The staff were very kind and helpful. We rented the Springdale and the Kingswood and were satisfied with both. The Kingswood queen bed is much more comfortable than the Springdale. The Springdale is much older than the Kingswood. Our family enjoyed swimming and volley ball. The playground is old and the slides need repair. We did the horseback riding and that was fun, except the horses hooves needed attention. You could tell they had not had a farrier out to trim the horses in a long time. Some of the kids running the horseback riding didn't seem to have a good handle on the horses. It was quite unorganized. The worst part of the experience was the river float. The river was not only slow but the water level was low and the water was quite disgusting. At many points, your butt was touching the bottom of the river and it was mucky, rocky, and we had to get out and walk. Wear water shoes! I don't understand why the river was not dredges of all the debris. With the water table being so low, they should have prepared us for a slow moving river, and seaweed everywhere. I never write reviews but felt that this was an experience I had to let others know about. This is the worst place my family has ever camped-if I didn't have to drive a couple hours to get home I would have turned around. Let me tell you about this nightmare. When we arrived we had to pay for each of our children (2 of them) which are $5 a piece in addition to our camping reservation. We slowly go around the turn in the road and we are treated by a "speed bump" also known as a 1 foot dip in the road. In about 50 ft we had another "speed bump." We arrive and my kids were looking forward to going to the swimming pool onlv to find that the pool was not clean and absolutely nothing to sit on. The pool looked like it was abandoned and should have been at a prison with the fencing that was used. The next day we decided to go horse back riding. This was when I came across the rudest person working at a campground. This man's name is STEVEN REEVES. While paying for horse back riding ($40 a piece) when I brought up the fact that he overcharged me for my camp site by $15.00. Steven had a very difficult time figuring out how to subtract $15 from $80. When I explained that it would be $65 he states that his computer system is telling him It's $69. I once again explained that it would be $65. This took at least 10 minutes from my horseback riding time. I expressed that I would like my full time for horseback riding and that it was not my fault that his computer system was not working. While saddling up on the horses- he radioed out to Bob and told him he would charge $57 for the horseback ride. Once we were finished riding we went into pay and he requested $67. We explained that we were overcharged $15 and that it should only be $65. This is when he stated that he was so stressed out since he is having to run his parents business since they are in bad health. He continued to reference that I was being an asshole to him for telling him that He overcharged me $15. He began swearing in front of my children and I by stating that I was treating him like shit and that's why he was having to be an asshole. MIND YOUHE SAID THIS IN FRONT OF MY DAUGHTERS AND ME. When I expressed that I would be writing a review he stated- throw in that the store isn't even up and running due to his parents. ****You could not pay me any amount of money to go back to this place and be treated the way he treated us. **** read more

This is a great place for a family fun week! We love the location and the amenities. The area is beautiful. The campground offers a great variety of games and adventure, from Hayrides, to bike trails to golf, horseback riding and tubbing. The Double RR is our go to campground. read more

If you are looking for a clean well kept campground this is NOT it!!!!!!! Our sites were facing the pool and the pools were never cleaned, the filters were full, they didn't check chemicals ever, there were dead frogs in the pool. The bathrooms were disgusting, I was so glad we had full hook up otherwise we would have left. We also had things stolen right off our lot, which we have never had happen before anywhere else. read more

This review focuses on the lazy river tubing experience: Disorganized to say the least. The management either doesn't care or doesn't know how to successfully run this as a business. We drive in, buy our tickets and are told to ask this man for further instructions. He tells us to wait and that he will be with us shortly. Eventually he explains that one of us needs to drive our car to the end of the river exit, while the rest wait for the bus to the start. Our driver goes ahead and the rest of my party stands in the hot sun just waiting with 20 other people. Note: for a waiting area that took over an hour and a half, they had zero benches or considerations for customers. A small school bus returns and drops off our driver. The bus then does another drive away empty and shows up again to pick people up. No air conditioner and graffiti everywhere, you are taken like 5 min away and dropped off to walk to the river. The water itself was great and super calm, but none of that good stuff is attributable to management. I suggest finding a public Access and bringing your own tube to enjoy nature. read more

