I was hungry as could be when I dropped by the gas station nearby and smelled food coming from the pub. I was unsure what to expect from the outside because it looks like a little old house, but at the level of hungry I was at, I didn't care. Walking up, I saw some women in the window, which gave me a sigh of relief. As I entered the business, there was a huge family and a group of older men tabled, while a couple were sitting at the bar. I sat myself at the bar as well and looked around if they had menus posted. Didn't see anything so I waited and watched what seemed like the owners possibly run around through the kitchen. I felt unattended, which made me nervous as to why they had not even said hello. Eventually, the lady came up and asked if I wanted a drink, I asked for a menu instead and looked it over. My eyes went directly to the burgers. I figured if a huge family was eating here it must be good. I decided pretty quickly and asked the man for a diet when I was able to get his attention. I watched for a little while as the workers busied about in the kitchen. Both were sweating and hustling around. I felt for them. Eventually the man came to answer the phone that was near me. Then I asked if I could order and got myself the headliner Boondox hamburger. I was relieved and observed for awhile.
I looked around and saw they had a pool table and card games. At the bar I was sitting at, rules were posted up as well, which I found quite interesting. No swearing to women or altercations, among other "we card everyone" and "will prosecutor minors"! They don't mess around here. They also had a TV nearby. I watched off and on the news and 2 Broke girls. I made some small talk to the lady worker. She seemed stressed but I was happy to get to talk to people. She was nice and got to work. I watched as locals came in for their call-ins and I thought, "whoa this place is bussssy." Very soon afterwards, my plate came out...I was sure in for a treat.
This burger was BIG with all the fixings. Two stacked patties with cheese melting between with crispy thick bacon on top. The fries were wonderfully cooked. Possibly beer-battered, but they were very thick crispy and a gorgeous reddish brown color, similar to curly fries. I was quite surprised and quickly asked for utensils! Haha. OH MY GOSH...it was the BEST Burger I've ever had. It was thick, juicy, and packed with flavor. I was beyond shook and speechless that this little hole in the wall dive bar had this amazing burger hiding from the rest of gods creation. I didn't want to eat it all in one sitting though (had just came from a leg workout). I came home excited to share with my father who said he had not gone to the pub because it looked basically sketch from the outside. He was surprised as well. We live in Cocolalla, so now that I discovered this diamond in the rough, I think I'll convince my parents to come too!! Absolutely AMAZING food!! Will be returning!!! read more
