That chicken salad wasn't appetizing to me at all. Perhaps it's the culture, but I didn't particularly enjoy the peas, carrots, and potatoes in my chicken salad, or the random peppers plopped in there for that matter. The ceviche was slightly bland and the tostada it sat upon was nothing special and had too much of harsh flavoring of store bought tortilla/corn chip. It overwhelmed the ceviche. I'm sad to say that I probably won't be trying any more items from here, and that's not to say that you shouldn't.

Nobody will beat my Everett & Jones. That said, I thought his orange spice and teriyaki bbq were delicious. The orange spice starts a little sweet but there's a really nice kick at the end. The brisket was perfectly juicy as soon as they served it, but we saved the rest while we ran through the farmer's market and it was pretty dry by the time we got home. So lesson learned, eat asap. The ribs were fantastic, with a little char on the outside. I don't see that too often but as the person who likes her hot dogs burnt, I was a huge fan of it. We'll be back!

My curiosity heightened when I could not find a Yelp review for this eatery while being able to locate a beautifully-designed website. Most local small businesses seem to make their first online appearances on Yelp; websites only show up at later times. Nevertheless, here was a new business with a website showing empanadas and other foods in their delicious glory. The flaky, crispy dough of the vegetarian emapanda that hugged the seasonal veggies was amazingly flavorful. I have tried several restaurants that serve empanadas in the area, such as Venga Empanadas - the shells are too soft and are not tasty - and Pica Pica Maize Kitchen - the shells are too oily and lack flavor, though their arepas are excellent - but Sabor Andino's emapanda shell was exceptional. There were at least half a dozen different vegetables, all of which blended well with the aji panca that gave the veggies a smoky, somewhat sweet, taste. The prices of the empanadas are somewhat steep at $4.50 a piece; however, considering that only organic ingredients are used and the empanadas are rather sizable, the price is mostly justifiable. Sabor Andino is primarily a catering company; unfortunately, I cannot comment on that portion of their business. However, if the exchange I had with the person I spoke with on the phone - Ana, perhaps - is any indication of their service, then I have faith that their catering will be superb. Oh, and about the photos on the website that show the delicious-looking empanadas? Well, the actual product looked just as good, and as stated, they did indeed taste delicious. [Important note: A storefront does not exist; Sabor Andino is a catering and delivery business only. Do not drop by or order online to pick up food - you'll just find an apartment building, in which the owners operate. I found this out the hard way. Let people finish, leave them alone until they're done eating, no one wants their food to get cold(er) while they have to answer to someone who wants to bus the table aggressively every 2-3 minutes! Things primarily ran smoothly on the day. Cons 1. Several months before the event, they were extremely challenging to get a hold of. It took two months of emails and phone calls to get several questions answered. 2. We signed a catering proposal with a certain cost estimate. Three months before the event, they shared that many costs had been left off the original proposal and gave us a new proposal that was thousands of dollars more (this was so close to the wedding we did not have any options regarding finding a different caterer). 3. On the day, they were not ready to serve the drinks at the beginning of the cocktail hour and guests had to wait 10mins before the first guests were able to get their drinks.

Basically it's a ginormous maki roll. After deciding to have Linda be one of our caters for the wedding reception, it was extremely pleasant and easy to work with her. She runs a small business and was more than willing to accommodate us anyway she could help out. Her prices were very reasonable and for what our guests got, it was definitely worth it! Our guests loved the ramen and thought it was very fun and it provided just the right thing on a cooler outdoor evening reception. We ended up getting half portions to not overwhelm everyone with all our different food truck foods and it worked out great. I cannot say how nice Linda was or how hard she worked to make our wedding special. She was always all smiles and it was so kind that she was really happy to be part of the whole wedding and wished us well.