Sleeping at Double rr is a crap shoot. The campground is ok, nothing special at all. Pool is 20+ years old and the bathrooms have seen much better days. The sites are big and shaded in the older area. New area is a field The front office staff is very questionable. You call to get a site number and everyone gives you a different one. We used to go on an annual canoe trip here for a few years. The last time we went, the "manager" was a real jerk, wanting to charge us extra for extended time on the river. Since, we have never gone back. There are better golf courses and places to canoe in the Belding area. read more

I've been to Double RR Ranch twice now and enjoyed it both times. They really do have a lot to offer: swimming pool, canoeing, campsites by the river, horseback riding, and of course, golfing. We haven't had the good fortune of doing it all, but I have spent two weekends tent camping and canoeing. It was a great time. Bathrooms are reasonably nice and for the most part clean. They get dirty fast though after a nice day. I noticed some bike trails as well, but haven't tried those. read more

Great surprise!!! This campground is indeed rustic but very enjoyable. The campers were great and the staff was fantastic. Pool was heated and clean. We were in our travel trailers so did not use the bathroom facilities so ai cannot speak to that. We also did the horse riding with the kids which was also a great experience. The staff was friendly and the horses were great, but the rest of the campground was rough. The river lots seemed to be occupied by seasonal campers. The remaining sites were primitive. The pools were not great. My kids had fun for the first couple of hours. Most of what the website highlights was not observed. If you're looking for a resort, this is not it. read more

We rented a canoe for a 2.5 hour trip down the river. There was a short but reasonable wait as they gathered customers for the van ride upstream, and the driver unloaded all the canoes and carried them to the boat launch. The staff was courteous, the equipment was fine, the cost ($35) was fair, and the river was beautiful. We had a nice time. read more

We have camped at the Double R Ranch 6 times now. Twice as a couples weekend, three times with our young kids and once as an extended family getaway. We have always stayed in an RV. We absolutely LOVE it! Our most recent trip was for a week surrounding the 4th of July. The majority of this review will be based on this trip. The tubing is excellent and there are numerous places to put in and an obvious landing to get out. We bring our own tubes. The trail guides have been wonderful with young children and helping them feel confident on horse back. The trails are scenic and we enjoyed seeing turkey's and more dragon flies than I have ever seen before. The on-site bike trails are minimally groomed (some downed logs,etc across the path - although it did storm twice while we were there) but easily passable. One trail is a little boys dream with jumps, short steep hills and fast turns. I can still hear him yelling "This is totally AWESOME" as he raced around the loop. If you want well groomed trails, there is an entrance to White's Bridge Trail near the entrance to the camp ground. We swam in the pool (very clean considering the number of people using it), played baseball, badminton, volleyball and frisbee in the giant open field behind the camp store. We enjoyed a free hot dog roast, kids watermelon eating contest and fireworks provided by the campground. The kids enjoyed the recently updated playground and basketball courts too. Some people talked about the bathrooms getting dirty. First, there are more than one set of bathrooms and they are building more now. I think the ones attached to the pool probably do get dirty considering the level of usage. This would be true of any campground. Admittedly, we did not use the showers or bathrooms often because we were in an RV. The items in the camp store are mostly very well priced. A few things are pricey but other things are very inexpensive - it balances out very well. The food at the clubhouse was tasty, the employees were always courteous and helpful. The kids loved taking a break with ice cream, foozeball, and old fashioned video games (arcade style Atari games). This is a very reasonably priced, family owned facility. It may not be as pristine as some corporate campgrounds but it also isn't priced like a corporate camp ground would be. The sites are various sizes, relatively level and most are nicely shaded. To the person complaining about being charged extra for spending extra time on the river with the rented canoes -really?! If you rent the canoe for a three hour trip but keep the canoe for six hours, you have taken someone else's canoe rental. The manager was right to ask for a larger rental fee! I know they are lenient with canoe retrieval times so if it was noticed that you kept the canoes for extra time, you WERE taking advantage. Shame on you for giving them a poor review for calling you out on your selfish behavior! Ultimately, this is a family friendly campground that we will continue to visit each year. It was more trailer park than campground. The only river sites that are not inhabited by full timers were not level mud pits. The site we had was not cleaned before we arrived, so we had to look at and clean up the previous guests garbage. The bathrooms were FILTHY. Our neighbors ( one of the full timers ) had the loudest kids and mom and dad could have cared less. Way to expensive ( $39 a night ) for a miserable muddy filthy experience. We left a day early..it was that bad. We will never go back nor would we recommend it to anyone read more

