weeks ago and have since been there two more times. We have had reasons to travel through Newport a few times in the last few weeks. The location is fairly sizable with part of the space being a typical dining area and kitchen, with the other half being a large bar/dining area. Each time we ate in the bar/dining area. The service has been great each time. Our beer drinking friends enjoyed the selections of beers. We all enjoyed their selection of signature cocktails. Some are quite unique. In our three visits we did run into a couple of food items not being available. Not sure why, but guessing maybe current supply chain issues. We have purposely had different entrees each time. The food is wonderfully prepared and between ourselves, and our six friends who joined us yesterday, each person noted how fresh and flavorful the food items were. We arrived 10 minutes before closing after a local baseball game. They sat us and the service was great. Three of us has the fish and chips and they were good. The restaurant has a classy feel to it without losing any of its hometown touches. It seams to also be a favorite among the locals. read more

I was gonna give a good review cuz I've been there for lunch and it was good. But tonight my birthday my husband took me at 7pm for Dinner e wee told it would be 30 min wait well thought ok then she said there were no tables when clearly there were but we could sit in the bar area but could even get a glass of water she said no service at all for 30 mins. And there's 2 people standing behind her that worked there that were doing nothing. The band was setting up lots of empty tables. Was very disappointing. Couldn't even get a glass of water. We had another couple with us. And all decided we needed to find a place to eat. They didn't care that $200 or more was walking out the door. Was a bummer for my Birthday to say the least. read more

The Linguine Allo Scoglio (seafood pasta) was outstanding - it was perfectly seasoned and prepared, at just the right temperature, and very generous with the seafood. My wife and I went last night to DB and really enjoyed our time. I had the Double Barrel Burger, she had the fresh fish and chips and we shared the Pork Belly Bites appetizer. It was definitely one of the best meals I've had in the area in a long time. The only negative was, like many restaurants right now, they were understaffed and a little overwhelmed, so the food took quite a while to actually get to us. But overall, the restaurant was newly remodeled, the food was good, and the servers were friendly and knowledgeable if a bit slow. Definitely recommended and will go again for sure. read more

Fell in love with the mac n cheese, loaded with real bacon bits, light creamy flavorful cheese sauce .. a hint of truffle..topped with a garnish of thinly sliced well aged Parmesan .. simply AMAZING ! worth paying the $16 . UNTIL TODAY no bacon, no truffle, no Parmesan, just a lumpy oily separating cheese "sauce"? With red peppers added for spice/flavor? (in place of salt evidently) with chunks of some flavorless , pork roast? (Not sure what kind of saltless -watery tasting animal it was) and green onions On top. First time experience was great. We have been wanting to try out the new place in town. :) Menu options are plentiful. Burger was delicious! Cooked to request. Wife tried the Mac and Cheese which was also delicious. Large portions and fair prices. Beer selection is also great. Service was excellent and we liked the atmosphere. Worst food ever! Meat loaf was so burnt an dry no flavor at all! Mashed potatoes were cold and no flavor, fries were under cooked! They need a new cook and new menu over priced for dog food that my dogs wouldn't even eat! I only gave it a one star because I had to! This is a leaner! Menu is ambitious and inventive, but I've had one of the most poorly prepared dishes here that I can recall. And it was meatloaf -- gentle, matronly, welcoming, soft and mild MEATLOAF. It was interestingly served in a coiled spiral with bacon between the meatloaf coils. Now I ordered it fully believing it was not possible to make meatloaf into something as grey and leathery as a tortoise toe, but this chef clearly did not know the meaning of the word "fail". Really. Or he would have recognized that it was, and that he had, and left it under the porch to perish like the meatloaf litter-runt it was. Positive side, the bartender/waitress could NOT POSSIBLY have been better about it. I didn't ask, but she not only didn't charge me but she also brought out a wonderful gratis dessert with coffee. From now on I'd probably just stick to schnapps and schnacks and schweetz here, but .... (you didn't think I had depleted my buts, did you??) ..... the cocktail prices have clearly fallen prey to Putin's Ukraine Tax Hike. If I could give this 0 stars I would, the burger I got was the most bland tasting thing I've ever ate, was not bad but wasn't good either, wasn't juicy nor flavorfu, just tasted like a ground beef sandwich, and $26!? for fish and chips? you must be high, on your online menu it said it was $19.00 please update or take down your menu, and the bread that was given with the fish and chips smelt sour almost like rotten milk, the fries weren't anything special either, soggy and tasteless. read more
