I've been meaning to write a review for a while now.. Anyways I've been coming here since James opened up last march. I went the first time to test it out because it's across the street from where I live but I quickly understood why so many of his previous customers followed him. Ive been coming here since he opened a couple years ago and have not gotten my hair cut anywhere else ever since. I think the only issue some people may have is with the appointment only format which doesn't work out for walk-ins, but is great for those who choose to make one because you don't have to wait in a line full of walk-ins, simply set up an appointment and you'll be seen right away. simple as that. I had been looking for a reliable barber shop for some time now, in the Whittier area. After reading some reviews here on Yelp, I called Double Edge Barber Parlor and spoke to Jay. I was able to get an early appointment the next day (lucky). It was my first time getting a haircut here and my first time making a haircut appointment. The outcome was spectacular! I got an awesome haircut, exactly what I wanted. Making an appointment made total sense! I got there, went in, got my haircut and got out. My very picky 16 year old son got referred here by my brother in law who honestly has great hair! He made us the appointment and WOW WAS I BLOWN AWAY WITH THE SERVICE! My son wanted a new look and even though I told Jay the owner that we live overseas and are only here visiting he took his time and gave my son an amazing cut. My son has really curly hair and normally just gets a 2 on top and 1 on the sides, clean lineup and he's off, but he talked to jay and told him he wanted a new look and a way to wear his hair longer... Jay took his time and gave my son exactly what he had imagined then showed him how to style and use product in his hair to maintain the look! By far the best barber I've taken my kids to. Professional, friendly, attentive, and honest. I recommend this place to anyone but especially if you are looking to change up your style, Jay will make sure you leave happy. He did say tho to call first since they go off of appointment schedules which I'm cool with. They also have walk ins for anyone in the neighborhood looking for a cut. You know Id like to first start off saying that I've been very particular about my haircut and who cuts it, all of my life. Because I've always had short hair growing up as a kid and even when I was I the military, when I had to get it cut twice a week, Ive also been very selective about my barber. So if you are like me and are sick of the 10 minute, spin you in the chair twice, and send you out the door looking like something your little sister could have done for free/ $20 "haircut"...then I'm going to have to say with absolute confidence, that James is by far the best customer service, I have ever had, at any of the countless barber shops I've been to over the years. James goes above and beyond to please his customers and his attention to detail shoes every time he has someone in his chair. It evident that James takes great pride in his craft and it certainly shows with every visit. Even better...James is always willing to fit anyone into his busy schedule, for those out of the blue walk inns, like myself. Barber Jay used to be at a shop in Downey and just opened his own shop in Whittier. I have already mentioned on other Yelp pages where he used to work how great he is at cuts and shaves. I went there yesterday with the hubs for the grand opening and the location is super convenient (near Beverly and Norwalk on Workman Mill Rd.) and there is plenty of parking behind the shop. The actual shop is neat, clean, and comfortable and in no way dingy or snobby like some other places are. It really has a "neighborhood" barber shop feel. I overheard one person say he came out from Corona and a few other people who came out from the I.E. I think that says a lot about how good Barber Jay is if people are willing to drive out that far to get a cut from him. As always, I highly recommend Jay and now I highly recommend his shop. read more