Should read Double R redneck experience. This place is for trailers only. The "sites" are as level as the grand canyon. The dirt, dust and crappy road is only accentuated by the road apples on said road. Their idea of a pull through are two ruts through the pasture to a sandy patch of ground. Check in was an experience all it's own. We waited in line for at least forty minutes while one of the people did one finger typing on the computer. This was my second and last trip. read more

We have been going to RR Ranch for the last 13 years every Memorial and Labor Day weekend. There is a group of 5 families that we all get the exact same site every year and usually have a good time, but this year that all changed. We went to reserve our same site that we get every year and was told by the young lady that their system was down and she would take down our info and then put it in for Memorial Day 2021. We then went to confirm and were told that someone else had already reserved it and they denied that we try to reserve it again. They couldn't have cared less that they made a massive mistake and didn't even try to correct it or apologize. The lack of empathy was astounding. I'm sure they don't care but we will never return. It's probably for the best since it has continuously gone down hill year after year. The bathrooms are absolutely disgusting, the pools need severe work done and water is always ice cold, the guy that works the front gate thinks he is top flight security or something. The worst part is the fact that our children and grandchildren truly looked forward to these trips and some great memories were made. The fact is the staff have zero customer service skills and are quick to blame the customers for their mistakes and take no ownership nor do they attempt to make things right in any shape or manner. Long story short there are much better campgrounds out there that you can spend your money at. read more

For a bachelorette party about 15 of us girls went to RR Ranch to do tubing. It was all around disspointing. 1. The inside staff was rude and do not provide reciepts. 2. They did not provide us enough tubes after making us wait 1 hour! to get on the bus to drive down to the river. 3. We didn't get all the tubes we paid for and one tube went flat (which they refunded) 4. They fought us tooth and nail to refund us a tube that we paid for that never recieved (a cooler tube). So our 12:30-2:30 or 3 tubing trip ended up being a 12:30-5:30 trip with all the waiting and fighting with the management. We will not be back. read more

Stayed there in July, 2011. The The campground was decent, but I will not return. 1) The pool was gross. Significant amount of debris floating around in the water. My son has had diarrhea since returning. Did he get a parasite from accidentally swallowing pool water? Maybe. Maybe not. I know that my daughter swam in the deep end with goggles on, and the stuff she saw under water made her want to leave the pool. 2) The bathrooms are in need of an update. 3) The bathrooms need to be cleaned more frequently throughout the day. If I am paying good money for a campsite, I expect to see clean bathrooms. 4) The map shown on Double R's website and given to us on paper is nothing like the actual grounds. The campground is much more spread out and scattered than what is shown on the map. Stay elsewhere. read more

Star Rating: Two Stars for tent campers - 3 Stars for RV. As a tent camper, I just returned home from one night of camping. My campsite is very large (74) and others appear large with all quite level. Great for an RV - if you are a tent camper, make sure you bring a long extension cord. It's quite a distance from the electric post to where you may want to use your electricity. There is water and electric at each site. Nice sized picnic table in good shape. There is a fair amount of shade on most of the sites. Large trees provide good shade and a barrier from rain (sat under the tree during a light rain and stayed relatively dry). Bathrooms need attention. I think they only clean them once a day. In the woman's bathroom - only 3 stalls for the entire campground. Very short stalls so your knees almost touch the door. Floor tile is cracked and dirty. A lot of moths inside, not too much countertop space, but they do provide a shelf to place items. Okay mirrors. Two soap dispensers, but one does not work and there are not towels or air dryers so bring something to dry your hands. Three showers (I did not use) but appear okay. I changed clothes in one. I heard there is hot water. As any shower, I suggest buying a rubber shower mat to protect your feet from fungus. Dressing area had wood slat riser so water goes underneath. Son's perspective on the men's bathrooms: insects everywhere, mud on floor, stalls are too small and too few, urinals are narrow (don't be heavy). They offer a lot of amenities as the website states. We were going to tube and brought our own tubes. They were going to charge us $25 to transport us / tubes up river. It rained and they refunded our money. They drive you up river and you tube down to campground. Park a car by the exit on the river or you will have a LONG walk back to your car at the front of the campground where your car is parked. A friend did the horseback riding two years in a row and feels it is worth the $25 for the about 45 min ride because you cross the river coming and going, making it different from other rides. Golf course looks challenging. Didn't use camp store so can't comment on prices, but ice is available at the campground. Wood that you are supposed to buy from them (can't bring wood in) comes in a bundle good for about a 2-3 hour burn. For RV campers - I think at the dump station only one RV can go at a time. End result, until I read that the bathrooms are redone, I will not return. It's okay if you own an RV and don't have to depend upon the campground's facilities, but if you do - you don't get what you paid for... read more

For a fairly high priced private campground, they sure don't enforce the rules. Quiet hours mean nothing here. Speed limits don't either. Nice sites in the upper loop, full hookup, grassy and backed up to trees. Roads pretty rocky and hard to walk on. read more

We rented one of the Chalets at double RR ranch recently. I must say that if the staff actually gave the units some attention it may not have been so disappointing, but this is not the case... The bathroom is a literal petri dish of black mold! It hangs on the walls in the shower, covers the shower curtain, clogs the shower floor, and lingers in the air. The cabin was soaked in a wafting smell of decaying carcass and leaking propane that opening windows and doors, dousing in fabreeze, and use of 3 airwick candles could not subside. Though it may not have aided for this situation a ceiling fan would have been a welcomed addition for the comfort of guests. Behind, under, and on top of all furniture was coated with dust and grime. It appeared to not have been swept or mopped the entirety of the previous summer season. The boasted river view deck was splinter filled, rotting, and devoid of any form of seating and actual view of the river. The kitchen was grimy at best and scary for the most. A film coated all surfaces and made the use of any dishes, utensils, and pot or pans a non-option. The stove was missing 2 burner knobs disallowing the use of half its capacity. As a whole these Chalets have the potential to be a decent facility for a family on vacation but it will require some elbow grease and disposing of the minimalist attitude of the current staff. read more

We just returned from a week at the campground. We had never been there before but the pictures on the website looked nice and like there was a lot to do with the kids. We were extremely disappointed. If we would have driven to look at it before we booked it, we never would have gone. The pictures leave a lot to be desired. The pool was full of algae, our campsites were obviously not maintained between campers as there were several piles of dog feces that we had to clean up. The dumpsters smelled so badly that everytime the wind blew from the north, it smelled like a rotten animal. The golf course was not very well maintained either. When we went to inquire about the horseback riding and canoe rental we were treated extremely rude by one of the girls at the desk. I can honestly say that I don't know when I have dealt with someone in a customer service role that has been so degrading or sarcastic. Most people who speak to customers that way would lose their job. When we complained to the manager we were told that his hands were tied. This is completely unacceptable. I will NEVER go back here again and I am writing the review to warn others. Do not confuse this place with the Double J Ranch which has similar activities and receives rave reviews. This would be the generic version and they probably count on people getting the two places confused. Absolutely awful and disgraceful how they treat their paying customers. If things are allowed to continue this way, this place shouldn't be in business much longer. read more

Well our first time to Double R Ranch was in 2008 we had a great time... a few years later we went again and even left our camper. The owner pulled it to my site a few weeks later because I want to bring a girl friend without the guys for a few days , and I can't hook it by myself, oh I can tow it, back it, and park it but the sway bars scare the tar out of me so they put it on my river site all I had to do was drop the jacks plug it in and unlock the door it was awesome, we always tube and looking forward to High river this year with all the rain, Horse back riding is a must. Great trail and fun, and gentle horses. If you have kids it's a must. Give Double R Ranch a try, you won't be disappointed. I've been horseback riding there before, it was an okay time (not ideal but it was worth it) now I called back to schedule a trip to go ride and the customer service lady that informed me was the "trail instructor" was being rude. Used to camp here and ride horses every year as a kid in the 80's and early 90's. Great memories... although the bathrooms were terrible and upon my recent visit...well they still are. Just returned with the kids to ride horses this summer...thinking it would be as great as it had always been. Wow.... NOT the case anymore! First... I was told the horse I was riding double on with a young child had to be last, as it had a problem getting along with and biting the other horses. Made me wonder why that horse was being used at all. As we were heading out, I realized that one of the kids didn't have her feet in the stirrups, so I called out to the hand that she needed help with that and her response was. "she'll be fine, don't worry about it"....and off we went. That is a huge safety issue and the lazy hand deliberately ignored it. Not sure what the deal was or if the horses were not fed recently, but I have never seen horses more poorly behaved on a ride and there were endless, countless stops with horses that wouldn't stop grazing no matter what the rider did. The horse I was on was awful....and once we were out, I realized the reigns (a rough rope and not leather) were too short, and every single time she put her head down to graze, the poor kiddo riding with me was pretty much folded in half because I didn't have nearly enough slack on the line. She was scared, crying and in pain by the end of the trip. When we finally returned to the barn, the horse I was riding took off into an apple tree and my rider and I became instantly tangled up in a mess of low branches. She was scared and started screaming and I yelled for assistance from the horse hand. He could not have walked over any slower to help us out. Upon dismount and inspection of my rope burned hands, I commented to the hand that the reigns were not long enough on this horse. He flippantly responded that they couldn't find anything that really worked for the horse and walked off. I stood there just stunned. How unprofessional and what was a horse of that temperament doing with double riders and improper riding gear? In all.... beyond disappointed with how this ride turned out today and how the hands conducted themselves and the lack of concern for safety. This place was so great back in the day....such a shame. read more

Too bad you can't choose zero stars. We booked our family vacation here based on their website, which promised so much but delivered so little. Campground smelled of dead, rotting meat. Pool was green but was promised "We're working on it". Like other campers we encountered dog feces on our lot. Sites are small and everyone is packed in like sardines, electrical boxes worked sporadically. The worst though is the customer services. Their brochures highlights activities available telling you to get more information at the office. When I inquired at the office the girl snottily said "Did you get a brochure at check-in? I answered yes but I had questions. She tells me "to go read it again or I suppose I could sit here and recite it for you" when we complained to the manager he admitted to hearing the conversation but he states his hands are tied, the owners are aware but won't change. Do yourself a favor and find somewhere else to spend your hard earned money and time! read more

We stayed in one of their Chalets earlier this month. It was our second visit but we had camped previously. There was a terrible odor in the building that smelled like a damp basement that did get manageable after we got all the windows and doors opened. The kitchen appliances didn't work and it took them a full day to replace the broken microwave. The stove had two working burners and no way to see the settings because the writing was worn off them. Ants invaded anything that wasn't in a plastic bag or container. The hot water tank would not let one adult get thru a shower without the water going cold. The back deck was separating from the building so we weren't comfortable sitting out there. All in all, the campground is acceptable but the chalets are no where near worth what they charge. The kids enjoyed the horse back riding and the pool but we won't be going back. The overall attitude of the people who own/run the place is terrible. They treat guests like relatives who arrived unannounced and then stayed too long. read more
